Chapter 628: Chapter 598: The Beauty Pie Falling from the Sky! (2)
Jinling Mansion.
The Bo Residence.
Looking at the clock on the wall, Bao Qiudong spoke incoherently to Bo Xianmin, his voice choked with panic. "Dad, we’re running out of time! Let’s go! Let’s get away from that mad dog, please! It’s too late, it’s really too late!"
He had been repeating this same plea since ten o’clock, but Bo Xianmin had yet to give him any response. The ashtray on the coffee table, however, was now crammed full of cigarette butts.
"Old Bo, say something! What should we do? What on earth are we going to do?" his wife cried out, her body trembling violently beside him.
Before she knew the details, she had been panicked but composed. After learning the truth, she was both panicked and disoriented. Discovering Qin Fan’s various identities turned that panic into pure terror. Now, after hearing Bo Xianmin say that their superiors had abandoned them, all she could do was tremble and beg.
Neither she nor Bao Qiudong dared to flee on their own. After all, without Bo Xianmin, they would have very few privileges during their escape. If they came face to face with Qin Fan, or even men dispatched by him, the only path left for them was death. With this grim realization, their only option was to plead.
"Leave? Do you really think we can get away?" Stubbing out another cigarette, Bo Xianmin continued in a hoarse voice, "The entire city of Jinling is watching us right now. Do you think for a second that with the slightest move, no one would tip him off? Do you think no one would seize the opportunity to curry favor with Qin Fan by betraying us? When a tree falls, the monkeys scatter; when the host leaves, the tea grows cold! Rather than struggling pointlessly in panic like a stray dog, we’re better off waiting right here! At the very least, we can still hope that Beijing might work a miracle and give us a chance to escape this!"
"Dad, he’s going to kill us, he definitely will! We can’t just wait here to die, we absolutely can’t!" Hearing his father’s words, Bao Qiudong leaped up and staggered backward, screaming in even greater terror.
"You should have thought of the consequences before you started this! If it weren’t for your stupidity, would things have come to this? Forget it, it’s pointless to talk about it now. What will be, will be. There’s no escaping a curse. If the storm has to come, then let it come!" Resigned to his fate, Bo Xianmin covered his face with his hands. In that moment, he seemed to have aged ten years from just two hours prior. All his strength was drained, and his body slumped limply on the sofa.
"No, no, no, I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die! If you won’t go, I will!" His mind in shambles, Bao Qiudong had lost all capacity for logical thought. Shaking his head, he cried out and staggered toward the front door for a desperate run.
"Qiudong!" his mother shrieked in alarm, leaping up from the sofa.
"Let him go," Bo Xianmin said, his face pale. "If my life can be traded for the continuation of the Bo family line, then it’s worth it."
His wife, who had been about to chase after their son, froze.
Yes, if she and her husband could shield Qiudong from this calamity, what did it matter if they died?
When it came to their child, parents always put themselves last. Even though Bao Qiudong had brought this disaster upon them, Mr. and Mrs. Bo were willing to repay his karmic debt, if only it were possible.
BANG!
Bao Qiudong slammed the door behind him. His stumbling figure entered the elevator, muttering to himself as if possessed. With his hands pressed together in constant prayer, he looked like a complete madman.
DING!
A moment later, the elevator reached the ground floor. Faced with the open doors, Bao Qiudong hurriedly dashed out.
"The Bo family is finished!"
"The Bo family is finished!"
"The Bo family is finished!"
Within Jinling Mansion, many sleepless residents watched from their balconies as the lone figure fled under the lights, all of them shaking their heads and sighing. They lamented how the foundation that took the Bo family generations to build had been destroyed in an instant, and now, even their very lives were on the brink of being lost.
「At the same time, outside the mansion.」
Qin Fan’s figure was drawing ever closer. He didn’t use his inhuman speed for a quick resolution. He had said he would arrive at exactly midnight, and he would be neither early nor late.
CLICK!
The very second the clock ticked past midnight, Qin Fan’s precisely timed footsteps crossed the threshold of the mansion’s gate.
"I am Qin Fan, here to collect a debt," he stated plainly to the two specially trained security guards at the entrance.
The two guards, standing ramrod straight, blinked at his words but remained silent. They had already received their orders.
Seeing the two guards standing as still as statues, Qin Fan nodded expressionlessly. The next moment, he vaulted over the two-meter-high electronic gate.
Just as Qin Fan landed inside, Bao Qiudong started his car. He flicked on the headlights, wrenched the steering wheel, and stomped on the accelerator. The car roared to life and shot forward.
But there, at the very edge of the headlights’ beam, was the cold, impassive figure of Qin Fan, walking slowly toward him.
SCREECH!
The moment he saw Qin Fan, Bao Qiudong instinctively slammed on the brakes.
"No, no, no!" he babbled, shaking his head incessantly as he watched Qin Fan’s unhurried advance.
Suddenly, the terror on his face twisted into a feral snarl. A crazed, desperate look contorted his features.
"Qin Fan, I’ll fucking send you to Western Heaven!" he shrieked, his voice trembling with hysteria as his sweaty palms tightened on the steering wheel.
Aiming directly at the approaching Qin Fan, Bao Qiudong slammed the accelerator to the floor. The engine howled as it revved, and the exhaust pipe roared. The car charged forward, a mindless, metal beast bent on destruction.
