Chapter 985: Chapter 985: Emperor’s Tomb

Dong!

Dong!

The two landed simultaneously, finding themselves in a completely unfamiliar space.

As they exchanged glances and attempted to understand their situation, a chilling sense of danger swiftly followed.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Arrows, each half a meter long, shot towards them rapidly. As they pierced through the air, the arrowheads suddenly flashed with light, igniting into blazing flames!

Arrows rained down from every direction, numbering in the hundreds and thousands, densely packed.

Liu Zixuan and Zhao Yi exchanged a look and without considering what was happening or where they were, they drew their weapons to fend off the storm-like barrage of arrows!

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Sparks flew as arrows shattered under the strikes of the Nameless Sword and Celestial Spirit Saber, yet the dense barrage was impossible to completely evade. By the time the arrows ceased their attack, the two had become half-pincushion.

Liu Zixuan had two arrows embedded in his arm, while Zhao Yi was in a more dire state, with arrows piercing his front, back, arms, and legs.

Fortunately, both are Emperor Realm experts. Had an ordinary person entered, they would have been pierced through the heart by the countless arrows.

"What the hell is this?!" Zhao Yi cursed, gasping for air.

Liu Zixuan quickly pulled out the arrows, utilizing the Holy Medical Scripture for treatment, then moved to Zhao Yi’s side to help him remove his arrows.

It took about forty minutes to finish bandaging their wounds.

"Are you okay?" Liu Zixuan asked.

"Not too bad."

They each smoked two cigarettes before beginning to inspect the space around them.

They weren’t standing at the bottom of the space, but on a massive disc, suspended over two meters above the ground.

Thick chains like legs hung around the edges of the enormous disc, extending towards dragon-head sculptures carved from stone.

It created the illusion that the dragon heads spat out chains that suspended the massive disc in mid-air.

The space was large, about the size of a basketball court, with no side chambers visible, as the walls were fully within view.

The surrounding walls were engraved with many designs; the left wall depicted a massive palace with a solitary figure on a throne, no one below him, evoking solitude and desolation.

The right wall showed mountains of skeletons and rivers of blood; the rear wall featured a gathering of people worshipping a large, faceless and bizarre sculpture.

Lastly, they turned their gaze to the wall directly ahead.

Strangely enough, whether ancient or modern, the front was indisputably considered the best place, yet the wall before them, though framed with borders, bore no carvings—a blank slate, leaving them perplexed.

"Zixuan, shall we go down and check it out?" Zhao Yi asked.

The scene below was not fully visible due to the disc’s obstruction.

Liu Zixuan frowned slightly: "Wait!"

Saying this, he took out two Bone Needles made from Blood-Phosphorus Flood Dragon Bone Spike and shot them downward.

Whoosh!

Rumble!

As the two Bone Needles pierced the ground, a loud rumble followed, and countless arrows once again shot rapidly across the space below.

Zhao Yi took a sharp breath: "Good thing we didn’t go down, otherwise we’d be porcupines again!"

"Seems the tomb owner detested intrusions; otherwise, they wouldn’t have set such mechanisms!" Liu Zixuan said, then leapt down.

"Are those Terracotta Warriors?" Zhao Yi asked in astonishment after descending.

The space beneath the disc was still large, with many trenches on what was originally flat ground.

Nearly a hundred statues stood in these trenches, carved from stone, armed with swords, spears, and more, resembling Terracotta Warriors.

"The tomb owner must have held a high position in life," Liu Zixuan said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Based on this, I’ve also guessed the meaning of those three images!"

"What do they mean?" Zhao Yi asked.

"In sequence, first the image of mountains of bones likely depicts conquering scenes, where countless enemies and allies of the ruler perished for supreme authority." Liu Zixuan explained.

"Then by your logic, the second image should show worship? And those worshipping should be admiring the ruler with authority?" Zhao Yi conjectured.

"You make sense, but I believe the second image depicts an Imperial Palace with a lone figure occupying the Emperor’s Position, while the hall remains empty; it symbolizes gaining the kingdom, yet losing all close ones!" Liu Zixuan proposed.

"That doesn’t make sense then, who are those worshippers then?" Zhao Yi questioned, pointing at the image.

Liu Zixuan shook his head: "That’s also my question. It might relate to the blank front wall."

"It’s just a blank panel," Zhao Yi chuckled. "Zixuan, I think your theory is entirely off."

Liu Zixuan waved his hand: "Don’t you find it strange? The hall front is the central position, feng shui-wise it’s the Cyan Dragon layout, the most crucial elements are placed front and center, yet now the front is blank, while the ruler occupies a side position; it’s illogical unless the blank front represents something stronger than the ruler!"

"Stronger than a ruler?" Zhao Yi suddenly looked up: "Immortal?"

"Possibly. Throughout history, countless rulers sought immortality as their lives waned, exploring paths to divinity. Although some might scoff at these, it’s factual history." Liu Zixuan mused.

"Look at the ancient Profound Emperor; he squandered resources pursuing immortality, leading many innocents to their demise, ultimately dispatching Xu Feng with youths and the National Treasure to Hai Province searching for the Immortal Realm." Liu Zixuan mocked.

"I just mentioned it casually, you truly believe it?" Zhao Yi grinned awkwardly.

"Let’s call it idle chatter." Liu Zixuan redirected his gaze around: "In this interred crypt, such matters aren’t essential to us; we’re after the Seven-Star Tomb!"

Their position seemed like a passage with trenches branching to its sides.

Forward through the passage lay a hall-like structure, featuring the Emperor’s Position, flanked by positions where ministers would stand, designed like an ancient Imperial Palace during a court assembly.

This further confirmed Liu Zixuan’s suspicion that the tomb owner’s identity might have been a dynasty’s ruler!

And accompanying the Seven-Star Tomb is indeed the Emperor’s Tomb!

Yet Liu Zixuan doesn’t believe this belongs to a famed historical ruler; this setup doesn’t meet the specifications of a true Emperor’s Tomb, akin to those of Lanlou Ancient Country, suggesting it belonged to a long-subordinate minor state.
