Chapter 483: Chapter 343: Vomit Contagion (Part 2)

But her nails were bent, and they didn’t look very sharp, probably due to a lack of calcium. If she hadn’t used them for a long time, how did she get her food?

And going to the bathroom wouldn’t be convenient either!

"That’s a good question. If you don’t know, how would I know? Look at your nails. Do these look like the hands of a working person?"

Anna Jin lowered her head, looking at her hands as if she was falling into a new round of memories. She covered her head with both hands, grabbing her loose and messy hair. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"No, no, no—" She seemed to think of something, shaking her head frantically with a terrified expression, like someone who had just received a death sentence.

She stuck a finger into her mouth, but her nails were too long, so she snapped them off and continued reaching down her throat.

The sound of dry heaving made me feel uncomfortable. It seemed like she was trying to vomit something out. Miss Tang, who was initially fine, was also affected by Anna Jin and began dry heaving too.

Then we witnessed a scene straight out of a horror movie. First, we saw the head of something emerge from Anna Jin’s mouth. It was like a snake, but without scales, soft-bodied, and purple-skinned.

Anna Jin was fierce, grabbing the head of the creature and pulling it out. Naturally, the thing resisted, not wanting to come out. Anna Jin was vomiting while forcefully pulling, and she managed to yank the thing out.

The thing was about a foot and a half long, as thick as two fingers, and when thrown to the ground, it tried to burrow into the sand.

Anna Jin didn’t give it a chance to escape. She grabbed a stone nearby and smashed it violently, turning the thing into a pulp.

"See how terrifying parasites can be." I turned to Miss Tang and said.

"Can you not disgust me?" Miss Tang had just finished vomiting, her brows knitted into a frown.

"Sorry~" I raised my hand and made a downward pressing motion, signaling her to swallow and not vomit again.

The fierce Anna Jin seemed like she had fulfilled her dying wish, suddenly collapsing. But she was breathing heavily, clearly in distress, tears and snot running down her face. That pulling must have been quite a struggle for her.

I looked at the sky. If we waited any longer, we wouldn’t be able to return at the scheduled time. But in their condition, they couldn’t be dragged along, and even walking a few steps might cause them to collapse. I wasn’t capable of carrying corpses...

After more than another hour, Anna Jin seemed to recover a bit. Of course, I mean she could communicate normally, but she was still unable to walk.

As things stood, we could only wait for Qinghan and the others to come and pick us up, as long as none of those desiccated bodies that the big worms ate decided to ambush us.

Before dawn, I asked Anna Jin if we could go into that cave when the sun came out later and risked giving them heatstroke.

Anna Jin said no. The cave was full of eggs, which had been there for thousands or even tens of thousands of years. They were in a dormant state but would awaken and grow once inside a human body.

I asked, was there a water source in the cave?

Anna Jin nodded. Despite using a filter and putting purification tablets in the water, those who drank it were still infected by parasites.

She also discovered that the parasites particularly loved eating a type of stone inside the cave, different from regular rocks. Its texture was softer, with a hardness similar to limestone. When nibbled at slowly, it was comparable to a loaf of bread dried for a month.

Anna Jin was the last one infected because she drank the water later, after everyone else had already fallen ill. She witnessed the various symptoms they exhibited.

One of the behaviors was eating those limestone-like stones—the more they ate, the faster the worms grew. When Anna Jin realized this, she tried to stop another team member, but sadly she failed.

The person devoured a watermelon-sized stone, and then their intestines rotted.

Anna Jin found that the worms that burst out from that person weren’t growing quickly; they were actually very slow in eating.

Spending half a day barely nibbled off a nail-sized piece of stone, Anna Jin witnessed her teammates’ gruesome deaths, leaving a warning behind, as she felt herself increasingly influenced by the worms, with an overwhelming urge to gnaw on stones.

So she sealed the cave entrance and took an overdose of drugs, attempting to end her life.

The dizziness, nausea, and palpitations caused by the overdose tortured her into unconsciousness, and her memory stopped at that moment.

Evidently, the drugs she took didn’t have an anti-parasitic effect, and she didn’t even succeed in killing herself. I suspected she might have taken an overdose of vitamins in a state of mental disorientation.

Anyway, the worm was so big, coiled inside her stomach, and she definitely didn’t feel hungry, and the worm wasn’t afraid of stomach acid since it hadn’t been digested after such a long time.
