Chapter 179: Chapter 105: World’s End

After dealing with Sabeck, no one bothered Sean again.

Life on the cruise ship was great. He spent his days enjoying the ocean views, eating fine food, and playing a few hands of poker when he was bored. It was arguably the most relaxing and comfortable time Sean had experienced since becoming a Wizard.

The weather had been great for the past few days. The Jimmyria followed its planned route, and the seas were calm the entire way.

But Sean knew in his heart that the greater the tranquility, the more violent the coming storm would be.

He was prepared.

「The seventh day.」

The cruise ship docked at White Ice Port.

The Day of Abstinence was almost over. The Jimmyria would return to Alvess on the final day, giving everyone five days to tour the sights of the Southernmost Continent Region. The cruise ship had plenty of tour guides available, and passengers could choose between joining a group tour or exploring on their own. Naturally, Sean and his group chose the latter.

There were few towns here—only five in total.

Perhaps because of the remote location, the temperature here was extremely low, and the local residents’ pronunciation was baffling. Even though it was technically the same Imperial language, Sean couldn’t understand a single word...

"Kala Guer gilly-goo-la Balafutin, ah-yoo-oh-kay?"

Sean: "..."

’Not very okay.’

Inside the car rental agency, Sean was confronted by the owner’s fluent stream of local dialect, and he felt a massive headache coming on.

Fortunately, Kate could understand. She pointed to an SUV and said, "He says this model is fifty a day, non-negotiable."

Sean asked in surprise, "That cheap?"

Elvire: "?"

"I think all that money has gone to your head. You’re getting carried away."

A daily rate of fifty could get you an entry-level brand-name car in Siracle State, but here, it only got you a beat-up SUV. While not as outrageous as the prices for their train and cruise tickets, it was definitely not cheap.

Sean couldn’t be bothered with all that. All he knew was that he had many, many fifties now.

"I’ll take all the cars you have here." He waved his hand grandly and declared, "Yisha, pay the man."

"You got it!"

The young woman pulled over a small suitcase, placed it on the table, and opened it to reveal stacks of neatly arranged bills.

Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought it was some kind of arms deal.

The owner’s eyes lit up at the sight.

Moved to tears, he grabbed Sean’s hand and shook it vigorously. "Sank yoo! Sank yoo so much-ida!"

This time, Sean understood what he meant.

’The owner must be thanking me.’

Elvire, however, muttered under her breath, "What a waste."

’She felt they had absolutely no use for this many cars.’

The operational plan had already been decided back on the ship.

Sean, Elvire, Kate, and a few others, along with Adelf, would act as the "vanguard" to scout ahead.

After all, their group was too large. If they all went at once, they would attract too much attention, and things would get difficult if the enemy was alerted. So, just as they had done when boarding the ship, they would move in waves to keep a low profile.

The Night Watchers and the other Wizards would stay in the city to "sightsee" around the area. Once the vanguard confirmed the locations of the Kovri Ruins and the Florist Family, the main group would then rendezvous with them in Selona City.

But not everyone would be part of the rendezvous.

A portion of the Wizards would remain in the city as backup, appearing only when absolutely necessary. They would either lie in wait or strike with lightning speed. Tier Three Wizards and above could travel faster than cars when moving at full speed, so they didn’t need vehicles anyway.

"You don’t get it," Sean said. "We asked them to come here and help, so we can’t just let them wait around doing nothing. These cars are for them to use, to make their sightseeing more convenient."

"Because of the Witch Hunt Operation, Wizards rarely get to go out so openly, let alone travel far from home. Since they finally got this rare chance, they should be able to have as much fun as possible."

Elvire rolled her eyes at Sean and huffed, "It’s your money. Do whatever you want."

Sean: "Then let’s head out!"

The group didn’t delay any further. After renting the cars, they bought a map, got organized, and drove toward World’s End.

Kate was driving, as usual.

Her driving was very steady. The roads here were mostly mountain paths, their surfaces having nothing to do with the word "flat." Yet, the SUV Kate was driving didn’t feel overly bumpy to the passengers. The only puzzling thing was that these roads were a bit different from what they had imagined.

Or rather, they were different from the landscape in the "New World."

"Maybe it’s because we haven’t arrived yet, that we haven’t crossed that ’line’?" Elise said.

It was like the paradise hidden behind the Water Curtain Cave. You pass through a narrow entrance, and after a short walk, it suddenly opens up into a whole new world.

Only by truly entering it can you discover this "New World."

"That’s possible." Sean nodded. He checked the map and said, "Once we get over that mountain up ahead, we should be able to see some sort of outline."

There were also mountains near the Kovri Ruins in the "New World."

Most importantly, the time difference between here and Siracle State was very close to the one he’d experienced when he previously glitched into the Holy Temple Ruins.

Sean had called Charles to confirm as soon as he got off the ship. It was nighttime in Siracle State, but daytime where they were.

The car sped along the mountain road.

With Kate’s skilled driving, the group quickly crossed the mountains, arriving on the other side of the peak Sean had pointed to in less than an hour.

And then they saw more mountains.

Sean: "..."

Everyone: "..."

"Mr. Writer, are you sure we’re not lost?" Elise asked.

Kate stopped the car, unbuckled her seatbelt, and said, "You guys chat. I’m going to go top off the car’s magic."

The rugged mountain roads really guzzled fuel, and this car was a piece of junk. They hadn’t even gone a few hundred kilometers and the tank was already running on empty, just like an electric car.
