Chapter 1129: Chapter 73: No Need to Court Death

There’s no need to go to Ning Zesheng’s place to ’face death,’ and since there’s no event today, Qiao Anlu feels life couldn’t be more wonderful.

She applies a facial mask, turns on the TV to watch the recent hit drama "Chu Feng’s Story," and lies on the sofa, snacking with one hand.

This is the beauty of life, nothing more!

While indulging in this bliss, the doorbell suddenly rings.

So late...

Whether it’s Xiao Kui or Ada, she must be ready to scold them!

She goes to open the door, is startled, and quickly shuts it again, taking a few deep breaths. Then she quickly rushes into her room, changes clothes to cover herself fully, removes the mask from her face, and cautiously opens the door.

When she first opened the door, she startled Ning Zesheng a bit. Since it’s late summer and still a bit hot, she was just wearing a silk camisole at home, which in Ning Zesheng’s eyes, was almost like not wearing anything at all.

Opening the door again, she is now properly dressed.

Ning Zesheng, unfazed, slightly purses his lips and then steps inside.

Qiao Anlu carefully tucks the hair in front behind her ear, moves aside, and makes way for him to come in.

"Mr. Ning, how did you know I live here?" she asks, taking small steps behind him. Seeing him walking further in, she hurriedly rushes to the living room to tidy up in a panic.

Arriving at a mess, Ning Zesheng stops, seemingly waiting for her to clean up.

She quickly drags and tosses clothes into the room, briskly and efficiently. Just as she’s about to finish, Ning Zesheng walks over, lowers his head, sees the sofa covered in snack crumbs, and steps back.

Qiao Anlu’s sharp eyes caught this, and she goes over to knead the sofa briefly, then somehow pulls out a cushion to place on it. She then stands obediently to the side, waiting for Ning Zesheng to take a seat.

Only then does Ning Zesheng sit down, and Qiao Anlu swiftly goes over to pour him some tea.

"Well, I’m always rushing to engagements, so I only have plain water at home," Qiao Anlu offers the water to him, "and this is the only cup."

Ning Zesheng accepts it, noticing the lipstick mark on the cup, glances at her, and sets the cup on the coffee table.

Qiao Anlu’s heart races with his every move, practically stopping her breath.

"Mr. Ning, well, I didn’t go to your house today. Sister Ada should have explained the reason to you, right?" she probes.

Ning Zesheng bluntly asks, "So, what’s this about a car crash?"

He’s been scrutinizing her the entire time since entering, "You seem fine."

Qiao Anlu is startled. She had used a car crash as an excuse not to go, but now, indeed, she seems fine!

Standing there, she’s momentarily unsure of what to do, but a sudden idea strikes her. She dramatically throws herself onto the sofa, "But I was so scared!"

She even lets out a couple of over-the-top exclamations, her acting quite exaggerated.

No wonder she’s become a leading lady, yet still just a pretty face!

However, if her acting were to ever improve, he’d find that strange!

Ning Zesheng turns his head to look down at her, still unfazed. Qiao Anlu feels she can hardly keep up the act but must continue.

"Mr. Ning, I was nearly scared to death. Don’t you see how much junk food I ate to fill my shocked, empty heart?" she points to the mess on the coffee table.

Indeed, she ate quite a lot!
