Chapter 254: Chapter 213: Monster Girls Are the Most Popular

Roline looked at the weirdo in the skintight suit before her, somewhat bewildered. She could sense he was a Legendary Mage.

This only puzzled her more.

Why would a Legendary Mage dress like this?

A hideous leather suit, an ugly hood... it looked like something a Desire Demon from Hell would force its "pet" to wear, just without the chains and gag...

’Could it be that Humans have some new custom?’

Roline hadn’t been to Human lands in several hundred years. After all, given her status, rashly appearing anywhere outside the Dark Nether Realm would trigger a major incident.

From what she knew of the Human race, they came up with new customs every so often—about every few decades to a century.

In fact, many Human traditions weren’t even as old as she was.

Amid her confusion, she realized she might have picked a poor spot to teleport to.

She vaguely recalled Zog telling her to teleport to a specific location in Twin Tower City.

But she had been so lost in her daydreams of mentoring the Elves that she hadn’t quite caught the exact location.

She figured it wasn’t a big deal, though. ’Since Zog invited me to Twin Tower City, it must mean he already has it under his control.’

’It’s perfectly reasonable for an Ancient Dragon to take over a city.’

’So, as long as I teleport somewhere in the city, Zog’s subordinates will naturally inform him once they find me.’

So, using the map, she chose a spot by the river to teleport to.

She liked rivers—surface rivers, to be precise. She felt they were far more beautiful than the turbulent undercurrents beneath the ground, and there was no risk of hideous things like Bottom-dwelling Demon Fish suddenly leaping out.

After arriving in Twin Tower City, the first person to spot her was a strange man with a flaming head and a flashy cape. He took one look at her, screamed, and fled.

Roline reasonably assumed the man had gone to inform Zog.

However, it wasn’t Zog who arrived, but a Legendary Mage known as the High Tower Hero.

He was even striking a bizarre pose.

And he wasn’t saying a word.

’What in the world is this supposed to mean?’

’Oh, I get it!’

After a moment of thought, the "clever" Spider Elf came to her own conclusion.

’It’s a welcoming ceremony!’

This was one of the pitfalls of the Feilin Continent: because of Extraordinary Power, its leaders were typically not the sharpest minds, but the strongest fighters.

The two rarely coexisted in the same individual.

In Roline’s mind, if this was a welcoming ceremony, then she ought to show some courtesy in return.

She then began to mimic the High Tower Hero’s "greeting pose."

————————

Soron never would have imagined that this Spider Elf would actually mimic his pose.

’A taunt. This is definitely a taunt.’

’I’m the great Legendary of Twin Tower City! How can I just let this slide?’

He immediately cast a Defense Array, enclosing both himself and the Spider Elf within it.

As the guardian of Twin Tower City, despite being a bit hot-headed at the moment, he still maintained a fair degree of rationality.

’I have to prevent the fallout from the battle from affecting the city’s other inhabitants.’

Moreover, this Defense Array consisted of several opaque Elemental Walls, which blocked the view of the live broadcast.

That way, if his performance happened to be a bit embarrassing, the audience watching on their Magic Vision Devices wouldn’t see it.

He had a serious public image to maintain.

Soron’s plan now was to stall for time, waiting for the other High Level combatants in the city to notice what was happening and come to his aid.

By his estimation, he couldn’t do enough damage to take on the Spider Elf by himself, but she probably couldn’t get through his Defense Technique either.

’A guaranteed win.’

’When the others show up, it will be because they came to help on their own. It won’t be because I, the High Tower Hero, couldn’t handle it and had to call for backup. My reputation will be intact.’

Soron considered his tactical arrangements to be flawless. ’Humans are cooperative beings. Who wants to fight you one-on-one?’

What he didn’t expect, however, was for reinforcements to arrive so quickly.

He had just raised the Defense Array when a red figure smashed right through an Elemental Wall and plunged inside.

Seeing it tear through his Protective Magic as if it were paper, he didn’t even have to think to know it was Zog.

The Red Dragon landed.

He had arrived in such a hurry that he hadn’t slowed down, crashing into the ground and creating a deep crater that sent bricks and dust flying.

A reporter outside the Defense Array hurriedly announced, "Did you all hear that? Just now, a tremendous crash came from inside the Defense Array! A fierce battle must be underway! Let us pray for the High Tower Hero and hope he can defeat his enemy."

"But there’s no need to panic, everyone. Nothing truly dangerous will happen, because we all know that Twin Tower City is under the protection of the famous Legendary Mage, Master Soron. We are in no danger..."

When the dust settled, Zog flapped his wings and floated out of the crater. He took in the scene and breathed a sigh of relief.

’Good, I made it before a fight broke out. A larger conflict has been avoided.’

He had brought Roline here to be a mentor on a variety show. If she killed some weirdo in a skintight suit in the middle of the street before the show even started, what kind of mentor would she be?

As strange as the man in the skintight suit was, he was still a Human. If a Spider Elf publicly killed him in a major city, it could easily be used as a reason for Humans and the Zor to go to war again.

The plan to redeem the Zor’s image would fail before it even began. To make matters worse, the Demon Vision broadcast would only reinforce the entire continent’s stereotypes about the Zor.

"Didn’t I tell you to teleport to the outskirts and wait for me to come get you?" Zog asked Roline.

’Oh, so he *did* say the outskirts.’

Roline knew she was in the wrong, but she couldn’t admit it. She was the queen of the largest Zor City State; even when she was at fault, she had to act as if she wasn’t.
