Chapter 686: Chapter 644: You Might Be a Descendant of Sun Wukong! (3)

Walking through a manor surrounded by various priceless and rare plants, each step Jiang Yino took felt incredibly heavy. She had no time to appreciate the vibrant flowers and plants, which were bathed in Spiritual Energy. Despite her constant deep breathing, she still couldn’t calm her rapidly accelerating heartbeat.

"Dad, Mom, I’m back!" Qin Fan called out with a joyous laugh before he even stepped inside.

This, perhaps, is the longing for home every traveling child harbors, and even a prodigy like Qin Fan was no exception.

「In the kitchen of No.1 Villa.」

Qin Chu and Wei Shuying were cooking Qin Fan’s favorite dishes together. When the sudden shout came from outside, Wei Shuying exclaimed, "He’s back!"

She hastily put down what she was holding and ran out, not even bothering to untie her apron, completely overwhelmed with excitement.

"Slow down! What’s the hurry?" Qin Chu called out with an amused laugh, watching her hurried figure retreat.

Although he missed Qin Fan just as much as Wei Shuying did, he maintained the composure befitting his role as a father.

Ignoring Qin Chu’s call, Wei Shuying rushed out of the villa, unable to wait another second. She looked at the face before her, which seemed to have grown even more handsome, and was brimming with a sunny smile. "You little rascal," she said excitedly, "why didn’t you let us know you’d landed so your dad could have picked you up!"

"Haha, I wanted to surprise you! Mom, where’s Dad?" Qin Fan laughed, holding onto a slightly trembling Jiang Yino.

"Your dad’s in the kitchen, busy cooking your favorite food! And this is...?"

Just as she finished her sentence, Wei Shuying’s eyes shot wide. She stared at the girl whose hand Qin Fan was holding, her mouth agape as if she were frozen in place.

"Hello, Auntie! My name is Jiang Yino. I’m—I’m Qin Fan’s girlfriend!"

She didn’t wait for Qin Fan to make the introduction.

Taking a deep breath to steel herself, she let go of Qin Fan’s hand and stepped forward. Her heart was pounding like a drum, but she did her best to keep a smile on her face. Though she hesitated slightly when saying the words "Qin Fan’s girlfriend," she ultimately mustered the courage to say them aloud.

"So you’re Yinuo? Oh my! Come, come, let Auntie get a good look at you!" Wei Shuying exclaimed, her face beaming with joy as she snapped out of her stupor.

Without waiting for them to come in, she eagerly stepped over the threshold to greet Jiang Yino. At this moment, Wei Shuying had none of the air of the formidable queen of the business world. She was the very picture of a gentle, down-to-earth, loving mother.

Wei Shuying’s reaction immediately lifted the immense pressure from Jiang Yino’s heart. She let out a quiet sigh of relief as her nervousness quickly faded.

"Auntie, you know me? Did Qin Fan tell you?" Jiang Yino asked, a little surprised, her spirits lifted by Wei Shuying’s warm demeanor.

"Ah? Yes! That stinky boy never stops talking about how wonderful you are whenever he calls. I almost couldn’t resist going to Jinling to see for myself! I’m surprised the kid wasn’t exaggerating. This face, this figure... you’re perfect from every angle, hahaha!"

Wei Shuying, a veteran of the business world, was now showcasing her high emotional intelligence. Jiang Yino’s question could have put her on the spot, but she answered it instantly with a seamless, joyful laugh. The truth was, she didn’t know about Jiang Yino from Qin Fan. In fact, he had never mentioned her. Wei Shuying only knew of her because of the Jinling Mansion incident. After it happened, she and her husband had asked about Jiang Yino, but Qin Fan had simply brushed it off, saying he would bring her home for the holidays. They never expected him to actually do it.

Of course, Wei Shuying couldn’t possibly reveal any of this. How embarrassing would that be for the poor girl? It wasn’t just Qin Chu and Wei Shuying who knew of Jiang Yino; in the current upper echelons of Huaxia society, her name was known to almost everyone. Countless people had likely investigated her background and family details. After all, she was one of the people under Qin Fan’s absolute protection. Who would dare to be careless? Who would dare to overlook her?

"Auntie, you flatter me!" Jiang Yino said, blushing shyly at Wei Shuying’s radiant smile and praise.

"It’s not flattery, it’s the truth! Come, Yinuo, let’s go inside and sit down!" As she spoke, Wei Shuying started to reach for Jiang Yino’s hand but stopped halfway, remembering the oil on her hands from cooking. "Ah, Auntie was just cooking, so my hands are oily. I won’t grab you! Come, come, let’s go!"

At that moment, Wei Shuying seemed to have completely forgotten about Qin Fan. Her eyes were only on Jiang Yino, as if she’d forgotten her own overwhelming anticipation from moments before. But this was normal; most mothers in the world are the same.

"It’s alright, Auntie!" Without any pretense, perhaps emboldened by Wei Shuying’s words, Jiang Yino found a sudden surge of courage and gracefully took Wei Shuying’s hand herself.

"Oh—haha! Good, good!" Wei Shuying laughed, covering her mouth with her free hand. Led by Jiang Yino, she turned and walked back into the villa.

As for Qin Fan, he was utterly forgotten.

"Seriously?" Qin Fan muttered to himself as he watched his mother and Jiang Yino walk away without him. Despite his words, a heartfelt, joyful smile spread across his face.

"Qin Chu, stop what you’re doing and come out for a moment!" Wei Shuying called toward the kitchen as soon as she stepped inside.

"What is it?" Qin Chu asked, putting down his utensils and walking out, still wearing his apron.

"Look! This is our daughter-in-law. What do you think? Are you satisfied?" Wei Shuying announced immediately.

"Daughter-in-law? The legendary Jiang Yino?" Qin Chu was stunned for a second. Then, as he looked Jiang Yino over, a satisfied smile lit up his face. "That little rascal certainly has good taste! Haha, not bad, not bad at all. Yinuo, right? Have a seat. I’ll just finish up those last few dishes in the kitchen. Shuying, you don’t need to come back in. Just give me your apron and spend some time chatting with Yinuo."

"Deal!" Wei Shuying winked, swiftly taking off her apron and handing it to Qin Chu.

"Ahem, Mom, Dad... am I actually your biological child?" the neglected Qin Fan asked with a dry cough as he finally walked in the door.

"You were born from a stone!" Wei Shuying, finally remembering him, retorted with a playful smile. "I just happened to be passing by and picked you up. You must be a descendant of Sun Wukong!"

She then turned back to Jiang Yino. "Yinuo, let Auntie show you to the washroom so you can wash your hands."

"Okay, thank you!" Jiang Yino agreed with a graceful smile. Where had all the nervousness she felt before entering the manor gone? She seemed to have completely blended into the family already.

"Dad, are you going to ignore me too?" Qin Fan asked, turning to his father.

"Find a place to sit yourself. There’s water and fruit on the coffee table. Help yourself." Although his eyes were filled with deep, fatherly love, his words didn’t show it. With a final smile, he turned and headed back to the kitchen.
