Chapter 275: Chapter 274: Heaven-Reaching Tower
"Hmm, so this is the kid causing trouble?"
One of the Extraordinary Martial Artists arrived above the Profound Vessel. Upon seeing Qin Ya, a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes.
’What a bunch of trash. They can’t even stop one person. Looks like I’ll have to report this to the Patriarch when I get back and tell him to strengthen Hai Kou’s Martial Power.’
The two Extraordinary Martial Artists paid Qin Ya no mind. He was just a young kid. No matter how strong he was, how could he possibly be stronger than two Extraordinary Martial Artists like themselves?
Just then, a frigid intent erupted!
The surrounding air temperature plummeted as gusts of cold wind swept past. Specks of Frost drifted down from the sky. This sudden, strange phenomenon startled the two men, and they immediately went on high alert. They looked toward the source of the frigid intent, their faces filled with shock. ’It’s him. This young man actually possesses such power!’
"It’s the Mysteries! This cold air is infused with the Mysteries!"
"Damn it! This kid is an Extraordinary Martial Artist! What the hell were those idiots doing? How dare they offend an Extraordinary Martial Artist! A bunch of pig-headed fools!"
While shocked by Qin Ya’s strength, the two Extraordinary retainers were also enraged by the actions of the Hai Kou Martial Artists. ’Extraordinary Martial Artists are all lofty figures. How dare this swarm of ants attack one!’
"Who might you be, sir?" one of them asked, his expression grave.
’To become an Extraordinary Martial Artist at such a young age... The faction that raised him must be incredibly powerful, at least on par with our Shangguan Family. If we act rashly and incur their wrath, it’s not a price we can afford to pay.’
"Enough talk. Let’s get this over with." Qin Ya couldn’t be bothered to explain. The constant obstructions had worn his patience thin. He was even starting to feel the urge to kill.
"Let’s just restrain him," the other Extraordinary Martial Artist said after a moment of thought, seeing that Qin Ya had no intention of explaining. He decided it was best to subdue him first.
"Right."
’There were two of them, and only one of Qin Ya. And he was so young; he couldn’t have been an Extraordinary Martial Artist for long. They figured he probably hadn’t even grasped the Mysteries of the First Heaven yet. For the two of them to capture him unharmed should be child’s play.’
One of the men blurred into motion, instantly appearing to Qin Ya’s left and grabbing for his shoulder. But Qin Ya’s expression remained as placid as ever.
’Just as I thought, a rookie.’
Seeing that Qin Ya didn’t move, the retainer thought he hadn’t had time to react. He rejoiced internally, but then, a sudden chill ran down his arm...
"ARGH! AHHH!"
A horrifying scream erupted. The retainer was wailing, clutching the stump of his right arm as blood gushed uncontrollably from between the fingers of his remaining hand.
His face was deathly pale, and he stared in terror at the young man before him. At his feet lay a severed arm, its fingers slightly curled.
As for Qin Ya, he hadn’t moved from his original position. His expression was placid, his right hand resting on the hilt of the longsword at his waist. He stood ramrod straight, exuding an aura as cold as glacial ice.
And the more composed Qin Ya seemed, the more terrified the man became.
’I didn’t even see him move... The gap between us... it’s too vast!’
"Elder Zhao!" The eyes of the other Extraordinary Martial Artist, who was still in the air, constricted. He blurred into motion, instantly appearing before Elder Zhao, grabbing him, and then immediately retreating, terrified that Qin Ya would strike again and kill them both.
Elder Zhao took out an Elixir and swallowed it, staunching the bleeding. He stared at Qin Ya, his eyes filled not only with resentment but, more profoundly, with overwhelming fear and shock. He said to the other Extraordinary Martial Artist, "It’s no use. The difference in our strength is too great. We have to get out of here."
"Right."
The other Extraordinary Martial Artist nodded grimly. ’We didn’t even see him move. If he wanted to kill us, it would be over in an instant.’
After the two Extraordinary Martial Artists left, the frigid intent lingering in the air gradually dissipated. Qin Ya casually incinerated the severed arm at his feet, then glanced in the direction they had fled. "Those two, at least they knew when to quit," he remarked coolly.
"If they didn’t run, would they just stay here for you to cut them down?"
The Ting Xiao Sword at Qin Ya’s waist quivered slightly as it spoke. Qin Ya looked at Ting Xiao pensively. "Too many people saw what you look like back on Liubo Island," he said. "To avoid trouble, I think I’ll find an Artifact Refiner to help disguise you."
"Mm, that’s a good idea."
Qin Ya found a decent dock for his Profound Vessel and went ashore. This port, Hai Kou, was part of Lieyang City, one of the three great capitals of the Hundred Cities region. The city was enormous—even larger than the Imperial Capital of the Yunxiao Empire—and its prosperity was plain to see. Calling it a sea of people would be an understatement.
What’s more, at least ninety percent of the people in the city were Martial Artists!
After entering the city, Qin Ya asked around and found an Artifact Refiner. For a steep price, he had the Ting Xiao Sword expertly disguised. Now, no one would recognize it unless he channeled his full power into it, which would shatter the illusion.
After finding a Restaurant and having a meal, Qin Ya located the largest and tallest tower in the city. It was called the Heaven-Reaching Tower and was a facility specifically for Martial Artists who needed to enter seclusion for their Cultivation. It was guarded to ensure they wouldn’t be disturbed.
Qin Ya planned to stay here for a few days to comprehend the Thunder Mysteries. More importantly, he was running low on Elixirs, especially Nourishing Spirit Pills. He had been using them up at a rapid pace while training in the Thundercloud Illusion.
He barely had any left and needed to perform some Refining.
"Young Master, how may I help you?"
As soon as he walked into the Heaven-Reaching Tower, a gracefully-figured woman in a long red robe approached him, greeting him with a sweet smile.
"It’s my first time here. Could you tell me about your services?"
Hearing this, the woman smiled. "We have thirty-six floors in total. The higher the floor, the better the Cultivation Room. If I may be so bold, Young Master, what is your Cultivation Realm? That would help me recommend a suitable room for you."
"Extraordinary," Qin Ya said coolly.
"Ah, so you’re an Extra— wait, what? Extraordinary."
The woman had been nodding, about to offer a few compliments, but the word finally registered. She cried out in surprise, drawing the attention of everyone nearby.
"What did that kid just say? That he’s an Extraordinary Martial Artist?"
"Ha! That’s ridiculous."
"Does he really think Extraordinary Martial Artists grow on trees?"
"You should at least think before you lie. That’s just absurd."
The crowd erupted in scornful laughter, shooting disdainful looks at Qin Ya.
The woman composed herself, maintaining her professional demeanor. She smiled at Qin Ya. "You must be joking, Young Master. How about this, let me explain in detail for you. The floors below the thirtieth are for those below the Extraordinary Realm. The first floor, for instance, is mainly for those in the Human Element Realm and Profound Origin Realm. The second to..."
"No need," Qin Ya interrupted the woman in red. "Just tell me how much the thirty-sixth floor costs."
His words were met with another round of mocking laughter from the crowd.
"The thirty-sixth floor? HAHA, that’s hilarious!"
"This kid’s really addicted to bragging, isn’t he? The floors above the thirtieth are all reserved for Extraordinary Martial Artists. Who does he think he is?"
"Well, I’ve seen it all today. I’ve never seen anyone bluff this hard."
