Chapter 185: Fight (2)
In the meantime, Ember noticed her base members becoming agitated. She knew it was because of the L-7; she tried to use her pheromone control. Unlike Valentina, who had to throw powder, she had the innate ability to control her pheromones. If she could make them feel disgusted, it might help.
Ember quickly spread her pheromones. She noticed that it had some effect, but there were still some who were tearing at their clothes. She wanted to check the mall to see if there was anything else she could find, but before she could. Valentina launched herself at her.
Yes, the fight was not over. While her people were down for the count because of Valentina’s powder, Valentina rushed towards Ember. Aiden was still going strong along with a few others. They fought Valentina’s men, holding down the fort.
It was clear that Ember’s people had a wealth of combat experience compared to Valentina’s. But that didn’t stop them from fighting harder. They came with the clear goal of taking everything the base had to offer. They would not be willing to leave so easily.
Valentina sneered as she faced Ember, "When I kill you, I’ll make sure to keep your skin as a souvenir."
"I’m flattered you think my skin is so nice. But, I wouldn’t want to keep yours," Ember retorted.
Valentina’s face turned ugly. She no longer thought of keeping Ember’s skin. She wanted to feed her to the zombies instead. Seeing her become a bag of bones is now the only way to soothe her anger.
Punches and kicks flew. It was clear Valentina was stronger, but she wasn’t stronger than Ember. The reason Ember kept fighting and didn’t kill her was that she was waiting for the CE.
She wanted the CE to find a way to disconnect the DLS from Valentina. It was something they had spoken about but never thought they would need to use so soon. They weren’t prepared, but since it happened, they would have to go with the flow.
Ember asked the CE if it was ready. Before she could get an answer, both she and Valentina fell, their bodies limp.
Ember struggled against the feeling. Her eyes moved around to see others still fighting. Some were actually fucking on the battlefield. Ember, though unable to move, was still emitting pheromones.
Valentina, beside her, was in the same state. She couldn’t move but could hear everything happening.
What no one in the base was able to see was the entanglement of two blue and red lights. The red light was menacing while the blue was calming. They swirled, clashes and curled around each other.
At times, the blue light had the upper hand; other times, the red appeared to have the upper hand. One thing was certain: the fight between the two streams of light was fierce.
Finally, the blue light was able to push the red light back. Both the blue and red lights sank into Valentina’s body. Not long after, Valentina’s body began to convulse. A few minutes later, the blue light flew out of her body and back into Ember’s.
Ember sat up, feeling a renewed strength in her body. Lying there helpless, she never wanted to feel such a thing again. She realized when the CE returned to her, there were a few changes. Nothing particularly noticeable, more like stylistic changes.
If there were any other changes, she would find out after they had taken care of the mess in the base.
Valentina lay on the ground, eyes closed. She was breathing out more than in. She wasn’t thrashing anymore. If not for the blood seeping from her nose and the corner of her lip, one could assume she was sleeping.
By this time, those who came with Valentina were subdued. Some people, still affected by the L-7, were having sex in various corners. Aiden came up to Ember, confirming she was safe.
He looked down at Valentina.
"What happened earlier? I saw you, but I couldn’t get away from those bastards," Aiden spat.
"It’s nothing. I’ll tell you about it after we get everything cleaned up," Ember sighed.
Aiden nodded; they left the clean-up to those who hadn’t yet contributed to the base.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the vast universe, a myriad of colours both known and unknown to mankind, floated together in a large chamber. Their attention was currently on the fight between Valentina and Ember’s people.
Seeing the outcome of the fight, one person spoke.
"Sector G253, rising power confirmed."
The hologram disappeared and was replaced with another. The scene here was more dire than anything Ember and Aiden had seen.
Mutated plants, larger than houses, were running amok. Mutated animals jumped from 12-story buildings onto humans. Unlike in G253, where the animals were scarce, this place was flooded with animals.
The people here have already gone through the strengthening. Now, they were at a phase of using their powers. Elemental powers flew through the air.
If Ember were to see this now, she would be shocked. She could never have expected that she could evolve into such a powerful person.
Yes, the person fighting the mutated beast now was another Ember. She was still voluptuous with Aiden fighting by her side, but this Ember was more battle-hardened than the other.
"Sector S019, subject still refusing to use given power."
In this life, Ember also has a system, but unlike the previous Ember, this one is well aware of the consequences of using the system.
What made the Ember of G253 lucky was that the CE was able to swallow the Lust system; had it not been for that, she might be the next pawn.
She was one of the few Embers that was lucky enough to escape the plot. As for why these glowing balls needed to use Ember in different parallel worlds, they were the only ones who could answer that question.
But they watched and waited for the day that one of the Embers would give them the result they wanted.
