Chapter 55: He’s Definitely Having An Affair.
Minutes later, Lynsandra found herself standing in a sterile hallway where she could see professionals working around an unconscious patient. Virgo stood to her left, while August—dressed in a lab coat that suited his toned build—stood to her right.
It’s not the same as the one in the torture chamber, she thought, referring to the condition of the two abnormals she had seen so far.
"He’s still unconscious because of the sedatives we administered. Only a combination of several sedatives worked on him," August continued his explanation. "Even so, he’s still alive after being beaten by Elias Hale’s beta wolves all night. He also took a beating from Elias Hale himself—and yet, he’s still alive."
"You’re forgetting the beating he got from me," she murmured, watching the procedure through the transparent glass wall. "And yet, he’s still breathing. Hah, intriguing, indeed."
It wasn’t that she was surprised. The Alpha King had already mentioned their unbelievable resilience. They could find ways to kill them, of course—it was just that they needed them alive to study. This, after all, seemed like the start of an outbreak.
August studied Lynsandra from the corner of his eye. "I assumed you weren’t aware of it yet. My apologies for making that assumption."
Virgo glanced at August, noting the distance he maintained from Lynsandra, then shifted his attention back to her.
I can already imagine what would happen if she married him, and the mountain of work they’d give me, he thought, quickly trying to rid himself of the unwelcome idea. This is their first date, and neither of them even knows it... or maybe she’s already treating it as one.
"There’s no need to apologize," Lynsandra replied, finally pulling her gaze away from the glass. "I learned about this just before you called. From the Alpha King."
Surprise flickered briefly in August’s eyes before he composed himself. He knew this was inevitable. If the information had reached him, it was only a matter of time before it reached the most powerful Alpha in Lunareth.
"How long have you known about this?" she asked.
"Only recently. On the night of the full moon, to be precise," August answered immediately. He then explained what had happened that night.
What he didn’t realize was that he wasn’t just revealing his discovery about the fake wolf. He was also answering the lingering question in Lynsandra’s mind.
So it really wasn’t him, huh? she thought, even though she had already known it wasn’t. What a shame.
She didn’t dwell on it, though. Turning back to the glass, her brow lifted slightly before she glanced at him again.
"How did Elias Hale know you’d gone back?" she asked. "Didn’t he say he was flying or something else that night?"
August thought about it for a moment, then shrugged. "No idea."
"..." She pressed her lips into a thin line and tilted her head slightly.
"Why, Luna?" he asked.
"Nothing." She smiled faintly before changing the subject. "Walk me through your discoveries so far..."
As Lynsandra and August walked away, discussing the matter as if it were just another business agenda, Virgo remained behind, watching them.
Is she still trying to find the person who left the edelweiss?
Virgo tilted his head, then shook it lightly. He didn’t want to dwell on it anymore. Lynsandra had already told him not to concern himself with that—that she had her own way of finding answers.

Meanwhile, back at the harem, Minnie was lazily idling in Lynsandra’s tea room near the window when she spotted someone outside. Peeking up from the divan she had been rolling around on, she narrowed her eyes and caught sight of a familiar face.
"Isn’t that...?" she trailed off, following Cassian as he spoke on the phone, his expression visibly irritated. "Huh?"
Minnie cocked her head to the side. "Isn’t that the same guy she almost wrestled with years ago? The one at Victor’s engagement party?"
"Hmm..." she hummed, her eyes tracking Cassian’s movements. She rubbed her chin, gears turning in her head. "Lizzie wasn’t in her right mind that night, so she probably doesn’t remember."
But Minnie was very good with faces, and she remembered many things about Lynsandra because... the Luna was the one who signed her checks.
"Hah!" She tilted her head and hopped off the couch, strutting away. Swinging the feather duster in her hand, she headed straight for where Cassian stood.
And sure enough, even with her unhurried pace, Cassian was still on the phone.
Minnie stopped near the exit, watching him and listening in.
"I told you a hundred times already!" Cassian snapped. "Why are you being so annoying? Even on the last full moon, I told you not to come to the mansion—but you still did!"
Minnie raised a brow as she eavesdropped, blinking languidly while piecing together the argument.
"So this brother of his is just overly protective? Protective enough to show up here on the night of the full moon to drag him home?" she muttered quietly, nodding to herself. "I agree with the little guy. He does have an annoying brother."
"And what’s wrong with your wife?" Cassian continued. "Just this morning, when I woke up, she left a bunch of missed calls and messages asking about you! Where were you all night?"
Minnie couldn’t help commenting under her breath, "He’s definitely having an affair."
If only she knew the reason Cassian’s brother was missing last night was because she had knocked him out and buried him under the trash.
As Minnie continued eavesdropping, waiting for her chance to confront Cassian, she suddenly sniffed, and her expression twisted in disgust.
"A vampire," she whispered, sniffing again. On the second breath, she caught the unmistakable scent, and her eyes glinted.
Then, in the blink of an eye, Cassian felt a powerful gust of wind rush past him. It was strong enough to knock his phone from his hand. Then, almost right away, a violent surge of aura erupted nearby, forcing him to halt mid-step.
Turning, Cassian’s mouth fell open as he saw, in the distance, Severin with his arm raised and a black female wolf growling several meters away from him.
