Chapter 181: Chapter 181: The Strange Forest
Oliver was sleeping but kept feeling rainwater pattering on his face. He stretched his hand up to rub his face and muttered softly:
"Daddy, Papa, it seems like our house is leaking."
The surroundings were completely silent, and there was no answering sound from his two fathers. The rainwater still kept pattering on his face. Oliver was annoyed and opened his eyes wide, and he immediately faced a blood-red mouth. He was startled and screamed loudly, and he instinctively swung his hand to throw a water arrow to attack, while simultaneously standing on his toes and jumping back a few steps.
It was unclear what had happened; the normal water arrow that should have pierced the strange creature’s head now only drenched the creature’s face. The beast watched the prey at its mouth suddenly run away, and water splashed to wet its face, so the beast was furious, let out a roar, stomped its hooves on the ground, and lunged forward.
Oliver could only throw water arrows and run for his life at the same time. Unexpectedly, strange wild beasts swarmed out from all directions and blocked all of his escape routes. Oliver was scared to tears and shouted loudly:
"BOO HOO, PAPA, DADDY! SAVE ME! BROTHERS, PLEASE SAVE ME!"
There were three wolf-like wild beasts with three eyes on their heads blocking the way ahead. Oliver had no choice and had to turn into another path. This place was full of massive ancient trees, and the tree roots protruding above the ground were even larger than Daddy’s true form. Oliver could not climb over the roots, so he could only bend down and squeeze through.
Running on two legs was too cumbersome, so he transformed back into his true form and used his tail to slither. The three-eyed wolf pack still chased closely behind, and Oliver did not dare to turn his head to look back, only relying on his ears to distinguish the sounds.
’Thud!’
"Ah ah ah!!!"
There was a steep slope behind a large tree root. Because he rushed past too quickly, Oliver lost his balance and rolled all the way down. His body rolled at an extremely fast speed, and he slammed hard into the base of an ancient tree at the end of the slope. Oliver only felt that his bones seemed to have shattered into pieces, and blood and fragments of internal organs spewed out and fell on the ground.
His body collapsed, and he watched helplessly as the three-eyed wolf pack lunged toward him.

Papa... Daddy... Brothers... I will see you in the next life!
Right when the wolf’s mouth leaned close to his face, a white shadow lunged from the side and bit fiercely into the wolf’s neck. Oliver’s vision became blurry, and before passing out, he only saw a layer of shiny silver scales glide past his face, which were even and neat just like Daddy’s scales...

Finnick struggled to carry Ryder on his back, and he still held Chloe in his mouth while limping toward the stream bank. He had just fought with a lightning-attribute black panther, and his right hind leg was bitten and broken by the panther.
He had to risk his life with all his might to finish off the black panther. He bandaged the wound roughly and then took the unconscious Ryder and Chloe away from that area, as he was afraid the smell of blood would attract more terrifying enemies. He walked for a while and met this stream, and he tried his best to drag himself to the edge of the stream bank before he collapsed.
He dropped Chloe from his mouth, and he used all his strength to place Ryder down neatly. Finnick transformed into his human form, and he used his hands to scoop up water and drank eagerly. After he finished drinking, he used a large leaf, rolled the leaf up, and brought water to feed Ryder and Chloe.
Chloe looked truly pathetic right now. The beautiful leaf dress that the little girl was always proud of was now torn to shreds, and even the canopy of leaves that spread out like a crown on her head was completely bare. If Chloe woke up and saw her current appearance, she would definitely cry endlessly.
As for Ryder, he was previously a chubby mouse with two plump cheeks and soft, fluffy downy fur. Now, his fur was bald in one patch and jagged like a dog’s chewing in another patch, and furthermore, he was incredibly skinny to the bone with his cheeks sunken in as if he had been starved for a long time.
Finnick tilted his head up to look at the sky, and he looked at the clear blue sky through the gaps in the leaves to guess that they were no longer in the tribe. As for exactly where they were, he truly did not know. That lightning-attribute black panther looked like a magical beast in the magical beast forest at first glance, but Finnick was old enough to know the differences of this place. The magical beast forest did not have mushrooms as big as bushes, and it did not have glowing flowers.
Finnick’s stomach grumbled loudly, so he had to find two straight tree branches and pull a few vines to temporarily bandage his broken leg. After that, he used the vines to tie simple knots to make a net bag, and he placed Ryder and Chloe inside, wore the bag around his neck, and leaned on a cane to limp away from the water pool area.
Wild beasts would definitely come to this place to drink water, so they could not stay. He had to first find a temporarily safe cave to settle the two unconscious people, and after that, he could go look for food. He also did not know where everyone was right now, and whether they had fallen into the same place as them.
Finnick walked for a while, and he did not find a cave, but he found a fairly large tree hollow opposite the cliff where he was standing.
He memorized the shape of the tree, and after that, he followed the slope of the cliff and slowly walked down. When he arrived at the place, he discovered that the height of the hollow was much higher than he thought, and it must be twice as high as an adult.
He placed his hand on a vine, transformed the vine into a mobile elevator, and brought the three of them up there.

The space inside the tree hollow was so large that stuffing forty more children like him would still fit. The opening of the hollow was just enough for him to stand straight and walk in and out.
There were also a few fruits and some shriveled seeds inside, which he guessed belonged to some squirrel. There were no fresh fruits, and the leaf cushion lining the nest had also rotted, which proved that the owner of the ’house’ had not returned for a long time.
Maybe it had moved away, or maybe it had died, and now, it became Finnick’s temporary shelter.
He threw all the rotten leaves and spoiled food inside to the outside. Fortunately, there was a small hole about the size of a child’s fist on the wall of the tree hollow, which replaced a window, so the musty smell inside the tree hollow was not too strong. Finnick only needed to clean up briefly, and he used Divine Energy to roll up some fresh, soft grass leaves to be able to stay temporarily.
He first placed Ryder and Chloe down on the grass mattress, and after that, Finnick sat with his back against the wall and focused his Divine Energy to heal his leg.
To prevent his leg from becoming deformed later, Finnick recalled the bone-bandaging skills that Uncle Draven frequently taught the medics. First, he removed the temporary splint, then he closed his eyes, directed his Divine Energy to focus on his leg, and inspected the fracture. Fortunately, the bone was only broken in two places and not shattered into pieces, and he only needed to adjust the bone to the correct position and use Divine Energy to regenerate the leg.
Finnick used Divine Energy again to observe his intact left leg, and he memorized the specific position of the femur, and after that, he gritted his teeth and used his hands to realign his right femur. Without anesthesia, this heart-rending pain made Finnick want to pass out several times. He only finished adjusting the bone half an hour later, and his entire body was drenched in sweat from top to bottom.
He opened his mouth and panted for a while, and then Finnick used Divine Energy to start the healing process. For some unknown reason, Finnick felt the Magical Energy in his body was extremely abundant, which was completely different from the feeling of having his Magical Energy drained completely before being swept here. He closed his eyes, concentrated his spirit to feel, and discovered that the spiritual energy in this place was countless, and it was at least five times more than the spiritual energy in the Southern Continent.
Finnick’s eyes flashed with light, and with just this dense level of spiritual energy, he was confident enough that he could cultivate according to the high-level cultivation technique that Brother Edward brought back. Fortunately, his memory was not bad, and he had already memorized the incantations in his brain early on.
After he solved the problem with his leg, Finnick sat cross-legged first, absorbed the spiritual energy to replenish the amount of Magical Energy he had just consumed, and after that, he started to stand up and organize the tree hollow.
Even though his stomach was very hungry, the tree hollow was wide open on all sides without anything to shield it, and he was afraid that when he went hunting, wild beasts would come and harm Ryder and Chloe. Making an advanced door like the architecture team in the tribe was impossible, but making a door with solid cast wood and a pivot hinge was something he could still do.
Finnick worked hard to chisel and carve, and he made adjustments for about two hours before making a round door and attaching it to the tree trunk. As soon as he closed the door, the space immediately became pitch black. Fortunately, there was still the ’window’ on the wall to provide ventilation, so it was not to the point of being unable to breathe. Finnick thought for a moment, and he still used his claws to grind and carve, and he chiseled another round hole on the door to ensure it was just enough to get light but not too wide for snakes to crawl in.
After finishing, he went outside, closed the door, used the vine elevator to climb down, and walked toward the water pool to hunt. Even if he could not catch land animals, catching a few fish to grill and eat temporarily would not be bad either.
Luck had smiled upon him. The sky had turned to afternoon, and the animals coming to the water pool to drink water were indeed not few.

Finnick hid in the shadows and chose for a while, and he decided to pick two fat rabbits as big as an adult’s thigh. The two rabbits lowered their heads to drink water, and they would occasionally look up to keep watch while their ears twitched.
The surprise happened too quickly, and the grass under the two rabbits’ feet suddenly grew wildly and tightly constricted them. The two rabbits struggled very hard, but the grass constricted them even tighter. After a few cracking sounds rang out, the two rabbits no longer had any movements.
The hunting process was completely bloodless. The animals by the pool were only curious because the grass suddenly grew high, and they were completely not scared away. Finnick did not reveal himself, and he only used vines to pull the two rabbits toward him. Taking advantage of the time when the rabbit blood had not yet coagulated, Finnick used his claws to slash a line right on the main artery of one rabbit, and he lowered his head to drink the blood.
In a wilderness survival situation without salt, drinking fresh blood was the best way to replenish salt. Anyway, in this case, eating cooked food and drinking boiled water could no longer be applied.
After he finished drinking the blood of one rabbit, Finnick took the water tube hollowed out from a tree trunk that he had prepared earlier, slashed the main artery of the remaining rabbit, and filled the tube completely with blood. After he finished collecting the blood, he used leaves and vines to tightly tie the mouth of the tube and placed it to the side.
He carried the two rabbits on his back and jumped to a flat rock outcropping in the middle of the lake. Finnick began the brutal process of skinning and gutting.
After he finished skinning, he threw all the internal organs into the pool to feed the fish, and as for the intact rabbit skins, he also faced the inner skin side down and let the fish in the lake help nibble away the excess meat and fat inside.
After all, he was a beastman. Aside from eating and playing, beast cubs were also briefly taught about basic survival knowledge such as making a fire to grill food, tanning leather, and finding safe shelters.
After he finished doing everything, Finnick wrapped the rabbit meat in large broad leaves, and he picked up some more dry firewood and brought everything back to his temporary shelter. Just as he had said, the inside of the tree hollow was extremely large, and it was enough for him to grill meat inside.
First, he found a hollow grass stalk, beveled one end diagonally, and then ground down all the sharp edges, and he tilted the blood tube, scooped a spoonful, and fed the blood to the little mouse to drink. Fortunately, even though the little mouse was unconscious, he could still swallow liquid food.
After feeding the little mouse half of the fresh blood, Finnick lifted Chloe up again and dipped the whole plant into the remaining half tube of blood. He only had an extremely simple thought, which was that beastmen drank blood to sustain life, so plants must be the same as well.
However, Finnick did not know at all that his action had unintentionally caused a mutation for Chloe. Later on, she even threw a tantrum at Finnick for a very long time, and she constantly demanded to cancel the contract...
