Chapter 1046: Chapter 1046: New Idea For Venture

"Okay." Xie Lanying nodded, waving her off.

Bai Xifeng disappeared through the back door into the bathhouse, leaving Xie Lanying entirely alone to her own devices in the courtyard.

With nothing else to do to pass the time, Xie Lanying began looking around the area curiously. She first peeked into the nearest room and quickly discovered that it was Bai Xifeng’s personal sleeping quarters. Since it was an intimate, private space, she chose not to enter out of respect and quietly moved away.

Next, she peeked into another adjacent room. The exact moment she looked inside, she was thoroughly surprised to see a massive, heavy cauldron occupying the exact centre of the floor. This must be where Bai Xifeng constantly practices her alchemy and pharmacy skills, she realised.

Various exotic medicinal ingredients, specialised tools, and glass containers were meticulously and neatly organised throughout the entire room. Looking at the detailed setup alone, Xie Lanying could easily imagine just how much time Bai Xifeng spent locked away studying, experimenting, and practising here every single day.

After wandering around and exploring for a while, Xie Lanying eventually returned to the central sitting area and waited patiently for her friend to finish up.

About fifteen minutes later, Bai Xifeng emerged from the back door, wearing a fresh, clean set of crisp clothes. Her long, ink-black hair was still slightly damp from the shower, dripping onto her shoulders.

Without a moment of hesitation, Bai Xifeng casually flipped her hand and activated a basic wind rune. A gentle, perfectly controlled stream of warm air immediately wrapped around her head, completely drying her long hair within mere moments.

Xie Lanying stared blankly at the scene, her jaw slightly dropping. It was such a ridiculously convenient and clever way to dry hair that she had honestly never even considered doing it before with her own elemental skills.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Bai Xifeng asked, laughing softly when she noticed Xie Lanying staring at her in sheer awe.

"I have honestly never thought about drying my hair like that before." Xie Lanying admitted, shaking her head at the sheer ingenuity of it. "It is actually so incredibly convenient."

"Then how do you usually dry your hair?" Bai Xifeng asked curiously, tossing her freshly dried locks over her shoulder.

"I just wipe it down with a standard towel and let it dry naturally over the course of the day." Xie Lanying replied simply.

"Then you must have to wake up pretty early every single morning." Bai Xifeng said. "You would need enough time for it to air-dry completely before you can even think about styling it properly."

"Well, I do not wash it every single day." Xie Lanying explained defensively. "Usually, it’s just once every three days or so."

Bai Xifeng blinked several times in pure shock. "Only once every three days?"

"That is completely and utterly normal for a cultivator!" Xie Lanying defended herself immediately, her cheeks flushing slightly.

Bai Xifeng touched her own smooth hair thoughtfully, pondering the difference.

"I suppose it makes sense for you. My hair gets washed almost every single day only because I am constantly getting beaten up by Teacher Ji, rolling around on the dusty ground, covered in training debris, mud, blood, and who knows what else." Bai Xifeng mentioned the sparring between her and Ji Yuan.

When Xie Lanying took a moment to think about Bai Xifeng’s chaotic daily routine, she realised there was absolutely no logical way to argue against that statement. Considering the sheer amount of physical abuse Bai Xifeng subjected her body to every day, not showering immediately afterwards would probably be a greater crime than washing her hair too often.

The two girls looked at each other’s expressions for a split second before simultaneously bursting into loud, hearty laughter that echoed out into the courtyard.

Bai Xifeng was the first to stop laughing when a sudden, brilliant thought crossed her mind. The laughter died on her lips as a deeply familiar, mischievous grin slowly spread across her face.

Xie Lanying immediately noticed the shift, her own amusement instantly turning into wariness.

"Girl, what on earth are you thinking about right now?" Xie Lanying asked suspiciously, narrowing her eyes.

"Nothing at all." Bai Xifeng shook her head quickly, instantly putting on her best, most exaggerated innocent expression.

"Do not even think for a second that I do not know you by now." Xie Lanying said, pointing a finger directly at Bai Xifeng’s face. "That exact expression tells me you are definitely plotting something ridiculous. Now hurry up and spill everything."

"Well..." Bai Xifeng finally admitted, her grin returning in full force, "I was actually just thinking about how to make a massive amount of money from what we were talking about earlier."

"Huh?" Xie Lanying raised an eyebrow in complete and utter confusion. "From washing hair?"

"Think about it! You just mentioned that so many women have a total nightmare drying their long hair after washing it." Bai Xifeng said, leaning forward over the table excitedly. "What if I use my inscription skills to create a special, low-cost wind rune specifically calibrated and designed for drying hair, and then sell it to the masses? What do you think of that idea?"

The more she spoke and mapped out the business plan in her head, the brighter her dark eyes became.

"Well, obviously, cultivators with a natural Wind Element attribute might find it completely useless since they can already manipulate their own elemental energy to do it. But literally everyone else without that element attribute..." Bai Xifeng rubbed her chin thoughtfully, a predatory business glare entering her eyes. "I think there will be a massive, untapped market for it."
