Chapter 791: 791. The Living Corpse

The next morning, Tyler left the rooftop penthouse through the hidden elevator and descended directly into his private office within the White Dragon Tower.

Although everything appeared normal, there was one matter that continued to trouble him. As he stepped into the office, he turned around.

Hazel silently followed a few steps behind him.

Ever since the strange incident in his bedroom, she had remained exactly like this. She wasn’t truly alive, nor had she regained her consciousness. Her eyes were still vacant, lacking any emotion or intelligence. Yet for some unknown reason, she would quietly follow Tyler wherever he went, like a puppet obeying its master.

If Tyler told her to stop, she would stop. If he told her to walk, she would walk. If he asked her to sit down, she would obediently sit without asking a single question.

It was almost as though some invisible thread connected the two of them.

Tyler had already tried several methods to determine whether the Soul Split Technique had succeeded, but every result confused him even further.

Hazel wasn’t under his direct control like an ordinary corpse puppet, nor did she possess an independent consciousness. She existed somewhere between the two, a state Tyler had never encountered before.

"Should I violate her and then awaken her soul?" Tyler then shook his head, "Nope... I will awaken her after I find some clues about her..."

His eyes swept over her figure. She was still completely naked.

Tyler rubbed his forehead helplessly.

Keeping her inside the privacy of his bedroom wasn’t a problem, but bringing her into the office like this was naturally inappropriate.

He took out a communication talisman from his storage ring and tore it in half. A ripple spread through the room.

"Suzuka, come in."

Only a few breaths later, a knock sounded from outside. "Young Master."

"Come in."

The office door slowly opened, and Suzuka walked inside.

However, the moment she entered, her footsteps froze.

Her gaze immediately landed on the unfamiliar brown-skinned woman standing quietly beside Tyler.

Suzuka’s expression instantly became vigilant. She placed a hand on the hilt of her sword. "Impossible! I’ve been guarding the entrance this entire time. Who are you?"

Hazel didn’t react. She simply stood there with her vacant blue eyes fixed upon Tyler, completely ignoring Suzuka’s question.

Tyler calmly explained, "Don’t worry. She’s a corpse. Her name is Hazel Sky."

Suzuka relaxed slightly after hearing the explanation.

Naming corpse puppets wasn’t unusual within the Dark Forest Society. Many disciples treated their refined corpses almost like companions and gave them names. What truly surprised her wasn’t the name. It was Hazel herself.

She had seen countless corpse puppets throughout her life, including those personally refined by her own grandfather..None of them looked like this. Hazel’s skin retained its natural softness and color. Her body showed no signs of decay. There wasn’t even the faint corpse aura common to refined puppets.

She looked exactly like a living person.

Suzuka observed her more carefully before suddenly widening her eyes.

"...She’s breathing." Only then did she notice Hazel’s chest rising and falling naturally.

The breathing was slow and steady, completely identical to that of an ordinary person.

Tyler nodded.

"It seems to be nothing more than an imitation of life. Even though she breathes, there is no heartbeat or blood circulation. I’ve checked several times. She’s still a corpse."

Suzuka slowly circled around Hazel, examining her from every angle.

"The imitation is too perfect. If I didn’t know beforehand, I would’ve believed she was a living cultivator."

Tyler smiled.

"That’s one advantage. If I bring her outside, nobody will immediately suspect I’m from the Dark Forest Society."

Suzuka thought for a moment before speaking. "Then why not keep her inside a storage bag until she’s needed?"

Tyler shook his head.

"I’ve already tried. For some reason, ordinary storage treasures reject her. I suspect she’s... somewhat special."

He deliberately avoided mentioning the vision he had seen within Hazel’s soul.

Until he understood what had truly happened, he wasn’t planning to tell anyone.

Suzuka nodded without asking further questions. Since Tyler didn’t wish to explain, she naturally wouldn’t pry into his secrets.

After thinking for a moment, she smiled faintly, "If you want her to appear more like an ordinary person, we should begin with the basics."

Tyler looked at her curiously.

"The basics?"

Suzuka nodded matter-of-factly.

"For starters, let’s start with Clothes."

Tyler looked toward Hazel before nodding in agreement. That certainly sounded reasonable..Suzuka rang the small bell on Tyler’s desk.

Soon afterward, one of the maids assigned to the office entered respectfully, "Young Master."

Suzuka stepped forward and began giving instructions with surprising familiarity.

"Prepare the finest materials available. We’ll make several sets of clothing for her. The primary colors should be celestial blue with silver and gold embroidery. Use drifting cloud and nine-petaled lotus patterns..The outer robe should provide proper elegance while the inner garments remain light and comfortable. Prepare matching shoes, accessories, and hair ornaments as well."

She thought briefly before adding, "The waist sash should be woven from high-grade spirit silk. The defensive arrays can be left empty for now."

Tyler nodded.

"I’ll personally engrave the formations afterward." He then looked toward the maid. "As for the materials, don’t worry about the cost."

"Choose the best quality available."

The maid respectfully bowed.

"As you command, Young Master."

Suzuka then gestured toward Hazel.

"Take her measurements."

The maid quickly retrieved a measuring tape before carefully recording Hazel’s height, shoulder width, waist, arms, legs, and every other necessary measurement.

Throughout the entire process, Hazel remained perfectly still.

She neither resisted nor questioned anything.

After finishing her work, the maid quietly excused herself to begin preparing the clothes.

Watching her leave, Suzuka nodded with satisfaction.

"That settles the clothing." Her attention then shifted elsewhere..Several printers stood neatly along one side of the office.

Suzuka’s beautiful eyes widened.

"...Young Master. You actually made this many?"

Yesterday there had only been a single White Paper Crane printing machine.

Now....There were more than ten. Each one appeared completely identical. She couldn’t help feeling impressed.

Although Tyler often surprised her, witnessing such efficiency firsthand still left her speechless.

Tyler scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

"It wasn’t anything special."

To him, it truly hadn’t required much effort.

After all, he had simply copied the machines using the mysterious copper pot.

Suzuka naturally knew nothing about that.

In her eyes, Tyler had spent the entire night assembling every machine by hand.

She looked at him seriously.

"Young Master, there’s no need to be modest. I can see the exhaustion in your eyes. You must have worked throughout the entire night without resting."

Hearing those words, Tyler instinctively recalled the previous night’s activities in his bedroom.

For a brief moment, several rather pleasant memories flashed through his mind. Moans of maid. Groping Hazel’s breasts.

Fortunately, his expression remained unchanged. After coughing lightly, he nodded with complete seriousness.

"You’re right. I really did work very hard last night." He smiled faintly before continuing, "It was exhausting... but I enjoyed every moment of it."

Suzuka nodded in admiration, completely misunderstanding the meaning behind his words.

In her heart, Tyler White’s success was no longer a coincidence.

No matter how talented a person was, without this level of dedication, they could never accomplish so much at such a young age.

A short while later, Hazel returned after changing into her new clothes.

She stood quietly before Tyler and Suzuka, her long brown hair cascading over her shoulders. The celestial-blue dress embroidered with silver and golden threads suited her perfectly, giving her an elegant and graceful appearance. At first glance, she looked no different from a noble young lady. Only her vacant blue eyes betrayed the fact that something was unusual.

The maid who had helped dress her bowed respectfully before leaving the room.

Suzuka carefully circled around Hazel, examining her from every angle. The more she looked, the more amazed she became.

"Young Master... are you controlling her with an ordinary Corpse Possession Technique?" she asked.

Tyler shook his head.

"No. It’s closer to a Soul Split Technique. However, something unexpected happened during the process. She moves on her own without needing me to control every action. She obeys my orders like a puppet, yet she can carry them out independently."

Naturally, Tyler didn’t mention the strangest part.

The tiny fragment of his soul that had entered Hazel’s body had disappeared afterward. Even he had no idea why she was still able to move.

Suzuka nodded thoughtfully before suddenly smiling.

"Since we’ve already come this far, why don’t we go outside?"

Tyler looked at her in confusion.

"Go outside?"

"Let’s call it a date," Suzuka replied with a playful smile. "You’ve been working nonstop these past few days. Consider it a chance to relax. At the same time, we can see whether anyone notices that Hazel is actually a corpse."

Tyler blinked.

"A date?"

Suzuka nodded without any embarrassment.

"Besides, I really want to see how people react."

Tyler glanced between Suzuka and Hazel before asking curiously, "You seem to like her quite a bit."

"Of course," Suzuka answered as though it were the most natural thing in the world. "Who in the Dark Forest Society wouldn’t admire such a high-quality corpse?"

Tyler silently rubbed his forehead.

Only then did he remember where he was.

Among the disciples and elders of the Dark Forest Society, being fascinated by corpses wasn’t considered strange at all. It was practically part of the sect’s culture.
