Chapter 1711: Chapter 1711: Take All the Gold Bricks
Little Taotie’s little trick could have been uncovered by anyone with a bit of wit.
But the Ancient Pagoda seemed not to be quite right in its mind, or perhaps it truly had become a spirit, though it hadn’t been one for long, still showing signs of foolishness.
It seemed to genuinely believe it was just a little short of hitting the mark, tossing gold bricks as if they were free.
But in reality, every gold brick cost something, each one was a strain, and they were being taken from the pagoda itself.
With each gold brick thrown, there was one less gold brick on the Ancient Pagoda.
At this moment, the Ancient Pagoda was even more tilted, falling within the range of the Leaning Tower.
Little Taotie looked at the gold bricks scattered on the ground, clapping joyfully: "Keep up with this, and without me needing to dismantle it, it’ll tear itself apart!"
Hua Jinyan shook his head with a chuckle.
It seemed that all crisis situations, catastrophic and perilous for others, could be turned favorable by Little Taotie, even gaining benefits in the process.
Just like the rumors in the entertainment world, she truly seemed to be a walking Little God of Wealth.
Hua Jinyan looked at the gold bricks all over the place and then at the Ancient Pagoda which already had gaping holes, thinking the pagoda would collapse within an hour.
The fact was indeed so; the pagoda was on the verge of collapse in less than an hour.
Crash!
The angle of the Ancient Pagoda’s tilt could no longer hold, and eventually, it smashed to the ground, shattering into pieces, leaving gold bricks everywhere.
Just a moment ago Little Taotie was dodging around, now she rushed towards the collapsed pagoda, calling out: "You finally collapsed, but I didn’t do anything; you tore yourself apart, I’m just picking up the leftovers."
While speaking, she began to pick up the scattered gold bricks.
Little Taotie wasn’t sure if they could be placed in the Horse-Faced Bell, but since there was a previous instance of dry branches being placed in the Horse-Faced Bell, she tried putting a gold brick inside, and it worked!
Now, the girl seemed energized, gathering gold bricks all along the way.
She didn’t place the gold bricks in the Horse-Faced Bell that held the candles but put them in the one with the dry branches. She didn’t know if the gold bricks might harm the candles and flames, but if they were aggressive, let them "spar" with the branches in the Horse-Faced Bell!
Hua Jinyan stepped forward to help.
The two of them collecting together sped up the process considerably.
The surface of the Ancient Pagoda was rotten wood, but internally, it was constructed entirely from gold bricks, so once all the bricks were placed in the Horse-Faced Bell, only rotten wood remained scattered on the ground.
"I’m so tired," Little Taotie waved her sore arms, "Are you tired?"
Hua Jinyan rubbed his shoulder: "I’m okay."
"Shall we head back then?" Little Taotie asked.
Hua Jinyan nodded.
From entering the Ancient Pagoda to its collapse, not much time had actually passed; more time was spent gathering the gold bricks.
Little Taotie yawned, clearly tired.
Hua Jinyan reached out to hold her small hand, "Let’s go home."
With the sun setting in the west, the two children walked away hand in hand.
A ghostly figure in ancient costume revealed its face from the shadows, its smile eerie and somber: "Greedy ones won’t have a good outcome."
The Ancient Pagoda had been there for thousands of years, countless had passed by, many mystical experts among them, but none could truly make it disappear from this land, just two kids, do they really think the pagoda has fallen?
Ridiculous!
It was merely the pagoda’s trick; if it didn’t pretend to collapse, how else could it enter that strange bell?
The ghostly figure in ancient costume retreated back into the shadows but let out a chilling laugh: "Haha, there’s a good show to watch."
