Chapter 190: Squad 69 Training Session (3)

Now that everyone finally agreed with Ruvian’s suggestion, Yerin immediately walked toward the control platform near the summoning array.

"We’ll make twenty five this time."

The glowing light under the white marble floor slowly began lighting up one after another as she started adjusting the settings. Twenty five was already the limit of the summoning machine for Lesser-Rank Voidspawns. Any more than that would already go beyond the recommended amount.

And if they pushed it too far, there was a very real chance the whole machine would simply break apart.

A faint humming noise soon echoed throughout the training hall.

Bzzzzzz—

The massive summoning array at the center suddenly lit up brightly. Then, one after another, dark blurry figures slowly started materialising across the arena.

In just a few seconds, the entire center of the training field was almost completely crowded with Ashfang Wolves now.

Low growls instantly echoed everywhere.

Grrrrrr...

Their crimson eyes glowed heavily inside the dim hall while sharp claws scraped against the stone floor nonstop.

The pressure this time was completely different from before.

Arlok’s grin became wider after seeing the overwhelming number of Voidspawns standing before them.

"Oho... now this looks fun."

Before all of them could even start charging forward, Yerin suddenly raised one hand slightly. "I also have something to add."

The others immediately looked toward her.

Yerin slowly swept her gaze across every single one of them before a blazing crimson flame suddenly exploded across her longsword. The surrounding air instantly became hotter as fire wildly wrapped around her blade.

Her eyes then narrowed.

"Whoever has the lowest kill count—"

A faint smirk slowly appeared on her face.

"—will stay behind and clean the entire training hall alone."

The moment those words fell, everyone’s expression immediately changed.

Then, without waiting another second, Yerin suddenly shot forward first like a blazing arrow released from a bow. Flames erupted beneath her feet while her figure rushed straight toward the massive pack of Ashfang Wolves gathered at the center of the arena.

The wolves immediately roared violently after sensing her approach.

GRAAAAAARRR!!

Dozens of crimson eyes instantly locked onto her all at once, creating an extremely terrifying sight as the entire pack suddenly began moving together like a dark tidal wave.

"Hey, that’s playing dirty! Where’s the damn countdown for fuck sake!??"

Soon, Arlok also charged forward like a rampaging beast.

The moment his massive body stepped down, the white marble platform beneath his feet cracked apart slightly from the sheer weight and force behind his movement.

He laughed loudly while swinging the gigantic poleaxe onto his shoulder before rushing directly toward the incoming wolves without even the slightest fear visible on his face.

Meanwhile, Shima clicked her tongue lightly.

"Tch. Loud idiot."

Bright lightning suddenly burst out around her falchion.

Bzzzt! Crackle! Crackle!

Purple arcs of electricity danced wildly around the blade while her body lowered slightly into a sprinting stance.

Then, in the very next moment...

Fwish!

Her figure instantly disappeared forward with explosive speed.

She moved so quickly that faint afterimages almost seemed to trail behind her while lightning flickered nonstop around her body as she rushed into the chaotic battlefield together with Yerin and Arlok.

Seeing all of them suddenly becoming so fired up and charging straight into the battlefield without hesitation, Ruvian could not help but lightly smile to himself.

The atmosphere had instantly become much more lively compared to before. However, just as he was about to move forward as well, his eyes suddenly shifted toward the side.

Horren was still standing there.

Although he already held his bow properly, there was still a faint hesitation visible on his face, almost like he still was not fully sure whether he should jump directly into the chaotic fight together with the others.

Ruvian immediately noticed it.

"If you don’t start moving now, you’re definitely going to end up as the last person," Ruvian said while slightly turning his head toward him.

Then he lightly gestured forward with his wand.

"Come on, Horren."

Horren blinked a few times before awkwardly scratching the side of his cheek. "Ah yes, yes... sorry. I was just kinda caught by surprise by them."

As he spoke, he quickly pulled an arrow out from the quiver behind his back before smoothly placing it against the bowstring. His posture also slowly became more focused afterward as he narrowed his eyes toward the battlefield ahead.

Ruvian lightly smiled after seeing that.

Then, he also slowly raised his wand. Almost instantly, three pale blue lights began appearing one after another around him.

[Magic Missile]

Now that his Pure Mana mastery had already reached the Advanced stage, his control over mana had become far more refined and stable compared to before, allowing him to execute and shape multiple Pure Mana spells simultaneously at a much quicker rate without wasting unnecessary mana.

The three [Magic Missile] immediately began condensing rapidly, as bright mana gathered together intensely before slowly transforming into sharp glowing projectiles floating around Ruvian.

The surrounding mana around him slightly trembled from the pressure alone.

Then...

Fwish! Fwish! Fwish!

The three Magic Missiles suddenly shot forward at extremely high speed like streaks of blue light cutting across the arena stage.

The wolves near the front had not even fully reacted yet before the spells already pierced through the chaotic arena and struck directly toward one Ashfang Wolf lingering near the backline.

Boom!

The first missile smashed directly into its shoulder.

Boom!

The second immediately exploded across its chest.

Then the third one...

BOOM!!

...It pierced straight through its head completely.

After witnessing the Ashfang Wolf getting completely blown apart almost instantly by Ruvian’s sudden barrage of three rapid [Magic Missile], all three people fighting at the frontline — Yerin, Arlok and Shima — unconsciously turned their heads slightly toward the back.

And the moment they saw Ruvian calmly standing there while still holding his wand casually in one hand — shock immediately coloured their faces.

One thing instantly appeared inside all of their minds at the exact same time: how did Ruvian, a scholar from Class E, suddenly unleash three rapid [Magic Missile] at the same time like that? (+300PP)

Not only that, but the casting itself was absurdly fast. There was almost no delay between the spells at all!

Even among Third-Class Magus scholars, being able to cast multiple spells simultaneously while maintaining that level of accuracy was already considered very difficult.

Yet Ruvian had just done it so casually like it was completely normal. He did not even look strained afterward, too!

The surrounding mana around him still remained incredibly stable. It almost looked like he still had more under his sleeve.

Arlok immediately smashed one wolf away with his poleaxe before quietly asking himself.

’Is that bastard... really someone from Class E?’

The wolf’s body exploded into particles of light after getting struck directly by the gigantic weapon.

Meanwhile, Shima swiftly ducked underneath another lunging wolf before slicing across its stomach with her lightning-covered falchion. Her eyes, however, still briefly glanced toward Ruvian from the side.

’...So he’s hiding way more than I thought.’ Shima silently thought.

Even Yerin looked visibly surprised.

Although she already knew Ruvian was not weak, this was still far beyond what she initially expected from him.

Meanwhile, Ruvian himself merely looked down at his wand quietly before lightly raising one eyebrow.

’...Ah, I guess using three at once was a bit excessive.’

Even he himself looked slightly surprised for a short while after seeing how easily the Ashfang Wolf had been completely destroyed.

His eyes slowly shifted toward his own hand.

’I didn’t realise my [Magic Missile] had already become this strong.’

For the first time in a while, Ruvian himself could clearly feel just how much his overall control and spell output of Pure Mana had improved compared to before.

*****

Almost eight whole minutes later, the chaotic training arena finally quieted down completely.

The last remaining Ashfang Wolf had already dispersed into countless bright particles of light while the entire training hall now looked completely messy from the intense fight earlier.

With that, their small warm-up session finally came to an end.

The final kill counts were quickly decided afterward.

Arlok stood proudly at the top with seven kills.

Yerin followed closely behind with six.

Shima had five.

Horren with three kills.

And lastly, Ruvian himself ended with only four kills despite his earlier shocking display of rapid casting.

Heavy breathing echoed lightly throughout the hall.

Then suddenly, out of nowhere....

"HAHAHAHAHA!!"

Arlok loudly burst into laughter while raising both of his arms proudly into the air like some victorious warrior.

"I WIN!"

His loud voice immediately echoed throughout the entire training hall.

Shima immediately clicked her tongue in annoyance before looking away from him with an extremely displeased expression.

"Tch."

Yerin lightly sighed while resting her sword against one shoulder.

"If you didn’t steal one of my kills earlier, I would’ve already tied with him, you know?" she said to Shima while lightly laughing afterward, clearly half joking.

However, before Arlok could even respond proudly, Shima suddenly pointed one finger directly toward him with an accusing look.

"This guy suddenly made an earth barrier right in front of me during the middle of the fight," she complained flatly.

"I think that should already count as a foul."

The moment Arlok heard that, he immediately looked utterly offended.

"Hey, shorty," he said while pointing his finger back toward her. "I already saw you coming from miles away trying to steal another one of my prey!"

Then he snorted loudly.

"Like hell I was gonna let you pull that off a second time."

Shima simply rolled her eyes afterward.

"Ah, whatever."

Horren quietly stood at the back while wiping the sweat from his forehead, still looking slightly exhausted after continuously firing arrows throughout the fight.

Compared to the others, he looked the most tired out of all of them. Ruvian, on the other hand, merely lightly smiled while watching the group exhibiting a much more relaxed and lively atmosphere.
