Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Superior and Inferior Weapons
"Get out of my way!"
The indifferent words came from Qin Ya’s lips. Lu Chen turned his head upon hearing them, his gaze meeting Qin Ya’s placid, unwavering eyes.
His eyes, as deep and dark as an ancient well, stared at Lu Chen. An invisible pressure radiated from Qin Ya as he said indifferently, "Get out of my way!"
Lu Chen’s pupils contracted. This was a pressure he had only ever felt from a few of the Elders in his family—formless and intangible, yet it struck directly at the soul.
In a daze, it felt as if he weren’t facing a young man, but a supreme Venerable. He found himself unconsciously stepping aside.
Qin Ya calmly walked past, nodding with a smile at Li Peiyi and the other two. The aura that had forced Lu Chen to bow his head instantly vanished, replaced by a disposition as gentle as a spring breeze.
Lu Chen snapped back to his senses, his expression turning utterly foul. He felt as if everyone around him was mocking him, laughing at how he’d lost his composure over a single sentence from Qin Ya. His hatred for Qin Ya deepened.
"Qin Ya, be extra careful in this battle."
"Teacher, you must come back. Muu Xue still has so many questions about the Alchemy Dao to ask you. Please take care."
Qin Ya nodded calmly, his gaze shifting to Wang Yan not far away. Their eyes met—one was aggressive as fire, the other as deep as the Abyss. Qin Ya walked over slowly and said faintly, "Sorry to keep you waiting."
"No matter. It’s only human to fear death. If you’d broken our agreement and not shown up, I wouldn’t have blamed you," Wang Yan said with an arrogant laugh.
"Heh. You should be grateful you got to live a little longer."
"I hope you don’t let..." Before Wang Yan could finish, his pupils suddenly shrank. He stared at Qin Ya and said with some uncertainty, "You’ve broken through to the Spiritual Element Realm?!"
The moment he said it, the crowd erupted in an uproar!
"You’re scared," Qin Ya stated indifferently.
Hearing this, Wang Yan roared with laughter. "Good, good! I was worried this match would be too boring. This makes things interesting."
After he finished laughing, he gave a cruel smile. "Don’t worry. I won’t let you die too quickly. I’ll make you understand what true despair feels like."
"I’m looking forward to it."
News of Qin Ya’s breakthrough to the Spiritual Element Realm spread through the crowd in an instant, causing a massive uproar. Most of them had looked into Qin Ya’s background, so they knew that just ten days ago, he was a Martial Artist at the Profound Yuan Eighth Grade. To make the leap to the Spiritual Element Realm in such a short time was astonishing.
"My god, this guy’s breakthrough speed is insane."
"I wouldn’t have been so shocked if he’d just gone from the Profound Yuan Eighth Grade to the Ninth Grade, but this is a breakthrough into a whole new Great Realm!"
"Hmph, so what if he’s in the Spiritual Element Realm? Wang Yan reached the Spiritual Element Realm years ago, and now he’s at the Spiritual Element Ninth Grade."
"This deathmatch just got a lot more interesting."
Qin Ya and Wang Yan slowly walked to the gates of the Warrior Arena. Each extended a hand, pressed it against one side, and with a sudden exertion of force, slowly pushed open the massive gates, which weighed thousands of pounds.
A brutal aura immediately washed over them as the Warrior Arena, with its centuries of history, came into view.
A circular plaza, dozens of yards in diameter, was covered in wind-blown sand. The air was thick with a smell like blood and rust, and above the plaza rose rows upon rows of seats.
Qin Ya and Wang Yan exchanged a look and then slowly stepped inside. The crowd behind them surged in like a tide, scrambling for the seats above, eager to find a good spot to watch the clash of titans.
"Let’s go, miss."
Perhaps because they were both there to support Qin Ya, Muu Xue felt a burgeoning fondness for Li Peiyi.
"Mm," Li Peiyi agreed.
Not far from the three young women, Leng Ningshuang said to Qin Yuxiang, who was beside her, "Sister Yuu Xiang, look at how popular Brother Qin is."
"My, what a strong scent of jealousy," Qin Yuxiang teased.
"I’m not jealous," Leng Ningshuang said, her face flushing slightly.
"Heh. Let’s go."
Qin Yuxiang watched Qin Ya’s back, a flicker of worry crossing her face. Then, she led Leng Ningshuang over to Li Peiyi and the other two, sitting down beside them.
"You’re... Qin Yuxiang!"
Li Peiyi stared at Qin Yuxiang in surprise. But then she remembered Qin Ya was here, so Qin Yuxiang’s presence wasn’t all that shocking.
What did surprise Li Peiyi, however, was that the Qin Family Elder seemed to have changed. Her aura had become boundless and ethereal, impossible to grasp.
What she didn’t know was that after taking the Realm-Breaking Pill, Qin Yuxiang’s cultivation had broken through to the Spiritual Element Realm, and her understanding of the Celestial-Level Technique, the Void Formless Heart Scripture, had deepened.
"Yes. Miss Li, it’s been a while."
"You know each other?" Muu Xue asked curiously.
Li Peiyi nodded. "She’s Qin Ya’s aunt."
The young women gathered together and introduced themselves. Perhaps with Qin Ya as their common link, they quickly hit it off.
All five were beauties, creating a stunning sight that attracted many stares. Upon learning that all five were connected to Qin Ya, the men in the crowd sighed to the heavens, feeling both jealous and resentful of him.
In the center of the circular plaza, Qin Ya and Wang Yan faced each other from several yards apart. Wang Yan sneered, "Qin Ya, if you surrender now, I might just spare your life. How about it?"
"Would you?" Qin Ya asked flatly.
At this, Wang Yan laughed loudly. "Of course not!"
A fiery red war saber then appeared in his hand. The blade was over a meter long, its body covered in mystical patterns from which Fire Serpents seemed to dance. The intense heat it radiated began to melt the surrounding sand.
The spectators gasped in astonishment.
"That’s the Blazing Flame Battle Saber, a Top-Level Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier!"
"The Wang Family is truly wealthy and powerful. A Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier can’t be cheap. It must cost at least tens of thousands of Gold Coins, right?"
"More than that. The Blazing Flame Saber is the absolute best of the Fifth-Grade Profound Soldiers. Wang Yan bought it at an auction for one hundred thousand Gold Coins."
"Good heavens, one hundred thousand..."
Qin Ya’s eyes narrowed slightly. He had experienced the power of this Blazing Flame Saber during his last fight with Wang Yan, and it was indeed impressive.
Seeing the saber again, Qin Ya smiled calmly. With a flash of black light, the chilling Hundred Battles Long Spear was suddenly in his hand.
The crowd saw the spear, froze for a moment, and then burst into laughter. "He’s not actually going to fight with that spear, is he?!"
"That Black Spear is a Second-Grade Profound Soldier at best. A dignified High-Level Teacher can’t afford a decent Profound Soldier? Is he just cheap?"
"I thought he was arrogant, but now I see he’s just ignorant and foolish. How many blows from the Blazing Flame Saber can that spear possibly withstand?"
A Second-Grade Profound Soldier might be considered a top-tier weapon in Anxing City, but here in the Imperial Capital, it was common junk.
Only Fourth-Grade Profound Soldiers were considered presentable. For a prodigy like Wang Yan, his personal weapon was typically a Fifth-Grade Profound Soldier or higher.
In a duel between Martial Artists, cultivation and strength are paramount, but the importance of a weapon cannot be underestimated. When two Martial Artists of the same Realm fight, the one with a better Profound Soldier will undoubtedly have a huge advantage.
Not only was there a huge gap between Qin Ya’s and Wang Yan’s realms, but many had also assumed he would try to make up for it with his equipment. Now, it seemed that wasn’t the case. They even began to wonder if Qin Ya was taking this deathmatch seriously at all.
