Chapter 880 - True Special Ability
Regaining his composure after the soldiers left, Han Feng turned to Han Wu and asked, “Was that really the city lord’s head?”
“You know the city lord’s face.” Han Wu smiled. “You tell me.”
Han Feng was speechless. The city lord’s estate was heavily fortified, with guards posted on every corner. The city lord himself was a Second-rate fighter whose Water Dragon Palm could hold off even a First-rate opponent for several bouts.
Yet, Han Wu had managed to kill him, and in such a short time at that. This was equivalent to plucking a general’s head from the midst of a thousand soldiers.
The feat only deepened Han Feng’s belief that Han Wu was far more dangerous than he appeared. He quietly swore to himself that he would never, under any circumstances, cross Han Wu. The city lord was the perfect cautionary tale.
After a brief talk with Han Feng, Han Wu returned to his room to sort through the collected manuals. The city lord’s collection was far superior to what Han Feng had provided.
Qin Shuang, He Xu, and Jia Gui each selected several manuals suited to their styles and began training. The rest went to Xun. Han Wu informed the shadow that this was his workload for the next ten days.
Xun stared at the small mountain of manuals piled in front of him with despair. Such misfortune!
With the manuals distributed, Han Wu started his own training. The Kun chapter of the Kunpeng Divine Art required practice to increase the rate at which one could absorb another’s energy. Fortunately, with Han Wu’s excellent comprehension, his cultivation speed was remarkable.
Soon, the day of departure arrived. Han Feng arranged for Han Wu’s group to board the ship bound for Jiang City. The man himself was on the ship as well.
Since the debacle with the city lord’s death, he had thanked Han Wu repeatedly. No one in Maple City could challenge Han Feng anymore. Even the new city lord had personally visited Han Feng the day before to ask for his protection. Han Feng had become Maple City’s shadow leader.
Han Feng was truly grateful to Han Wu for this. It didn’t even matter whether this merchant ship turned a profit on this trip. Keeping Han Wu happy took precedence above all.
Han Wu continued to train on the voyage. In just four days, he could already activate the Kunpeng Divine Art at close range. This was merely the entry level. If he fully mastered it, he could drain a person’s cultivation from a hundred meters away. He was still far from that.
One day, while everyone was training, the ship suddenly lurched.
A guard rushed to Han Feng and reported, “Sir! River bandits!”
“River bandits? Where?” Han Wu asked, poking his head out.
He was itching to test the Kunpeng Divine Art. A horn sounded, and several long, narrow boats appeared. Each carried over a dozen shirtless men armed with assorted weapons.
“There’s nothing I hate more than merchants! Hand over your money, or my blade goes in white and comes out red!” shouted a bandit.
The rest burst out laughing.[1]
Meanwhile, Han Wu could barely contain his excitement. This was a gift from the heavens! He wasn’t about to let willing prey escape. Leaping from the ship, he landed on the nearest boat.
“This kid’s got a death wish! Get him!” Several bandits drew their weapons and rushed him.
Han Wu sent Xun to deal with them while he grabbed the nearest bandit and activated the Kunpeng Divine Art. Internal energy and qi pulled toward Han Wu’s palm. The bandit felt as though his body had been hollowed out. Half a year’s worth of cultivated internal energy was drained to the last drop.
Han Wu tossed the emptied bandit overboard with a dissatisfied click of his tongue. “Is that all you’ve got? You call yourself a bandit with that little cultivation? Is the bar really that low?”
He moved on to the next bandit. Then the next. He cleared the first boat of over a dozen men in no time and obtained barely thirteen years’ worth of combined internal energy. It was nowhere near enough!
The Kunpeng Divine Art’s absorbed power was gone once exhausted. Thirteen years of internal energy wasn’t going to last Han Wu long.
He jumped to the second boat, then the third. It didn’t take long for the situation to dawn on the bandits. They tried to flee in panic, but Han Wu chased them down and drained every last one of them.
By the time he was done, a hundred years of accumulated internal energy sat inside him. This gathered energy allowed Han Wu to sense something new. This power could be used to activate the Demon King Transformation.
That was when it clicked. His special ability wasn’t Xun at all! It was the Demon King Transformation itself! His power had simply been too low for anything aside from Xun to appear. Xun was simply a small part of the Demon King Transformation.
This discovery only increased Han Wu’s determination. The Demon King Transformation was immensely powerful. A hundred years of internal energy only gave him enough to use the first form once. The second and third forms would require exponentially more energy.
Han Wu would have to push his Kunpeng Divine Art training harder than before if he wanted to unlock greater power.
