Chapter 884 - It Was All an Act!
The possessed Lotus Heart Sage surveyed the field with cold authority as he gathered his Divine Authority for a devastating finishing blow against Han Wu.
Han Wu held nothing back, channeling every drop of gathered internal energy he had into his special ability. “Demon King Transformation!”
The arms of the Swordwind race, dragon claws, dragon wings, dragon scales, and powerful limbs manifested on Han Wu’s body. In the blink of an eye, his presence became infinitely close to that of a First-rate fighter.
Despite this, he was still weaker than the possessed Lotus Heart Sage. Han Wu pushed further to Demon King Transformation Stage Two, True Black Dragon King Transformation.
Powerful muscles swelled across his body. Oppressive Dragon Fear and a dense wave of darkness radiated from Han Wu, colliding head-on with the Lotus Heart Sage’s Divine Authority. For a moment, the two forces held each other in check.
The possessed Lotus Heart Sage’s attention was locked entirely on Han Wu. Han Wu’s power had stirred something in him. The True Martial Jurisdiction and the Duel Jurisdiction shared something in common. They both demanded constant battle for growth.
At that exact moment, the cowering Jia Gui suddenly came alive. His eyes lit up as he shot toward the Lotus Heart Sage’s back. He drove the blade he had found back in the city lord’s estate straight at the Lotus Heart Sage’s butt.
There were two reasons for this target. First, it was the spot with the weakest defenses, making it easier to penetrate. Second, the Lotus Heart Sage had already been stabbed there once. Divine Invocation had kept the wound from worsening, but a second blow to the same injury would surely deal catastrophic damage.
The twenty-centimeter-long blade stabbed easily into the butt. Jia Gui even twisted the handle inside. Blood poured freely from the already devastated wound. The Lotus Heart Sage’s momentum scattered in an instant as he turned to stare at Jia Gui in shock.
Jia Gui immediately put on a terrified face, released the blade, and scrambled back a good ten meters. He was genuinely afraid, but his strike was nothing short of betrayal.
“Don’t blame me. Han Wu made me do it. If you want to blame someone, blame him!” Jia Gui whimpered.
Han Wu wordlessly raised his fist. Terrifying Dark Energy and Dragon Fear converged on it. Without a shred of hesitation, he threw the punch. The force took the shape of a Black Dragon and crashed into the possessed Lotus Heart Sage, corroding every last trace of Divine Authority and forcing the True Martial God King to withdraw.
In the final second before leaving, he issued one last warning. “Han Wu, you haven’t won yet. The road is long. We’ll see each other again...”
With that, his presence faded from the Lotus Heart Sage’s body. Without the True Martial God King’s power sustaining him, the Lotus Heart Sage collapsed. A pool of blood stained the floor beneath him. The severe blood loss had left him with no strength left to resist. He knew he was done for, but the bitterness of this humiliating defeat was hard to swallow.
Qin Shuang seized the Lotus Heart Sage by the collar. “Tell me where my family is!”
The Lotus Heart Sage smirked. He was already a dead man. Why give his enemies anything?
“Talk! Tell me!” Qin Shuang shook him violently, but couldn’t get a single word out of him.
Han Wu released the True Black Dragon King Transformation and walked over. “Stop. It’s no use. He knows he’s done. He won’t say a thing.”
Qin Shuang panicked. If the Lotus Heart Sage died, the trail to her family would go cold.
“Han Wu, you have a way, right?” she asked desperately. “Tell me. I have to save my family.”
Han Wu raised an eyebrow. “How about this? Go wait outside. I’ll get the information you need.”
Qin Shuang hesitated but ultimately chose to trust him.
“Senior He Xu, you should step out too,” Han Wu added.
He Xu could guess what Han Wu was about to do and had no interest in watching.
Jia Gui tried to follow behind He Xu and leave as well, but Han Wu stopped him. “Jia Gui, you stay.”
“What do you need me for?” Jia Gui asked, confused.
“To keep watch,” Han Wu said plainly.
With that, he called out Xun to start “working” on the Lotus Heart Sage. The tiger bench and chili water were just appetizers. Then came the slicing, careful cuts in sensitive places, and even more creative options after.
Jia Gui watched, drenched in cold sweat and shaking. He nearly lost control of his bladder. These tortures were only a fraction of Han Wu’s arsenal. He had plenty more ways to break a man’s body and spirit while keeping him alive.
Two hours later, the Lotus Heart Sage finally cracked. Han Wu cross-checked the information, and only after confirming it was genuine did he show some mercy.
He drained the Lotus Heart Sage’s internal energy with the Kunpeng Divine Art, then finished him with a single strike. By the time the Lotus Heart Sage died, he was no longer in one piece but thirty.
Jia Gui felt chilled to the bone. If he ever had to endure that kind of treatment, he would give up everything in the first five seconds.
At that moment, Han Wu turned to look at him.
Jia Gui flinched. “Why are you staring at me? You’re scaring me.”
“Relax, Master Jia Gui. I was just demonstrating how to handle enemies and traitors. Don’t take it to heart.” Han Wu smiled warmly.
Jia Gui’s body went rigid at the word “traitors,” and he stumbled over himself to explain. “I didn’t betray anyone! It was all an act! I swear, I never meant to truly switch sides!”
“I believe you, Master Jia Gui.” Han Wu patted Jia Gui’s shoulder. “You did great this time.”
Han Wu’s hand was warm from the Lotus Heart Sage’s blood, but Jia Gui felt it like a red-hot branding iron against his heart. As Jia Gui stared in terror at Han Wu, he couldn’t help but feel that he had gained a new understanding of the word “evil.” If evil had a face, it would be Han Wu.
“Go change your clothes. You stink.” Han Wu wrinkled his nose.
Only then did Jia Gui realize he had unknowingly wet himself at some point during their short conversation.
