Chapter 19 - The Summit Banquet (2)

The Summit Banquet, held at the start of the academic year's second week, welcomed the students, both old and new.

It was a very eventful event starting at 7 PM and ending at 3 AM. Of course, various gimmicks encompassed this long night for the students... and perhaps professors.

With the venue being the Red Moon Hotel, where the depravity of human nature could be legally displayed in accordance with the corresponding setting, I observed the surroundings, trying to gauge whatever was running through the minds of these young students.

The ordinary students, in the sense of status,, were the first to arrive in the vast menu filled with round tables. On the one side of this luxurious grand hotel, a row of delectable delicacies was neatly arranged.

Then to the front, my amethyst eyes landed on a smooth miniature platform for tonight's masters-of-ceremony.

These were things I was not familiar with. They were new to me as someone who drowned himself in the Celestial Stream in Antarctica while fighting unimaginable beings that could threaten the world.

This was a place that was exuding nobility, similar to the past banquets held by kings and queens. The difference was that this event included individuals like me who were considered trash in this modern society.

A laughing stock, perhaps?

Or maybe a leech for the noble blood?

But I did not care what would others think as I patiently waited for the arrival of the heirs... the main character-like individuals that would be the focus of this superficially peaceful long night.

With the certainty that something undesirable would go down throughout the night, the only thing I assured Alina was her safety. I also asked about our connection... but she told me that she would take care of it.

Not that I would mind whatever the outcome be.

That being said, if there's someone I am concerned of... it's the girl that was plunging me with numerous texts about her stalker.

'What a bother.' I thought as I waited for the time to pass.

Some time passed, and the legitimate heirs of the Summit Banquet eventually arrived, donning their respective outfits that caused the bystanders to have their mouths agape.

They were either handsome or beautiful, to say the least. However, their bearing was something that amplified their identity.

After all, in this world of connections, confidence in oneself was the best someone could offer.

Yuridika Akareon, with glimmering azure eyes, as though chiseled from the frozen tundra, walked through the aisle while donning a black high-slit dress and high heels. She was battle-ready, Aeon thought.

Yura Alperion, one with purple eyes similar to Aeon, also arrived as her platinum hair cascaded along the chilly night. But she was not wearing something considered too formal, rather, a white blouse and black miniskirt covered her body.

To say the least, her appearance seemed to pierce through the lustful hearts of men; almost everybody was awestruck as their gaze gradually fixated on her exposed fair-colored and smooth legs.

Yuri Belserion, on the other hand, was wearing the same attire. After all, though it was not a dress code, she and Yura were the MCs for tonight's delightful event.

Moreover, the others also arrived... Han Anastasia, the young boy heir of the Gemini Universal Medicine; then Selene Pandora of Underground World... and lastly, Alina Noxan Eurasia of Eurasia Grand Agency.

Their entrances garnered explosive reactions from thousands of students in this vast menu, which included a second floor above and another from below – it was three-layered floors that were possible with intricate architecture and engineering of the skilled personnel belonging to Seven World Corporations.

"Holy mother... I could die right now if one of them kisses me."

"You son of a bitch... Well, I understand what you're saying."

"One wink and I won't get drunk tonight!"

The desires of men leaked out of their mouths; murmurs of lust and praises mixed together.

There was a table of seven reserved for the legitimate heirs... or the only royalties of the Summit Academy.

Alina, donning a starlit gown as if a cold galaxy was miniaturized for her, found her seat.

She was the second-to-last to arrive, which prompted her to cautiously ask the others with similar status,

"Where's Miss Asahina?"

The Yu Heirs and the others were not surprised by the way she addressed the heir of the Orion World.

"She would be late."

Alina asked with her gaze the source of the voice, Yura. The latter shrugged.

It was then that the students shouted with cheers of admiration at the elegant presence that just arrived.

It was the world idol, Airi Winter.

However, since they couldn't be more hypocritical with each other, Alina and the others refrained from discussing a thing or two about Airi, even a mere compliment.

They had their minds occupied other than a student's otherworldly beauty.

Alina gazed at where Aeon was...

Among these students, her eyes were looking for him.

Meanwhile, Yuridika's eyes were conspicuously staring at her.

She knew who she was looking for.

Their thoughts were different though.

Recently, Alina was occupied with what her father left... it's something about Aeon... on how to deal or interact with him.

It was like a manual... a guide to control someone or something.

It was also the moment, just yesterday, when she received the report personally delivered by Aeon during his brief meeting with Yuridika, that Alina noticed his unusually quiet demeanor.

As someone granted the authority over him, Alina suspected something that her father warned her about through his journal...

It was different from the will he left behind.

[ He is human too. ]

What was the intent of her father with this message?

She could only guess.

A human was inherently stubborn.

It could only mean one thing – Aeon could decide on his own for the sake of his covenant.

'What is he planning right now...?' Alina wondered.

After some time, standing on the decorated platform, the ignition of the Summit Banquet began.

I looked at the clapping students, and as I confirmed Alina's safety amidst this deafening noise, I muttered,

"Should the hunting begin?"
