Chapter 79: 79. Gifts for everyone.
Two weeks quietly slipped by.
Within the secluded courtyard, the alchemy furnace burned almost without interruption.
Compared to refining Qi Refinement Pills, the process of refining Body Tempering Pills was considerably simpler. Even so, five hundred batches still represented an astonishing amount of work.
By the end of the second week, the final batch had at last been completed.
Lin Xuan slowly lifted the furnace lid as a rich medicinal fragrance spread through the courtyard.
Inside, ten perfectly round pills lay neatly arranged.
He carefully transferred them into jade bottles before storing them inside his storage ring.
Only after putting away the final bottle did he let out a long breath.
"...Finally finished."
Just then, he noticed people heading towards his courtyard.
The approaching aura was familiar, and it carried not the slightest hint of concealment.
He waved his sleeve and extinguished the lingering spiritual flame beneath the furnace before walking toward the courtyard entrance.
As the wooden gate came into view, two small figures appeared outside.
Leading the way was Lin Zhaoyue.
Three weeks of seclusion had done little to change her appearance, but the aura surrounding her had become noticeably more stable, her spiritual qi flowing with greater restraint than before.
Following half a step behind her was Lin Zhaoxi.
Lin Xuan had only just stepped out of the courtyard when the two children reached the entrance.
The moment Lin Zhaoyue saw him, her eyes brightened.
"Father!"
A smile immediately spread across Lin Xuan’s face.
"Yue’er."
Beside her, Lin Zhaoxi also stepped forward and respectfully cupped her fists.
"Hello, Uncle."
Lin Xuan nodded with a gentle smile.
"Zhaoxi."
His gaze swept over the two girls for a brief moment before shifting to the courtyard behind him.
"Don’t just stand outside."
"Come in."
As he spoke, he pushed open the courtyard gate wider and stepped aside.
Lin Zhaoyue entered first while Lin Zhaoxi followed more cautiously behind her.
Lin Xuan led the two girls into the study and after giving them seats, he poured three cups of tea before pushing a plate of pastries toward them.
"Help yourselves."
Lin Zhaoxi politely accepted a cup.
"Thank you, Uncle."
Lin Zhaoyue, however, merely glanced at the refreshments before shaking her head.
"No need."
She looked directly at Lin Xuan.
"Father, I heard from Elder Su that you exchanged for every Body Tempering Pill ingredient in the treasury, perhaps..."
She paused there, her lips curling into a knowing smile, as though she already knew the answer and was merely waiting for him to confirm it.
Lin Xuan couldn’t help but chuckle.
"You caught on."
With a flick of his wrist, a spatial ring flew gently across the table.
Lin Zhaoyue reached out and caught it with practiced ease.
Before she could ask, Lin Xuan spoke.
"I’ll leave it to you this time as well."
Lin Zhaoyue’s spiritual sense swept into the ring and when she did, her eyes widened in disbelief.
As suspected, there were row upon row of neatly arranged jade bottles.
Not only that, they were all pure quality pills.
Even Lin Zhaoyue, who had experienced countless things in her previous life, could not hide the surprise in her eyes.
"I trust you know how to make the best use of them."
Lin Xuan looked at the astonishment lingering in Lin Zhaoyue’s eyes and smiled faintly.
"Oh and there’s one more thing."
As he spoke, he reached toward the second spatial ring at his waist.
"I also happened to obtain this from a wandering merchant some time ago."
A book appeared in his hand.
"I remembered that your Martial Spirit is a fan, so I thought it might be of some use to you."
Before Lin Zhaoyue could respond, Lin Xuan gently placed the book on the table between them.
"It’s called the Flowing Cloud Fan Art, take a look at it when you’re free."
"Flowing Cloud Fan Art..."
Lin Zhaoyue softly repeated the name as she lowered her gaze to the book.
She slowly flipped open the first page and the calm expression on her face gradually disappeared.
Meanwhile, Lin Xuan quietly withdrew his gaze from Lin Zhaoyue and turned toward Lin Zhaoxi.
If he only gave his own daughter a gift while allowing her friend to return empty-handed, it would inevitably be somewhat inappropriate.
With a flick of his wrist, a slender sword appeared in his hand.
The blade shimmered with a cold light and a keen edge, proof of its exceptionally workmanship.
Lin Xuan extended it toward Lin Zhaoxi.
"I heard you awakened an eighth-grade Earth Rank Martial Spirit."
Lin Zhaoxi blinked in surprise.
She hurriedly stood up and waved both hands.
"U-Uncle, I can’t accept something so valuable..."
Lin Xuan merely smiled.
"Take it. A sword should be put into the hands of someone who can make good use of it."
Lin Zhaoxi hesitated before carefully receiving the weapon with both hands.
Only after holding it did she realize that the sword fit her almost perfectly, as though it had been forged specifically for her.
"Thank you, Uncle."
She bowed deeply, her voice filled with gratitude.
Lin Xuan simply nodded with a gentle smile.
Naturally, he had not learned about Lin Zhaoxi’s Martial Spirit from Su Qinglan.
———————————————————
Name: Lin Zhaoxi
Realm: Third Layer of the body tempering Realm
Martial Spirit: eight-Grade Earth Rank
———————————————————
The system was there for crucial information such as this.
Yet even Lin Xuan was somewhat surprised.
To have already reached the third layer of the Body Tempering Realm at such a young age...
Her talent truly lived up to an Eighth-Grade Earth Rank Martial Spirit.
His thoughts couldn’t help but drift toward the future.
If the Lin Clan continued producing disciples of this caliber while enjoying an endless supply of Pure Pills...
Just how high could the clan ultimately rise?
The more he thought about it, the more unbelievable his own ability seemed.
The ability of being able to refine nothing but Pure Pills was simply beyond reason.
In fact, he had basically the power to turn the pills that are rare to get to simply "were".
Meanwhile, Lin Zhaoxi carefully caressed the blade in her hands.
The sword seemed to naturally follow every subtle movement of her wrist, as though it had become an extension of her own arm.
Her eyes gradually reddened and bowed deeply.
"Uncle... this sword... It feels so smooth. I can’t help but notice that it feels like it was made specifically for me."
She hugged the sword to her chest before lowering her head once more.
"Thank you so much, Uncle."
Seeing the little girl’s sincere gratitude, Lin Xuan’s heart immediately softened.
...Aww.
Fortunately, he maintained the calm demeanor expected of a clan patriarch.
Ever since the day he had taken the two girls to the blacksmith shop to forge a flying sword, he had already asked the blacksmith to prepare suitable swords for each of them.
On the surface, it had been an opportunity to explain to Lin Zhaoyue why flying swords were so precious.
In reality, it had also allowed the experienced blacksmith to carefully observe the girls’ temperaments before forging swords that suited them as comfortably as possible.
Judging by Lin Zhaoxi’s reaction...
The blacksmith’s craftsmanship had undoubtedly exceeded expectations.
