Jason Cross adjusted his tie as he left the glass-panelled building. He had been getting assaulted by the smell of coffee and things like that the whole time, and now that he was back in the streets, getting assaulted by the smell of the rising sun that was going to be beating down on the street. He couldn’t help but smile.

That meeting had gone well for him. If he got the job that was going to be the beginning of a new chapter in his life. This was an exciting time in his life. Smiling, Jason ordered a taxi, and as he got inside, smelling the stink of a cigarette, he chuckled. Just how long would it take him to get a car?

Probably not that long. Jason thought a bit more and decided to set a goal for himself. 1 month. In One Month he would get a car, and start driving. He already had a licence. All he needed was the car.

After seeing everything around him, Jason decided to tell the driver to head to his new "home" and when he got there, he realised that Veronica was back. If she was around, Jason could spend some time with her. Finally.

Looking at the System Panel again, only to see that he still had a lot of effort to make before he made some real progress in the mission, Jason inwardly sighed.

There was an art to selling yourself that most people did not understand. Jason understood it now too. All you needed to do was control the impression people had of you. If you controlled that, you controlled everything else. After all, people were extremely predictable.

Anyway, now that Veronica was back, Jason was going to have to sell himself to her a bit more. He was going to be getting something from her.

Walking in and then hearing Veronica talking on the phone, Jason understood that he was busy. And the interesting thing was that there was someone in the kitchen. It was the personal chef. Considering the time, which was approaching midday, Jason couldn’t help but think about how interesting things were getting now.

Jason walked over to Veronica, who turned to him with a smile, waving at him, and asking, "So? How did it go? Well, I hope?"

Jason nodded, saying, "I did extremely well. I have never really done something like that before, but I think I aced it. I was just authentic and cool."

Veronica gazed at Jason, putting away her phone, "Tell me all about it! Wait, I have an even better Idea! Why don’t we act it out? You go back there and then walk in, and I will act the part of Samantha."

Jason looked at Veronica, who seemed to have a smile on her face even though she was not looking so extremely energetic, and he smiled. He realised it was probably to help him. Either that or it was just interesting to her.

"Okay fine. Let’s do it. I’ll put my faith in you once again, Veronica," Jason said with a smirk.

"That’s the spirit! I want you to sell yourself to me, Jason!" Veronica said, raising her fists in the air in encouragement.

"You want to buy me that badly, huh?" Jason said with a smirk, making her roll her eyes. Chuckling in interest, Jason continued speaking. "This would have been so much more useful if I was going to the interview after this."

"I know, but still. Samantha takes on two interviews. It means that you need to get past the first stage of getting to know each other, and then move on to the next stage where there is even more competition between you and the other people going for the position. You need to keep yourself sharp." After saying this Veronica leaned back, folding her arms on her chest as she looked at Jason in subdued interest.

It seemed she knew her for sure. But the Folding of the arms across the chest was something different now. And it was obvious to Jason after all, with Samantha, it was less... bombastic. Seeing her like that, with her legs crossed, arms crossed, and a smirk on her face, he felt the need to tease her.

He smiled. "She didn’t have a smirk on her face. It was more like a scowl. She looked like she wanted to kill me."

"What? Oh no, Samantha! How dare she, I will have to have a serious conversation with that woman to make sure that nothing like that happens," Veronica said, in an angry fashion, taking her phone out as she prepared to call her.

Jason laughed when she said that so angrily. "Relax, I’m kidding. Let’s start."

Veronica gazed at Jason, narrowing her eyes at him, making him chuckle even more and then she sighed as she sat down, now scowling in anger for real. Jason was not going to make the mistake of correcting her this time. "Okay."

Jason walked over to her, his expression light, his head up, his chest out. He was radiating confidence and he had managed to make it to her without even faltering once in his steps. As she saw him walk towards her, her expression softened slightly.

"Ms Veronica. Thank you for this opportunity?" Jason said, his voice steady as he reached forward for a handshake.

"Minus two points for calling me by the wrong name. Anyway, let’s continue." Veronica said in a businesslike manner. "You’re Jason. And you’re here to apply for a position as a Sales person, correct?" she said looking down at her hands as if she was looking at some paperwork.

Jason nodded, trying his best to keep his expression serious. She had not told him he could sit down, and this meant that he was to stay standing. "Yes, ma’am."

"And what experience do you have in Sales?" said Veronica, looking at Jason with a hard gaze that would have made anyone fold.

Jason, who stood there while being looked at like that, could see her cleavage and even her thighs and it was a thoroughly stimulating image. He tried to keep his mind off it by clearing his throat.

Lock In, Jason. Prize before Thighs!

Jason did not hesitate to speak his truth. "None professionally, but I’ve sold plenty in my time. After all, I have been selling myself to others all my life. Building relationships is what I excel at the most."

Her eyebrow arched. "Oh? And what exactly do you know about Sales?" she said tilting her head slightly in interest. Veronica was taking this very seriously, and Jason could even tell how she was doing all this in a way that mirrored her to the other one.

Jason leaned forward, his voice dropping slightly. "The concept of Sales is simple, Ms. Ellis. It’s about finding the pain points and showing the customer how you can solve them. The more painful the problem, the more the customer would be willing to solve it. That is how businesses bring value to customers, and how they make money."

Her lips twitched into a smile. "That’s... quite simplified." Veronica had slipped up here, and Jason smiled, looking at her as she tried to regain her composure. At that moment, they were sharing a joke that neither of them spoke about.

Jason grinned. "It’s just the truth. I mean, aren’t I selling myself to you right now? And I’d say I’m already doing a pretty good job."

’Samantha’ chuckled, folding her arms. "Confident, aren’t you? Tell me, what sets you apart? Why do you think you are selling yourself right now? After all, you have only just stepped into my room."

I wish I stepped into your room.

"Well, don’t I have you smiling at me right now?" Jason leaned back, his gaze unwavering. "Because I’m not just charming and well-mannered. I have ambition, Ms. Ellis. I’m not here to coast—I’m here to climb."

Her smile faltered briefly, replaced by a flicker of intrigue. Was this Veronica or Samantha, Jason wondered. "Ambition, huh? Convince me of something, Jason. Anything. Let’s see how good you are."

Jason straightened his posture, looking at her in interest. "Anything?"

"Anything," she replied with a glint in her eye. "I’ll give you an idea. Convince me that one plus one equals three."

Jason laughed, not missing a beat. "It equals four."

’Samantha’ blinked, caught off guard. "Four? That’s ridiculous."

Jason’s expression turned serious. "Not if you think about it. One person’s idea, plus another’s effort, doesn’t just equal two—it creates synergy. It equals more than the sum of its parts. Call it teamwork, innovation, or whatever you like. One plus one equals something greater. It equals growth. If two people come together, they could multiply their efforts, creating something that equals the multiple of what they have to offer. That is 2 times 2, which is 4."

For a moment, the room was silent. Then ’Samantha’ stood, her heels clicking against the polished floor as she circled the "desk", which was the coffee table, to stand before him. She studied him like an artist scrutinizing a canvas, her gaze sharp yet unreadable.

"Well, Jason, your logic is... unconventional. But I’ll give you this: you’re convincing. You’re hired."
