Chapter 1623: Asmodeus’s Awakening
Just like how Atomic had raised the cultivation bases of Klaus’ wives and some of his beast companions, he had also worked on upgrading Asmodeus, the Undead Necromancer.
This decision was reached because Klaus wanted him ready for when Efad needed help clearing the rest of the Void Vortexes. So he upgraded him from the immortal stage to the Supreme stage.
Klaus had no idea what Asmodeus and the rest of his undead—Alesi and Eryx—had been up to after they left Earth. All they told him was that the next time they met, all of them would be at the stage where their strength would speak for itself.
Klaus had no doubt about that, since he knew they were indeed worthy warriors and capable subordinates. During the Era of the Paragon of War, the Undead trio played a key role in helping Magnus shape the universe into what he wanted.
They had played their part in making the universe what it is today.
So they would indeed return capable and stronger than ever. However, Asmodeus was different from them.
In fact, his nature was quite unique compared to the other two undead. He was a one-man army, and so Klaus wanted him closer. A typical example was what happened when he went into the Jade Nest.
His presence was vital back then, not because there weren’t many who could have fulfilled the role he played, but because he was perfect for it.
That decision was also reached mainly to make Asmodeus recognised as one of the Paragons’ subordinates, and so he would remain closer to that incarnation.
So he wasn’t allowed to go wandering around like the rest of Klaus’s undead and Perfect Soldiers.
Before his upgrade from the Immortal Monarch stage to the True Supreme stage, Asmodeus told Klaus that when he returned, his power would be so vast that even he wouldn’t be able to tell just how much.
When Klaus asked why he thought so, he only said that when everything was over, he would understand.
Right now, just when everyone on Planet Caelmir thought no threat would ever find its way into their lives, a wave of power so vast and corrupted washed over them, sending everyone below the realm of Universal Gods into a deep sleep.
It happened so fast that before anyone could react, it was already over. A sea of dark Necrotic Energy spread everywhere, causing those still conscious to feel as though death itself had found them.
"What is going on?" Queen Leah asked, her expression turning pale. She might be a Supreme now, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t afraid of the sudden blanket of Necrotic Energy covering the entire planet.
"It is Asmodeus. He is having his breakthrough," Orion said, trying his best to calm everyone down.
Even so, they remained on high alert. Necromancers weren’t that common in the universe, so it wasn’t every day that one experienced such an unnatural phenomenon.
The entire planet, when viewed from space, had turned completely dark.
However, while all of this was happening, somewhere within the royal gardens, a man clad in a high-tech dark cloak, with waves of purple hair cascading down his back, stood with a calm expression.
Behind him, a black metallic diagram featuring nine concentric rings within its axis hovered silently, releasing endless waves of Necrotic Energy.
The man had pale white skin, with runic tattoos lining his neck and a skeleton tattoo on the back of each hand. His Undead Staff, featuring a bone shaft crowned with a skull, hovered beside him.
Asmodeus appeared to be a 35-year-old human, but he possessed the aura of someone far older, someone whose knowledge had been accumulated over countless ages.
Looking into his dark eyes, one could see nothing but death and decay, the kind that every holy church would seize any opportunity to purge.
Of course, looking at the density of Supreme Energy oozing from his body, that thought of going after him would instantly be wiped from their minds.
Asmodeus looked completely different, yet at the same time, he was still the same evil necromancer who had once ruled battlefields and made countless warriors wish they had stayed home.
Suddenly, a massive door made of bones and skulls swung open, and five individuals, each exuding the aura of a Peak Celestial, perhaps even stronger than most Peak Celestial Supremes, walked out carrying five items.
The first held the skull of a demonic being, discernible by the large horns protruding from it, like those of a creature from the ancient, twisted, and unimaginably dark eras.
Clearly, the being to whom this skull had once belonged had been both incredibly ancient and extraordinarily evil.
The second person carried a rib cage that appeared to be forged from metal, or at least the bones looked metallic and unimaginably sturdy.
The third held a pair of legs that clearly belonged to the same being, as they possessed the same metallic sheen and overwhelming sturdiness.
The fourth carried the fibula bones, which shared the same properties as the legs, rib cage, and skull. The last, of course, carried the arms.
When they approached Asmodeus, they knelt and presented the items to him.
"My Lord, here are the remains of the Corrupted General you requested before you went into slumber."
Asmodeus looked at the materials presented to him and nodded.
"Good job, guys."
He grabbed hold of his staff and gently struck the ground with it. Instantly, an altar made entirely of bone materialised from beneath the earth, taking centre stage.
"Set the materials on it," he instructed, and the five Celestial-stage undead carefully placed the remains upon the altar.
Asmodeus waved his hand, and green flames ignited, engulfing the bones.
Then just as the flames appeared, he began muttering strange incantations as he slowly walked around the altar. The more he chanted, the more intense the flames became.
Time quickly passed, and before long, three hours had gone by.
Meanwhile, at the same time Asmodeus was awakening, Klaus was also undergoing the fake tribulation at the Elven Capital.
Just as he had expected, many people were keeping an eye on him, so he made sure to use the Lightning Source Diagram to simulate exactly what an Immortal King Tribulation should look like.
Luckily for him, the Lightning Source Diagram was perfect for what he had in mind. So he was able to create the ideal tribulation.
Less than an hour later, he was done, and now he was cocooned inside an ice cocoon. This was also part of the simulation.
He had merely used his Ice Element to create the cocoon, making it appear as though he was undergoing a serious transformation.
Soon, he would emerge as an Immortal King with unfathomable energy and strength...
But before that, Asmodeus was attempting something so dangerous and perhaps reckless. He had set out to create an undead capable of accomplishing something that even Klaus and all his incarnations couldn’t achieve in nine lifetimes.
Asmodeus wished to create an undead capable of traversing the Universe Ocean and find out what the Great Castastorphe is and when it would come. Basically, he wants to know what they would be going up against.
In his past life, he had come to learn about the Universe Chaos, and ever since, he had been working to find a way to send one of his Undead there, especially to a place even Klaus wouldn’t be able to get to, the Calamity Chasm.
Before he returned to the Undead Realm, when Magnus was about to enter reincarnation, he had tasked five of his strongest undead, whom he had freed, with hunting down a very powerful being from another universe and harvesting its bones for him.
Years later, they had returned, much stronger and even more formidable, carrying the very bones he had requested.
Four hours into the undead creation ceremony, the altar released a wave of power so vast that this time, everyone except Orion passed out, including King Alric, who was a Celestial.
RUMBLE!
Suddenly, the planet shuddered, and a deep humming sound spread across the entire planet.
