Chapter 1186: Easy Slaughter
Thousands of troops were instantly obliterated just like that in ten seconds. Mason’s heart shook, his eyes trembling as he watched the display of power from Sylphia.
Even he, who was many times stronger than those thousands of troops, would need far longer than ten seconds to wipe them out.
But the most shocking thing for him was not the time. It was the power contained within each of those root dragons.
They exuded an aura he had never felt before, one that made him feel despair even though he was not their target.
Their speed was something that simple flight could not evade. To truly escape, one would need an escape device such as a teleportation belt.
’There is no way that technique could be stopped. Once it appears, there is nothing anyone could do,’ he thought, sweat falling from his forehead.
Mason then looked into the distance and saw another thousand troops approaching. Among them, more than fifteen were flying, and he could tell that two of them were on the same level as him.
This was the second line of defense of these otherworlders, far stronger than the troops stationed at the camp. The ones at the camp were merely an outpost, meant to warn the main force if an attack came from Earth.
If that happened, they would deploy this second line, one of their true main forces.
With two SSSS-rank leaders at the front, several SSS-rank behind them, and a much larger number of SS and S-rank fighters, this force was formidable enough to stop any assault from Earth.
Moreover, most of these otherworlders could use their strange power connected to blood. They were savages who thrived on blood, able to control the blood within their bodies or even the blood in their surroundings as a medium for attack.
On top of that, this environment strengthened them while weakening the hunters, unless protected by purifying pills, which he had already taken before entering the gate.
With all these advantages, this place was truly a nightmare for anyone trying to clear the gate.
That second line of defense alone had already stopped many hunters from Earth. Many failed without even making it past them.
Then what if they moved deeper?
They would be met with far greater numbers than this, along with many more opponents whose strength reached above A-rank. This was their home world after all. They had far more troops and resources.
In the past, the furthest Earth’s hunters could go was breaching the second line. After that, they were forced to retreat, having suffered heavy losses while still needing to face even more obstacles beyond it. That was even with five SSSS-rank fighters accompanying them.
Looking at the thousands of troops again, Mason felt a chill run through his heart. Although he hated them, he had to admit they were strong and tough bastards.
The second line of defense kept advancing. They were still tens of kilometers away, yet the sight of thousands of them was truly intimidating.
At the forefront, two SSSS-rank devils led the troops. The moment they saw Aldrian’s group and focused on them, they were stunned. Their eyes narrowed.
"Who are they? Are they the ones who unleashed that technique just now?" one of them, a man, asked in an uncertain tone.
"Even the aura of those dragons gives me goosebumps. Where the hell did they come from?"
"An elf and a group of humans? And isn’t that man Mason?" another man beside him asked.
As they continued closing in, the ground suddenly trembled once again, far more violently than before.
The thousands of troops struggled to remain standing. One after another, they collapsed to the ground.
"Be careful! Those dragons may appear again!" one of the SSSS-rank devils shouted as he, along with anyone above A-rank, flew higher into the sky.
But before they could gain much altitude, countless giant trees and flowers suddenly burst from the ground.
Each tree spread its roots, tearing through the earth and everything in its path, including the devils’ formations. The giant flowers were carnivorous. Their petals surrounded massive mouths filled with sharp teeth, and they lunged at the devils without pause.
Their movements were no slower than the earlier dragons. They were fast and agile, actively hunting for prey nearby.
"Climb higher!" one of the SSSS-rank devils shouted as they pushed upward. But—
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
"Aghh! No!"
"Save me!"
Glup!
The flowers’ growth outpaced them. In mere moments, they had already reached three kilometers in height. They devoured the flying devils with ease, swallowing them whole. The scene was truly horrific.
After more than fifteen seconds, the trembling stopped. Silence followed.
Not a single devil remained in sight.
What was left behind was a vast forest stretching for hundreds of kilometers, filled with dense, towering trees and enormous flowers.
After sensing no more prey, the carnivorous flowers stopped moving. Their monstrous mouths slowly transformed into ordinary blossoms. There was no sign that they had just been terrifying creatures that devoured living beings. Now they stood as beautiful giant flowers, capable of leaving anyone in awe with their appearance and fragrance.
Aldrian and the others, including Mason, were already floating in the sky, watching the birth of the new forest region. It stretched to the horizon.
The once barren land, where nothing seemed able to grow, had turned completely green in less than twenty seconds.
Mason, who watched all of this unfold directly, could only open his mouth. He was truly speechless. His heart beat faster, and his mind turned blank.
The second line of defense that had given Earth’s hunters fierce battles. The troops that forced even SSSS-rank hunters to fight with everything they had. The formidable force that had inflicted heavy casualties on the hunters of Earth in every attempt to clear this place.
All of it disappeared in no more than fifteen seconds.
He could not comprehend how powerful someone had to be to create a forest that stretched as far as the eye could see.
’Just how vast was this forest?’
The sight of tall, dense trees, along with even taller carnivorous flowers spreading to the horizon, sent a chill down his spine. He felt none of their beauty after seeing what those flowers had done moments ago.
"Fuuh, what an incredible sight. This is the first time I’ve seen this technique. Are you sure you didn’t go too far, dear?" Aldrian let out a whistle and spoke with a smile.
Sylphia turned to him, a faint smile on her face. "Well, I just wanted to try my large-area technique. Although this isn’t my strongest, it’s more than enough to deal with the devils here."
Mason’s heart shook.
’That is not her most powerful technique? If this isn’t the strongest, then just how powerful is her strongest?’
But alongside his amazement, and even fear toward Sylphia’s power, he also felt excitement. Seeing how powerful even one member of Aldrian’s group was, he no longer doubted that this gate could be cleared far faster than he had expected.
His confidence soared. He believed there was nothing in this place that could stop them. Even if each of them entered this gate alone, they would still be able to clear it.
The clearing of this gate was inevitable!
"This world has the same size as Earth. I think it would be a good idea if all of you split up. That way, we can clear this place more efficiently," Aldrian said to his wives.
"How about a challenge? Let’s see who can kill more," Baek Jimin suggested with a smile.
"Good idea," Sylphia said.
"I’m in too. To make it more fair, how about making husband the referee? And to make it more interesting, the winner gets husband’s reward?" Angelica said.
"Good idea," Sylphia replied.
"I agree," Baek Jimin said.
All of them turned to look at Aldrian with smiles.
"You agree, right, dear?" Sylphia asked.
Aldrian could only smile, amused by his wives’ interaction. They did not even involve him in their discussion and had already come to an agreement among themselves.
But what could he do?
He could only go along with their arrangement and entertain them.
"Of course. I’ll observe and make sure everything is fair. The winner will receive my reward, and you can ask anything from me," he said, which made the three women’s expressions turn ecstatic.
They then glanced at each other, their gazes filled with competition, as if none of them intended to lose.
Mason, who watched their interaction from the side, was truly speechless.
They were inside one of the most dangerous gates, one that had already taken the lives of many people. And yet these people treated it as nothing more than a place for competition.
He inwardly felt like crying.
Could they at least respect his feelings, and the people who had already died here?
This place had already become a source of endless headaches for countless people in America, yet they did not seem even slightly serious about it.
Could they at least show some concern, even if it was only an act?
