Chapter 504: Chapter 12 You Really Aren’t Human
The High Priest seemed to have the intention of sowing discord between the two, and both Lin Yun and Lin Yu sensed it.
The High Priest’s behavior was full of contradictions. She politely invited them to the Divine Temple, which made Lin Yun and Lin Yu feel that she was releasing goodwill, intending to win them over so that her subsequent plots could be based on this friendly foundation.
Yet, upon their arrival and after some conversation, she began to stir up trouble between them.
Could it be that she thought the relationship between Lin Yun and Lin Yu was so weak, or did she think too little of people from outside the Southern Border?
Or was it that she indeed came with goodwill at first, but Lin Yun’s series of disrespectful behaviors had angered her?
Lin Yu couldn’t make a judgment for the time being, but it was evident from the High Priest’s words that there were other ways to save Lin Yun. Not having time to ponder too much, Lin Yu hurriedly asked, "If not using the Oblivion Gu Worm, is there any other method?"
Lin Yu’s response was exactly the reaction the High Priest was hoping for—she had set him up perfectly.
"I’m not completely certain that this method can cure the poison of the Yin Yang Soul Chaser Spider. Moreover, with only six days left before the poison takes full effect, there might not be enough time. But this might be the only way other than using the Oblivion Gu Worm."
"I would like to hear the details."
Seeing that Lin Yu was clearly more concerned, the High Priest gestured, and a black vat appeared in her hand. Whatever she did to it, the vat’s black color began to fade visibly, turning transparent. Within the vat, one could see many different Gu Worms fighting each other.
Those with entomophobia or a fear of clusters were nearly dead on the spot.
The sight Lin Yun abhorred the most was of insects, especially swarms of them.
And when each of these bugs was uniquely hideous, Lin Yun found the sight even more unbearable.
He wanted to knock over the vat right then and there, yet he held back, rubbed his arms to ease the goosebumps, and hastily asked, "What is this?"
"This is my unique secret technique, the Thousand Gu Worm Vat. It gathers almost every type of Gu Worm from the Southern Border into one vat, where they fight each other until only one remains—the ultimate Gu Worm King."
The High Priest saw the pained look on Lin Yun’s face and a radiant smile appeared beneath her specially made gauze veil.
Well, it turns out you’re afraid of bugs!
"There are now less than a hundred Gu Worms left in here; ninety percent of them have died in the battles, consuming the others. The poison of the Yin Yang Soul Chaser Spider is in your blood, and so it naturally contains toxins. If your poisoned blood is dripped into the vat, it will surely kill some of the Gu Worms; however, those that survive will become immune to the poison of the Yin Yang Soul Chaser Spider."
The High Priest spoke with full confidence, "If the final Gu Worm King is implanted in you, the poison of the Yin Yang Soul Chaser Spider will collapse on its own. It’s just that the timing might be tight, and I can’t guarantee success."
Although that’s what she said, Lin Yun now had no choice but to grasp at straws, and what the High Priest proposed seemed quite sensible to Lin Yu as well.
It was just a matter of Lin Yun letting out a bit of his blood, and there seemed to be no conspiracies hidden within it.
"Lin Yun, what do you think?"
She still sought Lin Yun’s opinion. He didn’t respond immediately but stared intently at the High Priest. This penetrating gaze made the High Priest feel somewhat guilty, as if Lin Yun’s eyes could easily see through her defenses, leaving her as exposed as if she were naked.
This is an illusion!
The High Priest told herself it was just an illusion.
With Lin Yun’s cultivation level, it was impossible for him to see through her.
"The High Priest needs my blood, and that’s easy," Lin Yun said.
He casually picked up the Thunderclap Sword after thinking for a moment, and then he drew it across his arm, making a cut.
Bleeding was something he was a professional at; a cut on the finger was too small and painful, and the blood output was minimal. Other than for situations that required sucking on a fingertip, Lin Yun would normally cut an artery, which would draw much more blood.
Only Xiao Qing would get angry when treating him afterward since too much blood could lead to weakness, but there were no other problems.
The High Priest was startled by Lin Yun’s readiness to bleed.
She only wanted a little, but Lin Yun was prepared to draw a lethal amount...
The blood released didn’t splatter all around, but under Lin Yun’s control, it gathered together, suspended in the air, and formed a blood sphere about the size of an apple.
Letting out that much at once could only be described as very generous.
Xiao Qing quickly stopped the bleeding for Lin Yun, thus completing the bloodletting smoothly.
Lin Yun felt like an emotionless blood bank – when blood was needed, all he had to do was turn on the faucet.
As his pool of blood congealed, Lin Yun distinctly noticed the High Priest’s body shivering.
Well, well, what do we have here? You’re really not human!
The only beings that reacted specially to Lin Yun’s blood were of two types, demons and monsters.
Unexpectedly, Lin Yu also swallowed hard.
After swallowing, Lin Yu realized that she instinctively craved the ball of blood in Lin Yun’s hands.
She wanted to eat it.
Although she had previously consumed many of Lin Yun’s Spiritual Liquid and Vital Essence, none of those attracted her as much as Lin Yun’s blood did.
Lin Yun: "..."
Her swallowing made things awkward for Lin Yun.
"I’ll let you suck on it when we get back, however much you want."
Upon hearing Lin Yun’s telepathic message, Lin Yu’s face couldn’t help but flush with embarrassment.
She felt that she was somewhat disgracing herself as a wife.
"Is this enough?"
Lin Yun asked nonchalantly, pinching the blood sphere, as if he hadn’t noticed the High Priest’s reaction.
"Enough, enough, just give it to me," the High Priest said with evident urgency in her voice.
She even tried to snatch the blood sphere herself, but Lin Yun didn’t let her; instead, he lifted the lid off the vat with one hand, and with the other, poured all the blood into the vat.
"Don’t..."
The High Priest reached out in a denial gesture, but it was too late. Lin Yun’s actions were smooth and unobstructed, giving her no chance to stop him.
As soon as Lin Yun’s blood entered the vat, the Gu Worms inside became as active as if they had been injected with a stimulant, eagerly competing to feed on Lin Yun’s blood.
The High Priest’s heart shattered.
All that blood, and you’re feeding it to worms?
She decided then that Lin Yun must not be killed but kept and used as a blood cow, taking a few sips whenever she felt like it.
As for the fact that Lin Yun gave all his blood to the Gu Worms and not to her, she didn’t care at all.
The Gu Worms were hers, acknowledged her as their master, and when the time came to kill the worms and extract their blood, it would still end up in her hands.
"The blood has been placed properly, now we just have to wait for them to determine the final victor. Based on the current pace, they’ll probably need another three days."
The High Priest withdrew her hand, and the previously transparent vat turned black again.
"Why not stay in the Divine Temple for a few days? Once the Gu Worm King takes shape, I’ll come to detoxify you..."
