Chapter 157: Chapter 157 Her cousin

_Virella’s POV_

I sat in the dining room of the mansion on Coast Island, one owned by Theodore, and the place he’d flown us to after we got burst by Alaric and his men.

Since the day they came to Rowena’s rescue, and the news not reporting of her death, I’d been in the worst mood ever.

I’d tried to contact someone to strangle her in her sick bed personally, but the information that greeted me was that the guards swarmed the entrance of her room, clustered by sardines.

Alaric made sure she was safe from everyone and everything.

My lips twitched for the hundredth time that morning as I poked at my food.

Just then, sounds of footsteps approaching echoed from the staircase. Without turning, I could already tell who it was.

“Still poking at your food?” Theodore asked as he pulled the chair beside me to sit down.

I didn’t bother looking at him. I was still mad about what he did.

He sighed and placed his cellphone on the table. “Virella, I did it for your own good.”

I scoffed. “It takes nothing to hurl her into the chopper by your men. I feel you did it on purpose.” I still didn’t look at him.

“True.”

“What?” I looked up at him instantly. “True? You let her go on purpose?”

He nodded.

My gaze narrowed at him. “Theodore, do you have a thing for Rowen_”

“Please end there. Don’t finish those absurd words.” He frowned and that was the first visible emotion I’d seen on his face since we got here. “I love you. And only you. Unlike you, I’m thinking straight and not blinded by anger.”

I glared at him.

“Look, Virella. Alaric is head over heels for Rowena Asthorne. Think about it, he’s the Alpha King. If anything happened to Rowena, he would use every ounce of energy and resources at his disposal to hunt you down. You’ll have to live the rest of your life in hiding. Is that what you want?”

His words struck a nerve.

But I was far too gone to think it through. If Rowena died and I had to live the rest of my life in hiding, then so be it.

I looked straight at Theodore. “I don’t care.”

“Virella,” he groaned but my phone pinged with an incoming message.

I ignored Theo to pick it up and go through the contents.

“The alpha king and the entire force will be on their way to the island in the next ten minutes.” I read out loud and carefully, fear crawling up my spine in an instant.

I head snapped toward Theodore. “Alaric is coming here.”

Theodore snatched the phone from me to see it was a text from him. My loyal cousin, Reid.

“We have to move.”

I snatched the phone back from Theo and called Reid, not caring about his warnings of not calling him while he was with Alaric.

Thankfully, he answered the phone.

“What is it? I told you not to call me.” He gritted into the phone.

“Did you rattle us out?” I asked.

“I had to. It’s the only way to prove I’m working on this case as carefully as possible.”

“Ugh, you’re really a pain in the ass, Reid. But thank you, we’ll get going now.”

He ended the call.

A lot of people including Theodore didn’t know that Reid wasn’t who he claimed to be at the Alpha King’s office.

His real name was Reid Malcolm, my cousin and favorite person since childhood.

When he’d started working for Alaric, he hadn’t told me at first, he just said he got a good job and back then, Alaric wasn’t Alpha. He was good friends with Reid, they were so close that Reid suggested I marry Alaric because he would become Alpha of his pack.

Reid never mentioned me to Alaric either. So no one knew of the relationship between the two of us.

When I got pregnant, I informed him. I’d bawled my eyes out for him and manipulated him into helping me. By then, he was Beta to Alaric who became not just Alpha but the head of Alphas. The Alpha King.

I wasn’t patient enough and I’d regretted booking up with Theodore. If I hadn’t been pregnant, maybe I’d have ended up as Luna Queen.

Just a thought.

Now, Reid helps me. He’d never been in support of what I was doing to Rowena. He’d scolded me badly, might I add, and he even slapped me hard.

It didn’t change my mind. He said he wouldn’t help but here he was, informing me about Alaric’s impending arrival.

As if reading my mind, my phone buzzed with another message again.

I read it.

“This is going to be the last time I help you. Leave this country and lay low for a while. Inform that stupid lover of yours to take you out safely. Stay away from Rowena and the rest. This is my final warning.”

Theodore stood up and was already making calls and plans of moving us out.

I hurried upstairs to get my things ready for departure.

This wasn’t the life I wanted for myself, but I loved the idea of my enemies disappearing at the cost of just a little thing, such as going into hiding.

I’d hide forever if it meant removing the people I hated.

One of them is Rowena Ashthorne.

I would never let her go easily. The plans I’d made must come together and be executed perfectly. I would become Luna.

And for that to happen, Rowena Ashthorne has to disappear.
