Chapter 166: Chapter 166: Priceless Information
The Fang tribe lived primarily in caves. Their tribe mainly consisted of beastmen; Sub-Beasts and cubs were very few, so the tribe allowed a Sub-Beast to choose multiple beastman husbands.
Regarding this, the Crimson people made absolutely no comments.
In a situation where Sub-Beasts were excessively scarce, this was also a method to ensure the tribe’s next generation. Furthermore, having two or more beastmen in a family meant life would be more prosperous.
However, it also caused some drawbacks. For example, the reproductive cycle of Sub-Beasts was too short, leading to severe physical damage. No matter how carefully their beastmen cared for them, every winter there were still a few Sub-Beasts who couldn’t endure it and returned to the Beast God’s embrace.
Upon arriving at the Fang tribe, what Kaelen cared about the most wasn’t how to exploit this tribe’s resources, but frowning at the frail Sub-Beasts who had to stop and gasp for breath after every step.
He said to the old Priest of the Fang tribe: "Excuse me, please gather all the Sub-Beasts and cubs of the tribe here first."
Even though he didn’t understand what this Priest disciple from a large tribe wanted to do, the old Priest still ordered his disciples to carry it out.
In just a short while, the Sub-Beasts and cubs were all huddled together in one place.
"Sir Cael, they have arrived. There are still a few who are too severely ill; currently, there is no way to bring them outside."
Kaelen nodded, leaving his medical squad to examine the people outside, while he and Draven went to the houses of the severely ill.
Arriving at the first house, just stepping to the cave entrance, they heard heart-rending, lung-tearing coughing coming from inside. The Priest disciple of the Fang tribe called out with a moderate voice into the cave:
"Holden, are you home?" The coughing suddenly stopped for a moment, but then uncontrollably continued. From inside the cave, a tall, gaunt beastman walked out, his eye sockets still a bit red.

"Yes, I am here. What do you need me for?"
The Priest disciple said: "These are Sir Cael and Sir Draven from the Crimson tribe. They want to visit your mate."
The gaunt beastman nodded, inviting them inside, and said embarrassedly: "The house is a bit messy, I hope you don’t mind."
Just stepping inside, both Kaelen and Draven frowned simultaneously.
The cave was dark and damp; there was little light and it was stuffy. The smoke from the fire burning in the middle of the cave lingered on the ceiling for a long time before flowing out. Even a normal person staying long would get sick, let alone a patient.
The gaunt beastman sluggishly carried two wooden chairs made from cut tree trunk sections, placing them near his family’s stone bed. The Sub-Beast lying on his side on the bed wanted to sit up to greet them, but Kaelen pressed him down and said:
"Just lie still, no need to sit up."
He settled the Sub-Beast neatly back onto the bed, then asked the Sub-Beast to extend his hand so he could take his pulse. After taking the pulse, Kaelen turned back and asked the beastman:
"Was your mate not cared for properly during childbirth? And then during the winter, did you keep the fire burning continuously and tightly seal the cave entrance?"
The beastman nodded and said: "My mate gave birth exactly during the past winter. At that time, his other beastman husband, Sav, unfortunately passed away. He couldn’t bear the shock and gave birth prematurely. The child couldn’t be saved either. After that, he fell ill and it has been getting worse and worse."
Kaelen understood the problem. This Sub-Beast had contracted tuberculosis, plus physical damage from childbirth; it was one illness piling onto another. More severely, he had a knot in his heart, leading to severe depression. Fortunately, he still had another mate staying by his side every day, which prevented the depression from worsening.
He recited the symptoms, and Draven was responsible for recording them. After finishing the notes, Draven immediately said to the beastman:
"Your mate cannot stay at home. Later, when our medical tent is set up, we will bring him there. Please cooperate with us."
The beastman’s eyes turned red: "Can my mate still be saved?"
Draven nodded affirmatively: "He can be saved. But you must absolutely obey our healers."
The beastman nodded profusely: "Thank you! Thank you!"
The Sub-Beast coughed while struggling to ask: "Is it... cough... is it expensive... cough cough!"

Kaelen understood his meaning; he was worried the medical fees would be too expensive. It made sense. A beastman staying by his mate’s side to care for him every day would definitely gather fewer supplies. Relying solely on the portion distributed by the tribe would certainly not be enough to cover a massive medical bill.
Kaelen smiled and said: "It’s free of charge. Alright, lie down and rest; later our people will come to pick you up. I have to go to other houses as well."
Saying goodbye to Holden and his mate, the three of them went to the next houses. The living conditions of the remaining houses were identical to the first one, and the severity of the illnesses varied. Mainly they were bone and joint diseases, lung diseases, and severe physical exhaustion.
For these people, Kaelen placed them in separate treatment areas. Sane and the Crimson warriors also helped them demonstrate how to modify three stone caves into the style Kaelen had previously improved in Obsidian.
They stayed at Fang for five days, primarily helping with medical treatment, repairing houses, and planning land reclamation. There was nothing special around the Fang tribe either; mostly they were plant types Crimson had discovered previously. Kaelen planned three areas for them to grow barley, oats, and potatoes.
As for the barley and oats, they still needed the Crimson agricultural production squad to come and assist. Kaelen told them to plant potatoes first.
Regarding the people’s livelihood, Kaelen left a healer from the medical squad behind to help care for the patients and to popularize personal hygiene procedures as well as maintain public hygiene for the entire tribe, minimizing the risk of disease as much as possible.
During that time, Kaelen and Sane also took the opportunity to gather some useful information from beastmen who had escaped from the Beast City, high-level cities, and mid-level tribes. These people were hunted down or chased away primarily due to their dissatisfaction with the increasingly dictatorial regime of the Beast City and the Temple.
"In the past hundred years, after the three most important leaders of the Beast City—the Temple Lord, the Holy Son, and the City Lord—passed away one after another, the new people who took their places began to implement a series of demands.
Furthermore, the new Temple Lord is becoming increasingly insane; he even sacrifices living people. The people are offered up by the new City Lord. Some of us secretly released people, some protested, which is why we became wandering beastmen."
Sane narrowed his eyes, catching the main point: "The three most important people passed away one after another? Did anyone see them pass away with their own eyes?"
The beastmen looked at each other in confusion, then shook their heads: "We only heard the announcements from the Temple and the City Lord’s manor, we never saw it with our own eyes..."
Kaelen asked again: "Then... before these three passed away, what was their character like? Did they have any special achievements? Did they possess any outstanding abilities?"
The Red Fox clan beastman said: "I never got to meet the Temple Lord and the City Lord, but I once saw the Holy Son from afar. He was an incredibly powerful Snow Wolf clan beastman. He had the ability to create lightning; his lightning bolts had a purple hue, sweeping away all obstacles wherever they passed."
This beastman’s eyes flashed with reverence for absolute power. Then, his expression sank:
"Unfortunately, when I just turned eighty, the Holy Son fell. The Temple said it was precisely because he harbored demonic power that he was stripped of his Divine status and banished to the Avici Hell." The Red Fox beastman’s voice choked up slightly: "I don’t believe it. They were so great..."
An elderly Antelope clan beastman raised his head as if recalling a memory:
"That year, I witnessed the late Temple Lord’s power. He only needed to reach out his hand, and the trees would sprout, a hundred flowers would bloom, and birds would sing. Just standing near where the plants grew, all illnesses would vanish. How could such miraculous power belong to a fallen demon?"

A Bear clan beastman lamented: "Back then, the late City Lord still allowed low-level beastmen like us to live in the Beast City, as long as we paid enough taxes. After his son took over, all of us low-level beastmen were chased out of the Northern Continent. Which tribe would dare take us in besides the Fang tribe?"
One by one, they spoke of the good things about the Beast City and the Temple in the past, and also described the teleportation array between the two continents in quite detail. Before leaving, an elderly beastman suddenly said:
"Oh right, the year I was chased out of the Northern Continent, I took a good look at it once. In the area near the Temple, a very tall tree suddenly grew, even taller than the Temple’s roof."
After they left, Kaelen and Sane compiled the information and drew conclusions:
One, the deaths of those three people were fake; being imprisoned was the truth. And this was definitely related to that newly grown towering tree.
Two, the Temple and the City Lord’s manor were in cahoots.
Three, the one worshipped in that Temple was definitely an Evil God, and what they were about to face wasn’t a person, but a God.
The couple’s expressions turned heavy. Chloe suddenly spoke up: "Listening to that beastman describe the Divine Energy of the late Temple Lord and the late Holy Son, I find it quite similar to you two. Could it be that the Divine thought Ryder sensed a few days ago belonged to him?"
This possibility couldn’t be ruled out either...
Sane tapped the table, asking Chloe: "Do you have any way to help us advance to the Demigod level within half a year?!"
Chloe rolled her eyes: "Are you crazy or am I crazy?! Even if you were one hundred percent God, you couldn’t possibly jump from Mid-level to Demigod within haft a year, my dear! It isn’t even dark yet, so stop dreaming!"
Kaelen and Sane lowered their heads and sighed, feeling that the path to rescuing their son was just too arduous...
