Chapter 465: Chapter 337: A True Expert Hides His Talents (Part 2)

Wuyong and Ou Chen both knew where the ’safe house’ in the city center was, but the likelihood of Mr. Tang encountering Wuyong and getting news from her was somewhat low, as the lair of the Two-headed Wolf was not so easily approachable.

Gu asked what that person looked like, and Mr. Tang’s description matched Ou Chen completely. He said Ou Chen once asked him to destroy the core, but Mr. Tang was unable to; it was already quite difficult for him to survive until now.

As for his colleagues, most of them died in an accident, and those who survived died one by one in the following days.

Why was Mr. Tang the only one who hid in the museum to save his life?

He said seven people hid with him, some couldn’t hold back and didn’t want to wait for death, some attacked each other, and one even killed for a biscuit.

Mr. Tang had thoughts of giving up on life, not eating or drinking, and curled up in a corner ready to wait for death.

It was Ou Chen who brought him food. When he came to, he was the only survivor in the museum.

He thought of his daughter after hearing Ou Chen’s words, so he gritted his teeth and persisted.

The food Ou Chen found was definitely not gourmet; Mr. Tang ate until he was gaunt and his hair became sparse.

We had seen his picture before we came. The picture was taken before he disappeared; back then he was still a spirited old man with lush black hair, whether dyed or natural.

In his fifties, he looked only forty-something, and had a refined demeanor that marked him as a cultured person.

I suspect that in the Underground Dark World, only I and the poisonous mushroom have continued to thrive with vitality.

Although Mr. Tang couldn’t reveal much information, he confirmed they were involved in a plan, and the Ancient City was indeed underground and hadn’t surfaced yet.

Mike was interested in who initiated this plan. He told Mr. Tang he didn’t need to mention specific names, only whether it was the Kangaroo Country organization.

Mr. Tang nodded, meaning that Kangaroo Country already knew of the existence of the Ancient City, and even the cowboy hat and Ou Chen might have been sent in as forerunners, so the cowboy hat paid no attention to Mike’s threats.

When the matter got messed up, they sent people in one after another to fix the situation, resulting in quite a few people being sent in altogether, and in the end, the light sphere was taken by Bi Shi.

Mike’s anger was written all over his face, but he did not show it; what difference did it make now that he knew it was his own superiors who were responsible?

I believe few would fail to investigate if they knew there was a mysterious force hidden within their own country; a new energy source, mysterious power, who wouldn’t want that?

Only to come away empty-handed is maddening.

There’s nothing to be done; the crystal was obtained by me at the risk of my life, and I won’t hand it to outsiders, only to kin.

Mr. Tang said at first he didn’t know the plan was based in Kangaroo Country, he didn’t even know the destination when he boarded the plane.

After resting and replenishing food, the team members were in better spirits and had energy to talk, gathering around in the rock cave for a chat. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Doctor Du checked the stones in the rock cave and found no mutated corpses; we had avoided a few surface camping points before because of traveling by underground train.

On the return trip, there was no avoiding them, but fortunately, the first camping point was relatively safe.

Wang Le woke up from unconsciousness, his black handprint had disappeared, along with the memory of being controlled.

So he didn’t remember tricking me into touching the Crystal Stone, nor the existence of the Crystal Stone itself.

I glossed over it lightly, saying only that he called me into the light sphere.

Yet Wang Le was quite guilty, feeling he almost killed me, hoping I’d hit him to vent my anger.

I quickly waved my hand; if I hit him it wouldn’t be out of anger, but a life debt, and since I didn’t die, I didn’t need him to repay it.

Seeing I wouldn’t hit him, Wang Le said he owed me a favor, and he’d repay it when given the chance.

For frontline operatives like them, the experiences of saving or endangering each other are numerous. I saw he wasn’t so polite to Huang Zaijiang; maybe because it was our first collaboration he felt hung up on it.

Since he voluntarily said he owed me a favor, I naturally ’accepted’ it; he knew I owned a breakfast shop, perhaps he’d be a regular in the future.

Gu quietly told me he also owed me a favor; in the power room, encountering patient number 37, without me he felt he wouldn’t have survived.

Hearing this, I found it interesting; although he later saw patient number 37’s corpse, from his expression then and his attitude now, he didn’t realize he himself killed patient number 37.
