Chapter 18: Come to mother
The commander decided to take a leap and trust whoever this was. While gearing up with his team, he called Yu Wen but Yu Wen’s phone was off. Takumi locked his phone and turned to his team, saying, "Everybody listen up...." He assigned teams and in no time, the armored trucks drove out of the bureau headquarters heading in different directions.
If there was this much product in their possession, Takumi knew that it wasn’t going to be a smooth raid. They would be met with resistance. As it turns out, he was right. That night, the imperial capital was not peaceful.
There was rapid gunfire and pursuits. In the end, the Minister hadn’t been prepared for this kind of operation. No one had given him a heads up thus he wasn’t prepared for this kind of firepower. He was arrested and all of his product was discovered.
In a matter of hours, Li Jun wasn’t the most hated person in the world, however short it was. The news flooded Starnet with videos of the Minister being dragged out of the house with a pair of tighty whities on, his hands cuffed.
Behind him was a woman who obviously wasn’t his wife, dressed in a robe but peeking underneath was her lace lingerie. They were put at the back of the police truck and the entire time Minister Lorino was yelling, "Do you know who the fuck I am?! Get this shit off me."
With a bang, the door was slammed shut, drowning the noise. Commander Takumi ignored the reporters as he instructed the bricks of Chronos be taken out of the villa. The netizens were in an uproar, cursing Lorino to death.
When the news reached Xiu Ying, she was having a full-body massage. She lay on her stomach, her eyes closed, seeming relaxed. Just then, the man in the black hooded cloak knelt at the door and said, "Greetings, your Majesty."
Xiu Ying didn’t immediately respond. She gestured for the woman to leave and sat up, pulling her silk robe on. While pulling her jet-black hair into a ponytail, she said, "Someone better be dying." The man trembled in fear. He knew this time he wouldn’t escape unscathed.
She stepped on the ground with her bare feet and walked towards him. Each step she took caused a tremor in his heart. He clenched his clothes and said, "It’s the minister. They raided his properties and found chro-." Before he could even finish speaking, a bottle of massage oil was slammed on his face and the silky liquid dripped down, soaking his clothes.
"Useless piece of shit!" she roared. What others didn’t know was that Chronos was never Helion’s creation. It was a formula the system had given to her. She had used it to eliminate those who had hindered her power and replace them with the people who would support her ascent. It was made in Helion but it was imported by Lorino. On the other hand, Lorino had no idea that the person who supplied him with the product wasn’t the boss behind it all.
This was a massive loss for her. A huge fucking loss. Filled with rage, she trashed the room, overturning the massage bed and sweeping the oils, towels and candles off the table. It all came crashing down with a clatter and the attendants waiting outside quailed in fear.
Her chest rising and falling, she yelled, "Get the fuck out!!!" The man scurried to his feet and slipped on the slippery oil. He was able to steady himself and rush out, closing the door behind him.
Xiu Ying closed her eyes and began to call out the system in her mind. "System, you come out for me," she said rudely.
The system came online and said, "I don’t appreciate that tone. I have told you before."
She gritted her teeth and said, "Lorino was caught with Chronos."
The system didn’t respond immediately. After some time, it said, "It won’t lead back to you but just in case, you should silence him."
Xiu Ying didn’t have a problem cutting off loose ends. Even if the system didn’t tell her to, she would have killed him regardless. "What happens now?"
After a while of silence, the system said, "At this point, you won’t be able to get access to Blue Sapphire. So, hold off on that. What you need to do now is to get Red Valkyrie under your command. With their full loyalty, you will have a powerful backer that can stand against Blue Sapphire."
Hearing this, her lips twitched. Yu Wen was a loose cannon that she would have been wary of if it weren’t for his hatred of Li Jun and the debt of gratitude he had towards Li Yu. Li Yu had been trying to court him for a long time but after so many years, nothing had happened between them. It seemed she needed to push the boat along the river, otherwise her stupid daughter would never win him over.
"I understand," she said and as though the system knew what she was thinking, dropped a vial in front of her. She picked it up and studied the contents.
The system said, "It’s a potent aphrodisiac. She just needs to put a drop in his drink and he will be wrapped around her finger. He won’t remember being drugged. All he will remember is wanting her in the moment. Naturally, he will take responsibility but to make sure the plan succeeds, you should have his mother catch them in bed."
Who didn’t know how filial Yu Wen was? This was why, even though he didn’t want to be in a relationship, he was willing to compromise and marry a wife just to please his mother.
Xiu Ying turned the vial while saying, "I will speak to her. She will do as I say." She didn’t waste any time. Two days later, she summoned her daughter for a chat. Li Yu had never heard her mother be that serious. She had a bad feeling in her heart.
At her age, she should be going on blind dates like her friends, but she didn’t want to marry anyone except Yu Wen. Thus, she prepared to stand up to her mother for the first time in her life. She walked into the room and found her mother sitting in the high seat with people serving her.
Li Yu stopped closer to the door and bowed, greeting her mother, but Xiu Ying said, "No need for that. Come here." When she saw her daughter hesitate, she said in a softer tone, "Come to mother."
