Chapter 852 - Peerless Slashes
With nine Divine Weapons fused into it, Peerless had become a World weapon. The moment Han Wu drew it, the heavens and earth changed color. Endless dark clouds gathered overhead, lightning crackled, violent winds roared, and torrential rain poured down. At the same time, the ground trembled, cracks split open across the surface, and molten magma flowed through the fissures.
The War God King shot to his feet, and his gaze fixed on Peerless in Han Wu’s hand. He could tell that the weapon had surpassed the limits of a Divine Weapon and reached the World rank.
“To cause such a disturbance in the heavens and earth through a Divine Weapon’s power alone is truly extraordinary!” Zhong Heng exclaimed.
Pious also turned toward Han Wu, greed flashing in his eyes. A fine sword belonged to a worthy hero. Han Wu was no hero. A weapon of that caliber should belong to Pious.
Beside him, Evilspawn drew his own Divine Weapon, a vicious 9-Star God battle axe. He compared it to Peerless, then tossed it onto the ground.
“His is better. I’m taking that blade later!” Evilspawn declared.
Pious nearly cursed out loud. Do you have to be so blunt? You like it, so you want to take it? What kind of logic is that? Does he think the War Faction is some kind of bandit’s den?
As a fellow member of the Three Armies, Pious felt Evilspawn was seriously damaging their reputation.
Zhong Heng rubbed his temples as he looked at Evilspawn. He had watched him grow up step by step. When he looked back on Evilspawn’s history, one word described him perfectly: reckless. If he liked something, he would take it. If someone refused, he would take it by force. That was how Evilspawn operated. He had clawed his way to a seat among the Three Armies through sheer recklessness alone.
Zhong Heng had often thought that if Evilspawn possessed even a shred of common sense, his achievements would have rivaled the Butcher’s. He could have at least become a God King. Unfortunately, although Evilspawn had accumulated plenty of knowledge over the years and could identify a treasure at a glance, his emotional intelligence hadn’t improved in the slightest.
In comparison, my foster son is clearly the superior of the two. The thought made Zhong Heng look at Pious with noticeably greater warmth.
On the battlefield, the moment Han Wu revealed Peerless, Liu Jincheng sensed that something was wrong. Thirty years in the War Faction had given him power and sharp instincts. He immediately recognized Peerless for what it was and wondered whether his defense could withstand a single slash from that weapon.
Lacking absolute confidence, Liu Jincheng acted decisively and activated the treasure Zhong Heng had gifted him: the token containing the Power of the Mountain.
As Liu Jincheng poured Divine Points into it, the Power of the Mountain surged into his Rock Golems. The item shared an almost identical nature with his core race, making the absorption process exceptionally efficient. Nourished by the Power of the Mountain, the Rock Golems swelled like inflated balloons and grew 100 times their original size. Their defensive strength increased a thousandfold.
This power boost was only temporary, but it gave Liu Jincheng confidence. A thousandfold increase in defense was staggering, and he wanted to see how Han Wu would break through that.
Watching Liu Jincheng’s preparations, Han Wu smirked faintly. He had been worried that Liu Jincheng’s units would die too quickly for him to enjoy himself. Now that Liu Jincheng had voluntarily reinforced their defenses, Han Wu could finally unleash every technique Peerless had to offer.
Han Wu made his move. He channeled Divine Points into Peerless, and the slot embedded with the Small Locust Blade lit up.
“Stellar Rain Slash!”
A casual swing generated hundreds of millions of energy blades, forming a river of steel as they surged toward Liu Jincheng. The latter frantically summoned his Rock Golems to defend, forming 100 layers of solid defense in an instant.
The energy blades struck the barrier and shattered one after the other, unable to penetrate it.
Several spectators mocked Han Wu’s attack as flashy but ineffective. Those with sharper eyes, however, could see the true power behind it. Each energy blade was far from weak. The attack had only failed because it faced Rock Golems strengthened by a thousandfold defensive boost. Against any other vassal race with weaker defenses, the battlefield would have become a hellscape of massacre.
Han Wu didn’t let the failure faze him. His next attack was already building. The second slot on Peerless, which housed the Explosive Locust Blade, lit up.
“Infernal Burst Slash!”
Divine Points transformed into towering flames that congregated into a blazing Vermilion Bird that let out a piercing cry. In the next instant, the magma flowing through the cracks in the ground erupted to life. Riding the eruption, it spread its wings and dove toward Liu Jincheng.
A thunderous explosion shook the arena. The Vermilion Bird had self-destructed, releasing endless waves of heat and searing flames that washed over Liu Jincheng. Even behind 100 layers of Rock Golems, he could still feel the unbearable heat. Thirty of his defensive layers melted into magma, and three-tenths of his Rock Golems died instantly.
Han Wu didn’t stop. He wanted to see how many Peerless Slashes Liu Jincheng could withstand. The third technique was already forming, derived from the Locust Soul Orb.
“Soul Shatter Slash!”
Divine Points converted into Spiritual Energy, which then formed the Netherworld White Tiger, its frame stitched together in patches of black and white. The tiger opened its jaws, devoured the souls of the Rock Golems that had just perished, and expanded to 100 times its original size.
Han Wu didn’t order the Netherworld White Tiger to attack. Instead, he kept it crouched beside him.
Zhong Heng’s expression grew serious. As a veteran of more than 100 million wars, he recognized the technique’s brilliance at a glance. This move wasn’t particularly useful against ordinary opponents, but it was lethal against the troublesome spirit- or soul-type opponents. The more souls it consumed, the stronger it became. It was essentially a powerful ally that grew as the battle dragged on.
“Brilliant. Truly brilliant!” Zhong Heng couldn’t hold back his praise. Even though he desperately wanted Han Wu to lose, he still found himself admiring Han Wu’s skill.
Han Wu was already preparing the fourth Peerless Slash.
“Sky Eater Slash.”
The Gluttonswarm Ring in the fourth slot activated.
With a single slash, a colossal mouth descended from the sky and swallowed Liu Jincheng along with all his protective Rock Golems.
Liu Jincheng immediately ordered his units to counterattack with everything they had. It took thirty seconds for them to break free from the devouring maw, but every Rock Golem that emerged looked utterly drained, as if they had been forced to work without rest for three days straight.
Meanwhile, Han Wu’s energy was fully replenished by the feedback from Sky Eater Slash. He recovered everything he had spent on the four slashes and could continue fighting without drawing on the Divine Essence in his account.
