Chapter 1789: Chapter 1789: One Against Seven
In the Special Department’s lab, Lou Lan was testing those drinks.
The printer chattered away, spitting out report after report, with the final data basically all the same.
Lou Lan’s face was grim. "I didn’t expect their tech to be this advanced. It’s practically impossible to guard against."
Little Taotie lay sprawled on the table, a bit drowsy. "Is it D?"
Lou Lan nodded. "If you’re sleepy, go crash."
"No way, I still have to study! This is so awesome—just fiddle around like this and that, pour things back and forth between test tubes, and you can figure out the components!"
"Looks like you’re really into this."
Little Taotie nodded hard, her big eyes sparkling.
"Didn’t you say you want to be an archaeologist when you grow up? What, changing your dream now?"
"Archaeology needs chemical experiments too!"
"So you haven’t changed it after all." Lou Lan said, sounding slightly disappointed.
Little Taotie was very gifted at Bone Crushing, and Lou Lan really hoped she’d study medicine, but the little girl only seemed interested; she didn’t have much desire to actually change her ambition.
Lou Lan called the Team One Captain. "It’s confirmed, we’ve got evidence. You can close the net."
But before they could close in, Qin Xin had already fallen into a predicament.
A man in a sharp suit and Gold-rimmed Glasses smiled gently and elegantly. "Mr. Qin, taking without asking is stealing."
Qin Xin was surrounded by seven Black Men bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses, all over 1.9 meters tall.
Qin Xin showed no trace of panic or fear. Instead, he straightened his tie, narrowed his eyes, and asked, "Just seven of you?"
"Looks like the reason Mr. Qin didn’t bring bodyguards is that you’re a bit too confident. I’ve always heard Hua Country People all know kung fu. Why don’t you let me see it for myself?"
"Heh, you’re not from Hua Country?"
"By blood, I am. But—" He pointed at his chest. "Not here."
"So, another dog that doesn’t recognize his ancestors."
"Seems Mr. Qin doesn’t want his tongue anymore."
The man kept his elegant smile as he said to the seven bodyguards, "Then go cut Mr. Qin’s tongue out."
The seven bodyguards in black tightened the circle, getting closer and closer to Qin Xin. Their height and bulk were overwhelmingly oppressive; their shadows already wrapped Qin Xin up completely.
"Why don’t you all come at once." Qin Xin said with a squinting smile.
"Mr. Qin, how shamelessly you boast. Since Mr. Qin has invited you all, why not oblige him?"
The seven of them struck at the same time. Qin Xin dropped into a squat, and just when everyone thought he was about to unleash some big move, he suddenly darted between the legs of one of the tallest guys and bolted without looking back!
The air froze for three seconds.
Qin Xin was already far, far away.
The man, utterly furious and unable to maintain his elegant demeanor, snapped, "What are you all standing there for? After him!"
Qin Xin had just run out when he came face-to-face with the Team One Captain. Though the two had never met, they’d seen each other in Little Taotie’s photo album.
"Little Taotie’s second brother?"
"Team One Captain?"
The two spoke at the same time.
And then nodded at the same time.
"What are you doing here?" The Team One Captain frowned tightly.
"This is not the time to talk. There are seven mercenaries behind me trying to kill me. Can you handle it?" Qin Xin sized up the Team One Captain with a doubtful look.
Although the Team One Captain was also tall and sturdy, by eye he was only about 1.8 meters. Compared to those seven Black Men over 1.9, he really didn’t look like much.
"Just seven." The Team One Captain’s tone was light and casual.
It sounded a bit like the forced calm Qin Xin had been putting on earlier, so Qin Xin was extremely skeptical.
The seven had already caught up. Qin Xin ducked behind the Team One Captain. "I’m counting on you!"
The Team One Captain flexed his wrists, his joints cracking crisply. "Relax."
