Chapter 98: 98 | Mommy Knows Best
Diane came for the second time in ten minutes. Her body clenched around Lukas as waves of pleasure rolled through her, sharper and more intense than she remembered. She collapsed forward onto his chest, her pink hair spilling across his shoulder, her breath coming in ragged gasps against his neck.
Something felt different.
Not wrong. Not bad. Just stronger. More vivid. Like someone had turned up the saturation on a photograph.
Her Aspect hummed under her skin, warm and present in a way it hadn’t been in years. Luster typically ran at a low background level unless she activated it deliberately. Right now it felt like it was purring.
"You okay?" Lukas’s voice rumbled beneath her ear.
"Better than okay." She pressed a kiss to his collarbone. "That was incredible."
"Yeah?"
"Mmm." She traced lazy patterns on his chest with her fingertips. His heartbeat had started to slow beneath her palm. "You’re very good at this, you know that?"
"You keep saying that."
"Because it keeps being true." She lifted her head to look at him. His amber eyes were half-lidded, exhausted in the best way. "I’ve been thinking about this for three days straight."
"I noticed."
"Did you miss me?"
"Obviously."
She smiled and kissed him softly. No urgency this time. Just affection. Just claiming him again in a different way.
When she pulled back, she noticed the way his eyelids were starting to droop.
"Getting tired?" she asked.
"Little bit."
"Poor baby." She shifted off him, pulling him with her until they were lying side by side. "You’ve had a long day."
"Mmmhmm..."
"I know. But you did well." She wrapped herself around him, one leg hooked over his hip, her arm draped across his chest. "So well."
He made a soft sound of acknowledgment. His eyes closed.
Diane watched him for a moment. His face had gone slack in that way that meant sleep was already pulling at him. The scar through his left eyebrow caught the afternoon light. She traced it gently with one finger.
"My perfect boy," she whispered.
He didn’t respond. Too close to sleep.
Good. She wanted him like this. Relaxed. Guard down. Hers completely.
She pressed her lips to his temple and kept them there, breathing in the scent of him mixed with sex and sweat and her own expensive perfume. Her hand slid up to cup his jaw. Her thumb stroked his cheek.
"You know what you are to me?" she murmured against his skin. "You’re everything. You understand that?"
His breathing had gone deep and even. Asleep or nearly there.
Perfect.
"I’m never letting you go," she continued, voice barely above a whisper. "Never. You’re mine. Mine before you were Sloane’s. Mine before you even knew what you were."
She kissed his cheek. Then his jaw. Then the corner of his mouth.
"Anyone who tries to take you from me will regret it." Her nails traced down his chest, not hard enough to scratch but enough that he’d feel it if he were awake. "I don’t care who they are. I don’t care what they have. You belong here. With me."
He shifted slightly in his sleep, turning toward her warmth.
Diane’s heart did something complicated in her chest. A twist of possessiveness mixed with genuine affection mixed with the kind of protectiveness that made her want to burn the world down if it meant keeping him safe.
She had felt this way about Sloane once. Still did, though her daughter would kill her if she knew how closely Diane monitored her life from the shadows. Making sure the right people noticed her. Making sure the wrong people stayed away.
Now she felt it about Lukas too.
Except with Lukas it was sharper. More consuming. Because Lukas wasn’t her daughter. He was something else entirely.
"Sleep, sugar," she whispered. "Mommy’s got you."
She held him like that, pressed against his side with her face buried in the crook of his neck. Her hand stayed on his chest, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing. Her leg stayed hooked over his hip, keeping him close.
He was out cold within minutes.
Diane stayed awake.
Her mind had started turning again. The post-sex clarity mixing with her natural tendency to analyze everything until it made sense.
Something was different. She knew her own body. Knew her own Aspect. And right now, lying here in the warm afternoon light with Lukas’s spent cock still slick against her thigh, she could feel Luster thrumming stronger than it had any right to.
She sat up carefully, not wanting to wake him. Her hand stayed on his chest. She looked down at him, her professional brain kicking into gear.
Late manifestation at seventeen. Rare-tier Force Manipulation with an unusual amber signature. Excellent control for someone who had only been active for two weeks. Stamina that shouldn’t be possible without an Epic-tier passive trait backing it up.
And now this.
She activated Luster consciously. Just a small pulse. Testing.
The enhancement field spread from her Core like it always did. Warm. Invisible. The kind of subtle improvement that people felt but couldn’t quite name.
Except it wasn’t subtle right now.
She could feel the difference. Her output had jumped. Not by a huge margin. Maybe ten percent. Maybe fifteen. But that was impossible. Aspect growth didn’t happen overnight. It took years of training. Decades of refinement. You didn’t just wake up stronger because you had good sex.
Unless.
Diane’s eyes narrowed.
Unless Lukas’s Aspect wasn’t just Force Manipulation.
She thought back through the last two weeks. Every night they’d spent together. Every time he’d finished inside her. The way her body had felt increasingly responsive. The way her stamina had improved without her doing anything different in her training routine.
The way her power felt right now, humming under her skin like it had been fed.
"No," she said aloud. Quiet. Testing the theory by speaking it.
She looked down at Lukas. Still asleep. Still beautiful in that sharp, angular way that made him look older than seventeen when the light hit right.
If he had an enhancement ability buried under the Force Manipulation, that changed everything.
Not just for her. For everyone.
The implications made her chest go tight.
A Hero who could strengthen other Heroes. A power source that worked through intimacy. Through sex.
The IHL would lose their minds. So would every agency in California. Hell, every agency in the country.
He’d become the most valuable asset in the hero industry overnight. Not because of what he could do in combat. Because of what he could do for everyone else.
Diane’s hand tightened on his chest.
No.
Absolutely not.
