Chapter 1722: Chapter 1722: Digging with a Pink Little Shovel
The rolling black stone came to a stop.
Its position was bottom side up, and surprisingly, the side that had been pressed for thousands of years, had inscriptions on it!
Little Taotie dashed over, Hua Jinyan followed, and Nie Qing and Lou Lan quickened their pace.
Nie Qing: "Looks like we found the right place after all."
Lou Lan frowned: "Let’s take another look."
The four of them surrounded the black boulder, clearly seeing the stone’s bottom inscriptions, which were in an ancient script.
Lou Lan surprisingly had some knowledge of this script.
"East three hundred, West one hundred..." Lou Lan murmured aloud.
"Is Teacher referring to what’s written on the stone?" Little Taotie wondered.
Hua Jinyan nodded: "Probably."
Nie Qing: "I can make out the words ’hundred taels’."
After Lou Lan finished reading, she exhaled: "I think it resembles a map, maybe if we search according to the map where the stone originally was, we might find something."
No one disagreed, and the four began to search.
Lou Lan stood three steps ahead of the Ancient Pagoda’s location: "It should be here."
Little Taotie took out a small shovel and started working.
The pink small shovel scooped the dirt, sending the soil flying.
"...Where did you conjure that from?" Lou Lan looked at Little Taotie in shock.
Little Taotie giggled: "I’ve always kept it in my bag."
Lou Lan utterly couldn’t understand the logic of children, who hides a toy shovel in their bag while going out? Probably only her!
Little Taotie, being strong, joyfully dug the dirt, and soon, she hit something, the shovel making a solid sound.
"What is it? Dig it out."
It was a very dirty box, the material of which was hard to distinguish.
It seemed like copper but didn’t exactly match.
Little Taotie wanted to open the box; although it had a lock, it was of no consequence to her.
For someone strong, it’s simply a matter of violently removing the lock to complete the task.
Just as Little Taotie was about to crudely break the lock, Hua Jinyan stopped her.
"Don’t open the box carelessly, if there’s toxic gas and you inhale it, even an immortal couldn’t save you." Lou Lan tapped Little Taotie’s forehead and took the box away.
Little Taotie: "I won’t break it, can you give the box back to me?"
"Such dangerous things are definitely kept by adults."
Eventually, Little Taotie couldn’t get the box back, puffing her cheeks, looking like a bullied little pufferfish.
Though Hua Jinyan also wanted to help Little Taotie get it back, Lou Lan was right; in ancient tombs where such boxes are discovered, they usually aren’t opened recklessly; they are scanned first to ensure safety before opening.
Little Taotie absentmindedly dug with her pink small shovel, having no mood to dig now that the box was gone.
Just as she was about to give up and stop digging, she hit something again, resulting in a slight collision sound.
Little Taotie was first stunned, then ecstatic, quickly hiding the item behind her, glancing cautiously at Lou Lan, fearing she would snatch it away again.
Lou Lan: "...No need to guard against me like that."
"I have to guard!" Little Taotie turned her back, squatted down, blocking Lou Lan’s view with her small frame.
Lou Lan stepped forward: "Let me see what it is."
Little Taotie hugged the thing and turned the other way, refusing to show her.
"Let me take a look."
"Unless you give the box back to me, otherwise I won’t show you."
"I’ll give it to you, but you can’t open it now, only after scanning can it be opened."
"Promise, no going back on your word!" Little Taotie laughed and put the broken bowl she had dug out on the ground: "You can take a look."
