Chapter 72: Chapter 72: History Repeats Itself
"Good. Good. Very good."
A vicious look filled Lu Yuwei’s beautiful face. Her eyes shot out a fiercely bloodthirsty, savage light.
SWOOSH! The scar-faced young man from the Celestial Star Squad suddenly charged at Li Peiyi. Seeing this, Lu Yuwei shouted, "Stop!"
The young man stopped in his tracks, but the ferocity in his eyes didn’t diminish in the slightest. "Captain, she hurt you. I’m going to tear her to shreds."
"Wu Lu, stand down!" Lu Yuwei snapped coldly. "I’ll personally grind this bitch’s bones to dust and torture her to death!"
Fongg Feiyu smirked. "Come back, Wu Lu. Are you doubting the captain’s strength? This woman is as good as dead."
Hearing this, the scar-faced young man, Wu Lu, slowly backed away.
"Li Peiyi, I never thought you’d be able to wound me," Lu Yuwei sneered. "For a Swordsman to abandon her own sword in the middle of a fight... I underestimated your nerve."
"A sword becomes an extension of its wielder. In the end, it’s just a weapon in a Martial Artist’s hands." After speaking, Li Peiyi retrieved another long white sword from her Storage Ring with a flash of light and pointed it at Lu Yuwei.
Lu Yuwei’s eyes narrowed. She shot toward Li Peiyi, her claws slashing through the air with a sinister wind that seemed capable of tearing space itself. Unafraid, Li Peiyi wielded her longsword as if it were an extension of her own arm, moving with incredible agility, making every single strike count.
Facing Li Peiyi’s impenetrable sword defense, Lu Yuwei condensed her True Essence and channeled it into her claws. She instantly shredded the Sword Curtain and lunged for Li Peiyi.
Li Peiyi didn’t dodge or retreat. She intended to use the same trick again: trading injury for injury. ’This lunatic!’ Lu Yuwei’s heart went cold.
"Fine, I’ll grant you your wish!"
With a roar, she struck Li Peiyi’s chest with even greater Palm Power. The defiant young woman before her immediately vomited blood, but her eyes flashed with unyielding resolve as she thrust her sword at Lu Yuwei.
Having fallen for the trick once before, Lu Yuwei was prepared. The moment her palm struck Li Peiyi, she shot backward without the slightest hesitation.
The sword thrust met nothing but empty air...
Amidst the ice and snow, a young woman stood covered in blood. Her white clothes were stained a crimson red. She used her sword to prop herself up, looking like a flickering candle in the wind, on the verge of collapse.
"Captain..."
The gap between Spiritual Element Seventh Grade and Profound Origin Seventh Grade was just too vast. Not everyone could challenge an opponent a Great Realm above them like Qin Ya.
THUD...
Li Peiyi collapsed.
"Being stubborn is pointless. You can’t escape death in the end!" Lu Yuwei sneered, a vicious glint in her eyes. She walked step by step toward the fallen Li Peiyi. Seeing this, Cheng Fei roared.
"Get away from her!"
"You’re courting death. Hmph!"
A cold light flashed in Lu Yuwei’s eyes. She swatted him away as if he were a fly, sending Cheng Fei flying. Still, Cheng Fei wouldn’t give up. He crawled toward Lu Yuwei. "You bastard! Bitch! Get away from Sister Li..."
"Get the fuck away, you bitch!"
Panlin and the other man went berserk. They struggled to their feet and charged at Lu Yuwei, only to be swatted away even faster than before.
"Hmph. How touching." Lu Yuwei sneered, then added viciously, "I’m not going to kill you just yet. First, I’m going to let you watch as I slowly torture your captain to death!"
"Heh, Captain, let me do it!"
The scar-faced young man, Wu Lu, stepped forward. He stared down at Li Peiyi on the ground, his eyes glinting with extreme cruelty. "I’ll be sure to satisfy you. I will slowly... ravage her to death..."
"Very well. She’s all yours, Wu Lu. You are the expert at this sort of thing, after all," Lu Yuwei said with a cold smirk.
"Haha, what a waste to give her to that kid Wu Lu."
"I remember the last guy screamed for two full hours before he finally died. If Wu Lu gets his hands on you, a quick death would be a mercy."
"This is going to be a good show. The wails of such a delicate beauty... just thinking about it gets me excited! Haha..."
...
Wu Lu’s eyes gleamed with bloodthirsty excitement as he slowly approached Li Peiyi. "Heh heh heh... For the crime of hurting our captain, I’m going to make you pay. You’ll pay it all back, drop by drop, with your blood."
He stopped in front of Li Peiyi and took out a slender sword. "The human body has countless acupoints. Some cause excruciating pain, while others force a person to stay perfectly conscious. I’m going to wake you up, and then you’ll watch as your own blood is slowly drained away."
"Oh, by the way, do you know how much blood a person has? How long it takes to bleed out? Especially a Martial Artist, whose Qi and Blood is so abundant. If I cut the meridians on your wrist, you could bleed for several hours. And don’t you worry. During those hours, I’ll let you sample some of my other techniques."
Wu Lu’s face was filled with a morbid fanaticism. He raised the slender sword and slowly aimed for Li Peiyi’s head. There was an acupoint there that would keep her conscious for a very long time.
"You bastard! Stop!"
"Get away from her, you sick fuck!"
Cheng Fei and his friends screamed themselves hoarse, their voices filled with despair. Just as the sword was about to strike Li Peiyi, a pair of icy eyes snapped open. A flash of white light followed...
"ARGH...!"
Wu Lu let out a wail of agony as blood sprayed through the air. A severed arm flew upward. Li Peiyi, who had been lying motionless on the ground, had suddenly sprung up and attacked, slashing off Wu Lu’s arm...
She then struck Wu Lu with her palm, severely injuring him. She pressed her sword against his throat, locking him in place with an icy killing intent that dared him to move.
"Li Peiyi, you bitch!"
Lu Yuwei’s expression was terrifyingly grim. "You were playing dead!"
"If any of you make a reckless move, believe me, his head will hit the ground before you can even touch me!" Li Peiyi’s face was pale, but the hand holding her sword was perfectly steady.
"You damn bitch!" Wu Lu roared in agony, clutching the stump of his arm. Suddenly, he felt a cold sensation on his neck as a thin line of blood appeared. The fear of death instantly consumed him.
"You’d do well to shut your mouth," Li Peiyi said coldly.
Lu Yuwei stared grimly at Li Peiyi and said, "Let him go, and I’ll grant you all a quick death."
"Hmph." Li Peiyi snorted, then said to Cheng Fei and the others behind her, "Can you still walk? Get out of here, quickly."
Among them, Cheng Fei was the least injured. He struggled to his feet, hoisted Gongsun Jing onto his back, and then helped Panlin up, the two supporting each other.
"Captain, what about you?"
"Just go. Don’t worry about me."
"But..."
"No ’buts’! I’m the captain!"
The familiar scene brought a wave of grief and regret to Panlin, Zhang Fengg, and Cheng Fei. They were too weak.
It had been like this in Ice Moon Valley when they faced the Snow Bear, and it was happening all over again, here in Ice Moon Valley, against the Celestial Star Squad.
"Let’s go," Cheng Fei said, fighting back tears. He and Panlin supported each other as they began to leave.
But the members of the Celestial Star Squad moved to block their path.
Li Peiyi’s expression changed. "I told you not to make any sudden moves," she said coldly. "Or I’ll kill him..."
"Haha, that’s hilarious."
Lu Yuwei suddenly burst into laughter.
