Chapter 226: Chapter 226: Hero’s Bones of the Radiation Wasteland: Fragment

Qi Suian shattered the Immortal Emperor’s Sanctuary and made short work of its Grand Elder.

This time, he was far more efficient than when he dealt with the Holy Spirit Monarch’s Sanctuary.

He had learned his lesson from the last time and went on a killing spree on the spot. As a result, no foolish Pure-blooded Warriors came to stop him later.

Qi Suian had already killed most of them before they could even arrive.

After that, he smoothly obtained the Level 1 Fire Seed - Immortal Emperor.

’The name is intimidating, but its actual strength is average at best. No wonder it’s only ranked fourth.’

The Grand Elder didn’t even have time to unleash his awakening skill before Qi Suian killed him.

’What an unlucky bastard.’

Once he had it, Qi Suian stored it away and swaggered off.

Not a single Pure-blooded Warrior dared to stand in his way.

Even the Grand Elder, who possessed a Fire Seed Armor, had been killed by Qi Suian. Who else could possibly be his opponent?

With two Level 1 Sanctuaries destroyed, the other Sanctuaries that were supposed to be hunting Qi Suian were left dumbfounded. ’Why did he go and attack our bases?’

But this was just the beginning. Realizing the Tai Sui God was low on fuel, he soon set his sights on the Level 2 Sanctuaries.

’Level 3 Fire Seeds are pretty ineffective as fuel nowadays, but Level 2 ones are still quite useful.’

In a short span of time, Qi Suian wiped out all the northern Level 2 Sanctuaries, an act that sent shockwaves through the south.

It even brought the war in the south to a halt, giving the Steel Brotherhood a moment to breathe.

The destruction of Sanctuaries on such a massive scale wasn’t unheard of, but it had always been other Sanctuary factions responsible.

The Pure-bloods could tolerate one of their own doing it, but they would never tolerate a mutant committing such an act.

So, the southern Sanctuaries quickly changed their strategy. They decided to annihilate the Steel Brotherhood at any cost to eliminate the internal threat, then concentrate their forces to deal with the mutant, "Jack."

The remaining northern Sanctuaries, discovering that the "Supreme Emperors" who once ruled over them were gone and facing a resource crisis, descended into a massive free-for-all within two days just to survive.

The entire region was now in utter chaos.

Qi Suian, of course, was unaware of these developments. Even if he had known, he wouldn’t have cared.

During this time, he didn’t rush south. Instead, he began gathering intelligence on the Restricted Zones, observing and studying them.

He waited until the Tai Sui God’s Fire Seed module had been upgraded to the final stage: Fire Seed Awakening.

It wasn’t that Qi Suian didn’t want to go south; he had discovered that powering the upgrades for the Fire Seed module significantly reduced the Tai Sui God’s own combat effectiveness.

Fortunately, the Sanctuaries he targeted afterward were all Level 2. His enemies were weaker than him, and with the help of his Floating Cannons, the fights were over quickly.

Most of his time was spent traveling and collecting the Fire Seeds.

But if he were to face a Level 1 Fire Seed Armor, his overwhelming advantage would shrink to a mere upper hand, which is why Qi Suian didn’t rush south.

Instead, he wandered through the various northern Restricted Zones, provoking Wasteland Kings along the way.

He killed a few of them during this time, always using his Floating Cannons for an instant kill due to the power drain on the Tai Sui God.

He only let the Tai Sui God engage one in combat for the purpose of research.

He had to admit, the Wasteland Kings were genuinely powerful. While not quite on par with the Tai Sui God, one was able to survive for half an hour against the Tai Sui God at its Level 1 Awakening stage.

’But it probably couldn’t do that now. The Tai Sui God has reached the Fire Seed Awakening level.’

’Even if I can’t kill a Wasteland King in one shot, it wouldn’t last more than three attacks.’

"A strange structure and a mysterious origin," Qi Suian muttered while dissecting the Wasteland King.

It had no organs or any corresponding physiological structures.

"I thought Wasteland Kings were the product of evolution through radiation," he thought. "But now it seems their structures are too stable. They don’t look like mutations at all."

’It’s more like they were born this way.’

"So, I have a bold idea." Qi Suian’s eyes narrowed. ’If I’m not mistaken, the weapon that instantly plunged the entire planet into a radioactive, post-apocalyptic era...’

’...is related to the Restricted Zones and the Wasteland Kings.’

’What if each Restricted Zone is a node, and the Wasteland Kings are time bombs?’

’If they all detonated simultaneously, they could create a chain reaction through the nodes, triggering a planet-wide radiation burst in an instant.’

’The Twelve Victory Clans, with the financial power to build the ’Triumphant Eden,’ were definitely a global power. It wouldn’t have been too difficult for them to pull something like this off.’

As for where they got this technology, Qi Suian had no intention of investigating.

In the Polar Day World, a group of humans unable to leave the surface had somehow obtained the technology for a "sun in a bottle."

’If they could do it, why couldn’t the people of the Wasteland World have a similar opportunity?’

Qi Suian had lived through enough Doomsday Worlds to know that humans who destroyed themselves through their own reckless meddling were a dime a dozen.

From the Profound World to the current Wasteland World, these apocalypses were apocalypses for humanity, not for the world or the planet itself.

Even if all of humanity dropped dead, the planet and the world would keep on spinning just fine.

The planet from the Profound World was an exception, of course, since it was actually blown up.

Qi Suian was starting to understand. The "Doomsday Game’s" criterion wasn’t the end of a world, but the end of *humanity’s* world.

That’s why the "survivors" were always human. If it were a horde of demons and monsters, it’s anyone’s guess who would be the one trying to survive.

’So the Wasteland Kings are probably the shell casings or remnants of those weapons.’

’This technology is truly absurd.’

’But if the Victory Clan could create the Wasteland Kings, they should have a way to eliminate them, right?’

"So how strong are they, really?" The thought occurred to Qi Suian.

’They couldn’t have just created monsters without having a way to deal with them, right?’

’Then again... it’s entirely possible they did just that.’

When it came to courting disaster, humanity truly excelled. As a human himself, Qi Suian felt this deeply.

He only survived because he had the SSS-rank talent, Death Reforged. Otherwise, he would have died more times than he could count.

He was, therefore, quite experienced in the art of courting death.

Qi Suian continued his deep dissection of the Wasteland King as he pondered these things.

Since its entire structure resembled living ore, any deviation was immediately noticeable.

And so, he saw something strange inside the Wasteland King’s body.

"A bone?" Qi Suian’s eyes narrowed.

He spotted an anomaly. As he excavated, he unearthed a small fragment of what appeared to be human bone from within the Wasteland King.

"This... it’s incredibly hard." Qi Suian discovered the bone fragment was extremely tough.

Even the current Tai Sui God couldn’t leave the slightest scratch on it.

"Dual attributes... impossible to estimate." This was beyond Qi Suian’s comprehension.

"That’s not right. Why haven’t I ever encountered this before?" Qi Suian was confused.

[Trait 5: Epic Class (Inactive)]

"Huh???" Qi Suian was taken aback. The Doomsday Game’s status panel only appeared after a delay once he touched the bone.

’It’s as if the Doomsday Game couldn’t analyze this bone fragment right away.’

’But that’s understandable. The Doomsday Game has always been pathetic. Back in the Profound World, it didn’t even dare to face the Blood Moon head-on, let alone the corpse of the Profound God.’

[Mandatory Quest: Surrender the Fragment of a Hero’s Bone from the Radiation Wasteland]

[Quest Reward: Obtain Survivor Status]

[Quest Failure: Obliteration]

[Quest Countdown: 0:59]

The Doomsday Game had issued a mandatory quest, but Qi Suian completely ignored the reward and the penalty.

’If it could really obliterate me, it would have done so ages ago. Wouldn’t it be easier to just take this from my corpse?’

’It’s only issuing a mandatory quest because it has no other way to deal with me.’

"I can give it to you," Qi Suian said, "but you have to cancel the ’Permanent Event: Violator’ status and stop sending alerts about me to the survivors. You also have to guarantee that you’ll never track or publicize my location in any way, ever again."

Qi Suian had no interest in becoming a "survivor."

His life as a "Violator" was perfectly fine; he had no intention of changing that.

’As for being hunted, that’s a good thing. No reason to turn that down.’

The main reason was that Qi Suian didn’t think much of the Doomsday Game. If it were truly as powerful as one of those "God’s Spaces" or "Amusement Parks" from the stories, he wouldn’t be against joining.

Ever since the Profound World, his impression of the Doomsday Game could be summed up in one word: pathetic.

’I’ve thought about using this as a chance to break away from the system entirely, but it’s unlikely. The Doomsday Game itself probably doesn’t even have the authority to revoke someone’s survivor status.’

’Otherwise, this whole mess with the Doomsday Game wouldn’t have dragged on for so long.’

The countdown ended. The obliteration process began, and, as usual, the obliteration failed.

Just as Qi Suian was thinking the Doomsday Game was actually going to be stubborn about it, another mandatory quest appeared.

The quest reward had changed: forced completion of the "Permanent Event: Violator."

That was the only condition the Doomsday Game was willing to offer.

"No other promises? Not interested," Qi Suian refused without a second thought.

’It must take me for a fool. It could end the event now, but it could just start a new one later.’

And it had completely ignored all his other demands.

From Qi Suian’s perspective, this left the game with too much room to maneuver later. Even if it broke its promise, his situation wouldn’t change.

He wasn’t particularly attached to this so-called bone. An SSS-rank item with a strange name—it screamed trouble.

With his level of power, it was best to admire such things from a distance and not get involved.

As for using it as a module for the Tai Sui God? Leaving aside the "(Inactive)" suffix on all its traits, Qi Suian had no idea what this thing even did.

’If I install it on the Tai Sui God, what happens if it revives?’

Researching it was likely impossible, and keeping it was a risk. Who knew what might suddenly happen with it.

If the Doomsday Game hadn’t demanded it, he would have just bitten the bullet and tossed it into his Subspace Pocket.

Now, the best option was to make an exorbitant demand and cash it in with the Doomsday Game for resources to fuel his own growth.
