Chapter 225: X’Uric Returns
Senkhet had started thriving after the recent Beast War. Beast War was the name they’d given to the war that happened a few days ago. Through Bahamut and his team, Senkhet had reached a new era of prosperity, and that was a mutual agreement of peace between it and the beasts of the Eastern Dunes.
The beasts of the Eastern Dunes were an organized horde under the solar wyrm’s command, and they were the ones who had attacked Senkhet. The mutual agreement was that... Senkhet and the beasts of the Eastern Dunes, as they’d been named, would be allies. They wouldn’t attack each other, and they would protect each other.
The solar wyrm, now called Nagini, had become the contracted beast of Bahamut, so she could no longer stay at the dunes. Her child, Syrith, was the same. Bahamut now had three contracted beasts. And the best part was that he did not need to train his earth element. The solar wyrms were essentially earth beasts. The only reason why they were named solar wryms was that they were hybrid elemental beasts. Their natural element was earth, but they could use fire or enhance their strength with fire by using the sun as a source.
In modern terms, they were like solar panels. They generated power from the sun and used it to enhance their abilities. And any energy they got could also be stored. Just like the poison ivy, they were special beasts, and Bahamut was lucky to have two, with one even on the verge of breaking through to Tier 3. Unlike a summoned beast, whose power level was tied to their summoner, contracted beasts could be stronger or weaker than their masters. It all came down to control.
Most beast tamers never contracted a beast a tier or almost a tier above them because of backlash. If you failed to control the beast, you would face severe consequences. And a stronger beast could break the contract. So it was a no for a beast tamer to contract a beast more powerful than them. But Bahamut was different. He didn’t contract beasts as most people saw it. He rather added them to his herd, to his flock. The Apex Shepherd’s Law made it possible for him to add a beast more powerful than him to the flock, and they would never turn on him... And unlike contracts, this was a partnership just like a summoner and his summon.
In fact, Alana could be said to be his only contracted beast, while Nagini and Syrith fell under the flock.
Bahamut lay his head on Alana’s lap while looking through his system. It had been a long time since he checked, and every single time, he was amazed by how powerful he was becoming by the day. He had become so strong that he could barely feel the hold of the suppressors on him, but he knew better. He knew they were still working. He had just become accustomed to them. This made him wonder how powerful he would be when the suppressors were taken off.

Bahamut was just reading through when he heard the sounds of panic and the frantic steps of people. Because of his insanely high senses, which had increased even more after the recent battle, he could sense and view everything in the large town.
His senses followed till the main gate of the town.
Just beyond the wall was a ten-foot-tall beast with white fur streaked with red. It was a mix of a wolf and a dragon with four horns curving back. Its eyes were deep crimson: X’Uric. It, or rather he, had returned.
Bahamut immediately rushed out, not even bothering to put on his robes. The night was cold. The chill winds blew through the town and were more than enough for people to sleep through even a war, but with the presence of X’Uric, everyone was awake.
Forta and Hakim led a group of warriors to the wall. With their presence, no one foolishly attacked. They’d fought the beast and knew that it was the one who stopped the war in the first place.
So if it was back, then there had to be a reason.
As they rushed to the wall, something suddenly flashed past them. It was so fast that even as Tier 3s, they almost failed to see it.
"Bahamut!" Hakim screamed and rushed after him, thinking that he was going to attack the beast. He had seen how Bahamut fought, and even with restraint, he noticed how barbaric he was when he fought. Such a person would foolishly choose death over food. That was a weird analogy, but a berserker would always take challenges even if it meant death.
Golden wings beat behind Bahamut, propelling him up the wall with speed. Hakim landed on the wall right after him and was moving to hold him back when he heard the beast speak.
"We meet again, Young Master."
"Young Master?!" Hakim exclaimed in shock, but both Bahamut and X’Uric ignored him. They were in a battle of stares.
"What do you mean by that? I don’t know you," Bahamut said in a dark voice, but his eyes held curiosity and confusion.
"I know your parents. I was assigned to be your protector, your friend, and your shadow," X’Uric said with a smile.
"My parents? I..."
"They really love you. Circumstances had made it almost impossible for them to meet you. But looking at how easily you tamed the little wyrm and her child, I am sure you’ve met them or a part of them."
’Does he mean the goat man and that beast lady?’
"From your expression, I am sure you’ve met a part of them. Well, that is a story for later. For now, I am here... to stay."
"Why?"
"Huh?"
"Why come now? After all this time..."
"I apologize for that. Some things cannot be shared. But let’s just say, I had to settle some stuff before."
"Stuff?"
"I will explain when we are alone. Oh... I also brought something. For the town," X’Uric’s gaze switched to Hakim and Forta, making them look at him in confusion.
