Chapter 2337: Immature thoughts
While flying, improving his necklace, and harvesting more resources, Lex also began to address one of his most important concerns. He had no idea how long the barrier around his actual body would hold. Heck, for all he knew, it might have already been broken!
If, previously, he had some faint connection or understanding of what was happening around his body, now he could not sense it at all! He had a feeling that his stalker had put up some isolation barriers to make them harder to find - an understandable series of actions considering that Lex was supposed to be under the Innkeeper’s protection.
What he did not know was that the reason for more isolation formations was not the Innkeeper, but the fact that his body kept getting feedback from Jack’s and his own actions.
Previously, there was nothing he could do about it. Even if the barrier was broken, Lex could not do anything about it simply because he had no confidence in facing him.
Now, Lex had addressed the few fundamental issues that limited the necklace’s ability to allow him to use his full strength. He’d also added a preliminary framework for his new Domination and altered the necklace enough where it could allow him to fight his stalker without getting suppressed the way he was previously.
That did not mean Lex was in a rush to go fight him - far from it. He had been so heavily suppressed in the previous fight that Lex doubted he’d seen the full extent of his stalker’s powers. Thus, what was originally his full plan to get revenge had now become his bare minimum.
Jack’s transference of the divine metal from his body to the necklace proved that the divine metal could move from one soul to another. Thus, his first task right now was to establish a connection between the necklace and his main body. He wanted to make it so that as soon as the barrier broke, or at least when his body or soul were in danger, he’d be able to sense it so that he could transport himself over.
Ensuring such a thing was easier said than done, but he had to do it anyway. However, that was merely a contingency plan. His best bet would be to stay in the Gilded Hollow for as long as possible and strengthen the necklace as much as he could.
While his own strength was, technically, not growing by doing this, the means available to him became more diversified, and he’d be better capable of reacting to different situations.
He remembered that back in Abaddon he’d done something similar. He’d created a Lawcraft that could only be used in Abaddon - the Abaddon Inn! While not exactly the same, the premise was still that within the Abaddon Inn he’d have greater control.
It was not something he tried again because a similar Lawcraft was much harder to design outside Abaddon. However, he had not considered creating a treasure that could allow him to do something similar. The reason was that usually Lex preferred to strengthen himself rather than relying on treasures. Besides, he had Naraka and the Karmic Bead.
Making another treasure of similar quality would not be an easy task, so he had not done it at all. Well now, he had no choice. At least the necklace was not strictly an external tool, since it was a part of himself.
Connecting to his main body also wasn’t something that could be achieved easily, not to mention that transporting to his main body would take up an immense amount of divine energy.
Thus, Lex and Jack worked in unison. Lex tried to forge a connection between the necklace and the main body so that it could be sensed easily, while Jack began working on sending a piece of divine metal that was filled to the brim with divine energy.
Whether he returned in response to an emergency, or he gained all he could from the Hollow, his preparation now would be the foundation of his return in the future.
As for his chances of reaching Fortune city...
Lex looked at the glass bottle in his hand that kept changing directions slightly every time he crossed a certain checkpoint, and then looked at his surroundings. Not a single speck of land in the Gilded Hollow lacked valuable resources.
Whether it was rare herbs growing as commonly as grass, forests filled with trees that were rarer than rare, or barren mountains that were actually entirely made up of valuable ore, the Hollow had it all! Honestly, even though the resources were on the level of Heaven Immortal, the sheer quantity of them, not to mention their high quality, made Lex feel extremely satisfied.
In fact, he was beginning to not mind the peaceful nature of harvesting so many resources without any real trouble. Sure, some of the forests fought back, and sure some of the mountains tried to eat him. But so what?
To him, that was still peaceful. He shouldn’t be ungrateful for the rare moment of peace he was having. Actually, considering how much trouble he was in, it would be less than ideal if he got pulled into the greater dangers of the Gilded Hollow. His previous thoughts of boredom were somewhat immature.
He calmed himself down, and continued to enjoy the plentiful harvest.
Lex shot through the sky like a shooting star, pulling up all resources within a certain range of himself without reserve, creating quite the spectacle, making him hard to ignore. Considering that he hadn’t really run into any other sentient beings - or at least beings that weren’t entirely controlled by their instincts - he had no intentions of stopping.
Off in the distance, however, a snake suddenly opened its eyes, noticing the odd situation.
"What the hell is going on? Is that imbecile not afraid of the Hollow’s retribution?" she asked, filled with equal parts horror and shock. Her gaze locked onto the figure at the center of the phenomenon, and suddenly she was stunned. That aura... it was so different? Who was this person?
At the same time, Lex felt someone’s gaze falling upon him, and he paused, immediately locking in on the beast staring at him. A mere glance was all he needed to see through her entirely. After all, she was merely in the middle of the Heaven Immortal realm.
"A primordial earth serpent? The race seems to be right, but she lacks all primordial aura... a descendant? But wouldn’t that cause a mutation in the race?" Lex muttered.
Primordial beings were those that were born at the beginning of the universe. Their descendants, while carrying some of their traits, could no longer take on the same exact race as their ancestors. The closest they could come to their ancestors was to reach the level of Mythic beings - the beings that were usually born at the birth of a realm. Mythic beings had the highest possible talent and bloodline potential in modern day.
So why was this snake... an exact primordial race while still lacking all primordial aura? How interesting.
