Chapter 872 - The Martial Arts Civilization
The three of them arrived at Imperial College’s transport point, where Qin Shuang was already waiting.
The moment she spotted Han Wu, Qin Shuang marched up to him. “I knew it! I knew you’d try to sneak off and rescue my family without telling me!”
Han Wu froze. Am I really that easy to read?
Even so, he explained himself. “This whole thing is aimed at me. They kidnapped your family because of me. Once I enter the Martial Arts Civilization, they should be released.”
Qin Shuang refused to listen. “I don’t care. If you’re going to the Martial Arts Civilization, I’m going too!”
Han Wu knew her temper well. Once she made up her mind, nothing could change it. If he refused, there was no telling what she would do on her own. For safety’s sake, he had no choice but to agree to bring her along.
The group passed through the array to the edge of the Divine Civilization, then boarded a ship and traveled to the Martial Arts Civilization’s border. The next step was to enter.
Considering that the Martial Arts Civilization could restrict their units, Han Wu summoned all his powerful units before entering so they could accompany him inside.
Unfortunately, he had underestimated the situation. Non-human life forms couldn’t enter the Martial Arts Civilization at all![1]
With no other option, Han Wu left his units waiting outside and led the four of them into the civilization.
The instant Han Wu set foot inside, he felt his body change. The Martial Arts Civilization’s Will imposed the most severe seal he had ever experienced, locking away his Talents, abilities, Divine Aspects, Divine Authorities, Divine Jurisdictions, Skills, energy, Microcosms, Divine Rings, Divine Weapons, and everything else.
Han Wu’s entire group went from being Gods to ordinary people with slightly above-average physiques. The change was almost unbearable.
Now he understood why the True Martial God King had gone to such lengths to get him there. The Will’s seal was ridiculously powerful. Even if Han Wu were a dragon, he would be reduced to a worm in this place.
Qin Shuang and the others felt the seal’s effects just as much. Without any of their powers, everything around them felt dangerous, as if a lethal attack could come from anywhere at any moment.
“Han Wu, maybe we should go back. It’s too dangerous here!” Qin Shuang said with difficulty. Though she was worried about her family, she was even more worried about Han Wu.
Han Wu shook his head. “We’re already here. I won’t be able to rest until your family is safe.”
Qin Shuang felt her eyes grow warm with emotion.
Then Jia Gui suddenly spoke up. “Does anyone else feel something off about their body?”
He Xu replied, “Isn’t it just that all our powers got sealed?”
Han Wu and Qin Shuang turned to look at Jia Gui as well, unsure what he meant.
Jia Gui pointed at his feet. “My feet feel incredibly light. So light that I think I could fly.”
He broke into a run. Surprisingly, he actually left the ground. He only managed to rise around eight meters into the air before crashing back down. Nonetheless, anyone could see that this wasn’t an ordinary human ability.
Following Jia Gui’s lead, the other three focused on searching for anything unusual about themselves.
Qin Shuang was the first to discover something. When she brought her hands close together, dense arcs of lightning erupted between her palms. She could discharge electricity, though it only lasted about five seconds and wasn’t particularly strong. At most, it could shock someone half to death like a taser.
After careful examination, He Xu found his own special ability. He could harden his hair into steel-like needles.
All three had found something unusual about themselves, yet Han Wu had spent a long time searching and found nothing.
Did he really have nothing special at all?
Just as Han Wu was feeling frustrated, Qin Shuang suddenly pointed at his shadow. “Han Wu, your special trait may be your shadow.”
Han Wu immediately looked down. He was standing perfectly still, yet his shadow was waving its arms and throwing punches. He also noticed that it had a long tail. It suddenly struck him that the shadow’s shape resembled the Demon Lord Xun, whom the Demon King Transformation had once absorbed.
“Are you Xun?” Han Wu asked.
His shadow nodded vigorously, confirming that it could communicate with him.
Han Wu continued, “What can you do right now?”
The next second, Xun’s tail rose out of the shadow and became solid. The materialized portion was short, only about half a meter, with a tip as sharp as an arrowhead. It would make a decent weapon for self-defense.
“Is that all?” Han Wu was somewhat dissatisfied. If all it could do was form a solid tail, a knife in his hand would be more useful.
Xun thought for three seconds, then made his move. The shadow stretched toward Han Wu’s feet. Before Han Wu could react, he was sinking into his own shadow as if standing in a swamp. Half of his body was swallowed, and no matter how hard he struggled, he couldn’t pull himself free.
Now Han Wu was satisfied. The ability to trap someone like that could definitely come in handy.
At the very least, the four of them now had some means of self-defense. The next task was finding Qin Shuang’s family. According to the ransom letter, they needed to travel to Jiang City.
For people without a map, this was an absurd challenge. They couldn’t even determine where they were, let alone locate Jiang City. Staying put wasn’t an option either. As such, Han Wu’s group chose a direction and started walking, hoping to find someone who could point them toward the city.
After wandering aimlessly for two hours, they still hadn’t found any roads, but they had discovered more about their anomalies. The more they used their unusual traits, the faster those traits developed.
Han Wu’s anomaly revealed the most information because Xun was intelligent. Using his tail to write characters, Xun first gave Han Wu’s anomaly a name: Shadow Xun, meaning Xun’s shadow. However, Xun didn’t explain that the name came from himself, fearing that Han Wu would destroy him once they left.
Shadow Xun had two properties. The first was Materialization, which allowed parts of the shadow to become solid and attack the surrounding area. The second was Shadow Space, which could form its own pocket dimension for hiding or trapping and killing enemies.
Xun also suggested keeping both properties in constant use. The tail could serve as a weapon to clear a path, while the Shadow Space could store wild fruits and vegetables they found along the way. This would help them build a reserve of food and avoid starvation. As long as they kept using it, Shadow Xun would grow even faster.
1. Wait, Han Wu and the rest aren’t humans, they are Gods.....wtf ☜
