Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Spear Broken
"Hmph, this Dragon Scale Armor is a Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier I prepared especially for Yann’er. Its defense is so strong it can even block attacks from an ordinary Earth Element Realm Martial Artist, let alone Qin Ya, who’s only in the Spiritual Element Realm. In this deathmatch, Yann’er’s victory is certain." Wang Mingxiu smiled faintly, feeling a bit fortunate in his heart. ’If not for this armor, the outcome of this battle would truly be hard to predict.’
"The Dragon Scale Armor!" Wang Zilu exclaimed in awe, a hint of jealousy showing deep in his eyes. Although they were both young masters of the Wang Family, their treatment was vastly different. In terms of equipment alone, Wang Yan possessed the Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier, the Blazing Flame Saber, and now he had the Dragon Scale Armor as well. He, on the other hand, possessed only a single sword artifact, a mere Fourth-Grade Profound Soldier.
"Hmph. If you had your older brother’s talent, the family would pour all its resources into cultivating you as well," Wang Mingxiu snorted coldly.
Wang Zilu’s body trembled. He said respectfully, "I will work hard."
The appearance of the Dragon Scale Armor stunned many. On the viewing platform, Leng Ningshuang flew into a rage. "Bastard! Despicable! Shameless! It’s one thing to fight with a Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier, but to wear a piece of armor on top of that!"
"This is dangerous. Qin Ya is only in the Spiritual Element Realm. How can he possibly break through the defense of a Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier?" Worry flashed in Li Peiyi’s eyes, her voice laced with anxiety.
"I really didn’t expect Wang Yan to be this cautious, preparing such a Profound Soldier for a fight against Teacher Qin," Feng Ling said, then turned to the silent Muu Xue. "Muu Xue, do you think Teacher Qin still has any hope of winning this deathmatch?"
"Just keep watching."
Qin Yuxiang stared motionlessly at the white-robed young man below, her heart twisting in knots. ’Xiaoya... you have to win!’
"Damn, is this Wang Yan taking things a bit too seriously?"
"Duh, it’s a deathmatch. How could he not be serious?"
"Still, for Wang Yan to be this cautious in a deathmatch... preparing a full suit of armor to fight Qin Ya, whose cultivation is lower than his."
"Is there any point to this fight anymore?"
"There’s no point in watching. Qin Ya is definitely going to lose. That’s a Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier; there’s no way he can break through that defense."
"Such a shame, what a shame."
As for this deathmatch, ninety-nine percent of the spectators felt the suspense was gone. The result was already set in stone.
How was he supposed to fight? His Cultivation Realm was lower, and the gap in their equipment was as wide as the heavens and the earth. It was impressive that he hadn’t surrendered on the spot.
"Qin Ya, die in despair!"
Wang Yan roared with laughter as his Blazing Flame Saber cut a blazing arc of light through the air. Qin Ya’s face was grim. With a turn of his feet, he dodged the strike and, in the same motion, flicked his longspear out in a sharp thrust!
"Haha, useless!"
But Wang Yan neither dodged nor evaded, letting the spear tip strike him squarely in the chest. Sparks flew, but the strike failed to penetrate the armor’s defense—it didn’t even leave a white mark. A Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier was no joke.
Wang Yan ignored the longspear and chopped down at Qin Ya. But the young man’s waist twisted like a lithe python, and his spear tip shot up from below like a striking viper, aimed straight for the vital spot on Wang Yan’s throat.
That was a spot left unprotected by the Dragon Scale Armor.
Suddenly, the Dragon Scale Armor erupted in a brilliant light. CLANG! Qin Ya’s brow furrowed. He felt as if his spear had struck indestructible Profound Iron. Wang Yan gave a cold smile. "Did you really think a flaw in a Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier’s defense would be so easy for you to find?"
Light flowed across the Dragon Scale Armor, forming a helmet shaped like a dragon’s head from a transparent screen of light. It enveloped Wang Yan’s head completely. The spear tip struck this transparent helmet but failed to advance even an inch.
"What an exquisite Dragon Scale Armor," Master Tie exclaimed in amazement from the viewing platform. "The inscriptions, materials, and technique... in every aspect, it’s a masterpiece among Fifth-Grade Profound Soldiers. This battle... I’m afraid Wang Yan has won."
"This isn’t a victory of strength, but a victory of equipment."
In the arena, Qin Ya’s spear technique was like a dragon, its movements traceless. Wang Yan, however, was as wild as a demon, neither dodging nor evading, pouring all his energy into his attacks. Fortunately, Qin Ya leveraged his superior body technique to respond with ease.
Throat, head, eyes, ears, armpit...
With his spear in hand, Qin Ya was like a god of the spear reborn. The weapon seemed to have a life of its own, moving with fluid grace as it relentlessly attacked Wang Yan from every conceivable angle, leaving the spectators on the platform completely mesmerized.
"What incredible spear skills, so fluid and free."
"With spear skills like that on a battlefield, he’d be unstoppable."
"But what good are his spear skills? Look, he must have attacked over a hundred times, yet he still can’t get through that armor."
"Yeah, that armor provides flawless, 360-degree protection."
"This is basically cheating."
.........
"Go on, keep attacking!"
Wang Yan laughed wildly, his Blazing Flame Saber cutting toward Qin Ya like the wind. Though Qin Ya could dodge by using his Carefree Travel Body Technique, which incorporated the Wind’s Great Trend, he knew it was only a matter of time before Wang Yan seized an opening.
"Hah!"
With a sharp cry, Qin Ya’s spear tip struck Wang Yan’s right chest. The spear then began to spin like a drill, grinding out a shower of sparks as endless, sharp winds gathered and tore at Wang Yan from all sides.
"Useless!"
Wang Yan yelled, sinking his stance and bracing himself firmly against the spearhead. Qin Ya gripped the shaft and gave a sudden, powerful shove. The entire spear bent into a crescent, and then an immense elastic force erupted from it. BOOM! Wang Yan was flung dozens of yards away, crashing into a wall of the Warrior Arena.
As dust billowed up, the crowd stared intently.
Suddenly, a figure shot out like a cannonball, his face twisted in fury. Wang Yan’s Blazing Flame Saber flashed as he brought it down on Qin Ya.
Qin Ya gripped his spear and blocked with all his might. A heavy force traveled up the Hundred Battles Spear, sending him flying. He spun in the air to dissipate the momentum. When Qin Ya landed, the Hundred Battles Spear in his hand was trembling violently. The palm of his hand had been split open by the tremendous impact, and blood was streaming from the wound.
Even though he had used the True Essence Overlapping Waves technique to protect the Hundred Battles Spear, Wang Yan’s Blazing Flame Saber was a Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier, after all. A chip had already appeared on the spear’s shaft; he feared it wouldn’t withstand many more blows.
"You can’t defeat me! Blazing Flame of the Wildfire!"
Wang Yan roared as he unleashed the ultimate technique of his Blazing Flame Saber once more. A raging inferno surged toward Qin Ya like a wildfire. Qin Ya gave a faint smile, the sea of flames reflected in his eyes, and slowly uttered a single word: "Wind-Splitting!"
The spear thrust out, tearing the very wind, and the boundless sea of fire actually parted before it!
Holding his longspear, Qin Ya thrust forward, carving a path through the boundless sea of fire. At the end of that path stood Wang Yan, gripping his Blazing Flame Saber, his face a mask of brutal fury.
A sharp glint flashed in Wang Yan’s eyes as he watched the spear approach. "This move again! Excellent! I’d like to see just how you’ll break my defense!"
BOOM! The spear tip once again collided with the Dragon Scale Armor. Boundless Strong Qi erupted and flames churned, creating a zone devoid of fire around Qin Ya and Wang Yan. Within this space, Qin Ya’s eyes narrowed, his longspear pressed against the Dragon Scale Armor on Wang Yan’s right chest.
"Useless!"
Wang Yan roared, raising his Blazing Flame Saber high and bringing it chopping down toward Qin Ya’s head. Qin Ya retracted his spear to defend. CLANG! The longspear let out a mournful cry; it could finally bear no more and snapped in two.
