Chapter 20: Lorino is dead
Li Yu was already anticipating Yu Wen wrapping his strong arms around her and begging her for help. She could already picture herself straddling him as he filled her up completely, just like in the sexually explicit movies she had watched in the past.
She bit her lower lip, feeling the heat stir up within her. She was nervous, excited and turned on at the same time. As a result, she was much quieter than usual. She wanted to tell him the truth. She wanted to confess her feelings, so she said, "Wen-ge, I-"
Before she could finish, Yu Wen’s phone rang. When he saw it was Takumi calling him, he turned to Li Yu and said, "Sorry, I have to take this."
Li Yu didn’t mind at all. In fact, she would rather he take his time, so she could come up with the courage to tell him how she felt about him. Yu Wen picked up and Takumi’s panicked voice came through the call. His expression turned visibly gloomier the more he listened.
"Do you have any idea how that happened?" he asked, grabbing his coat when Li Yu, who had been distracted, saw him clearly intending to leave. She grabbed his arm to stop him in a panic.
"Where are you going? I thought you would hang out with me a little longer," she said with a tremor in her voice. Why would she let him walk out that door and make wedding clothes for others? She just had to delay him and soon he wouldn’t be able to go.
"Minister Lorino was found dead in his cell. I have to go," he said, determined to leave and investigate before anyone could cover up the crime.
Her voice panicked, she asked, "But why does it have to be you? Can’t someone else-," before he raised his hand, cutting her off.
He said on the phone, "Who? It does make sense. He must have something to do with it." The person he was referring to was Li Jun. And what did this have to do with him?
It was because before Lorino was exposed of having Chronos in his possession, it was Li Jun who was raided first. Then there was an employee who used to work for Club Nova who had gone missing. Anyone with a brain could tell these things were connected.
"I am worried that he might destroy evidence, so don’t come here. You deal with him and I will deal with this crime scene," said Takumi as he drove to the maximum prison at the fastest speed possible.
Yu Wen replied, "Sure, keep me updated." He hung up and turned to Li Yu, saying, "I have to go. Thanks for dinner." He gulped down the rest of the drink and put on his coat. No matter how she begged and threw a tantrum, he didn’t listen to her. He walked out of the room in large strides. Li Yu ran after him but she found she couldn’t catch up. In a state of panic, she gripped her hair in frustration.
The only person she knew who could help her, or at least have a solution, was her mother, but she was afraid to tell her that she had wasted all her efforts. She could only hope that the aphrodisiac was fake or less potent.
Yu Wen had no idea that a storm was about to erupt. He got in the black hover car and drove off at high speed. Halfway there, he could feel a burning sensation in his chest, but he ignored it, thinking that maybe his body wasn’t agreeing with the food he ate.

On the other side of the imperial city, Club Nova was having an invite-only pool party night with Li Jun as the main attraction. Yu Xuan had been responsible for the invites. Following Li Jun’s instructions, he had invited a lot of famous influencers and rich young masters.
With such a gathering, it was inevitable that it would be trending on Starnet. Some were live-streaming the party and millions of people were tuned in. Others were playing in the pool, giggling and laughing. And some were drinking and grinding against each other.
Women walked around in their bikinis with half their asses out and men walked around shirtless with tight shorts showing off their dick imprints, turning heads. The DJ matched the crowd’s energy playing endless bangars.
And where was the main character of the event? He was sitting on the terrace overlooking the infinity pool in his swimming trunks. He was playing chess with Yu Xuan while taunting each other. Yu Xuan looked like he was sweating bullets, already anticipating the beating. After making his move, he said, "This time you are going to lose."
Li Jun smirked as he said, "Really now? Don’t cry later when you lose," as his slender fingers reached for a piece, his ring catching the light. Just then, a girl dressed in a see-through chiffon dress walked over, holding a glass and sat on Li Jun’s lap. Li Jun didn’t stop here. In fact, he put his hand on his waist and said, "My lucky charm is here."
She chuckled, leaning her head back, exposing her long, crane-like neck. "Your majesty, you flatter me," she said, her voice sickeningly sweet. She handed him the glass and he took it, their fingers brushing against each other.
Her face flushed and she bit her lower lip slightly. Li Jun didn’t even look at her as he took a sip of the cocktail. Just as Yu Xuan made his move, there was a slight commotion coming from the pool.
The elevator door had slid open and one of the security guards working for Li Jun was thrown out, unconscious. Yan Jia called him, so he picked up the call, asking, "Who?"
Yan Jia’s voice came through, saying, "It’s the general. I am bringing backup."
Li Jun sneered and said, "Why bother ruining everyone’s fun?" He hung up and tossed the phone on the table, ruining the pieces on the board. Yu Xuan knew something was up and he was about to ask when Yu Wen walked up the stairs, the air instantly turning chilly. Yu Xuan was enraged when he saw him. Li Jun, on the other hand, looked relaxed, as if Yu Wen wasn’t even here.
