Chapter 205: Chapter 205: The Great Shark
Ying San hadn’t expected Qin Ya to withstand his attacks again and again. A flicker of annoyance grew within him. "A Martial Artist who hasn’t even reached the Extraordinary realm... I’d like to see what other tricks you have."
With a cold snort, Ying San shot towards Qin Ya.
He thrust out a palm, and black energy roiled, coalescing into a gigantic hand.
The gigantic black Palm Seal shot across the sky, stirring up massive waves on the surface of the sea. Qin Ya’s pupils contracted at the sight. With no time to dodge, he immediately retrieved a massive Eighth-Grade Profound Soldier shield from his Storage Ring and held it before him.
An icy aura surged, and the sea beneath his feet froze solid.
Qin Ya stood on the ice, his entire body huddled behind the giant shield.
BOOM...
The giant Palm Seal crashed against the massive shield with a deafening boom.
An immense force traveled through the shield. Before such power, Qin Ya felt like a helpless ant. He was sent flying.
SMACK! SMACK! SMACK!
As he was sent flying, Qin Ya’s body skipped across the surface of the water four times, each impact dissipating the momentum. He then steadied himself and continued to flee into the distance.
Moreover, he appeared completely unharmed.
Ying San raised an eyebrow when he saw this.
’He blocked my attack with the shield, negated the damage with that Pseudo-Spiritual Artifact he’s wearing, and even used the impact to speed up his escape.’ A cold glint flashed in Ying San’s eyes. "Well now," he said coolly, "to think he would use me."
To remain so calm and calculating in a life-or-death crisis...
Such a mindset was not something a mere youth should possess. This only strengthened Ying San’s resolve to kill him. ’If a genius like this is allowed to mature, he’ll become a great enemy to the Demon Race. He must die!’
Qin Ya looked down at the Eighth-Grade Shield in his hands. It was covered in cracks, with wisps of black energy still clinging to it. A chill crept into his heart. ’To damage an Eighth-Grade Profound Soldier this badly with a single palm strike... He has to be at Sky-Controlling Perfection, at least...’
’And this aura... It’s the Demon Race!’
This was what truly troubled Qin Ya. The Vast Sea Divine Palace was one of the top Sects in the Southern Domain, yet a member of the Demon Race had managed to infiltrate it. And what’s more, this demon was trying to kill him. ’Could there be other members of the Demon Race among the high-ranking officials of the Vast Sea Divine Palace?’ he wondered. ’What could his objective be?’
As he pondered, a chilling intent washed over him from behind.
In just a few moments, the old man from the Demon Race had already caught up.
’He’s this fast?’ Qin Ya gritted his teeth.
’I thought that by fusing the Great Trends of Speed and Wind, my speed wouldn’t be that much slower than an Extraordinary Strong Person’s. But the truth is, throughout this whole chase, he’s been much, much faster than me.’
"You can’t escape!"
Ying San gave a cold laugh, and with a flash, his speed surged dramatically.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of Qin Ya.
Qin Ya gritted his teeth. He didn’t stop, but continued to surge forward. He tossed aside the ruined shield, a white spear appearing in his hand.
"GET OUT OF MY WAY!"
He roared in anger as Ice Flame coiled around the spear’s shaft. Pouring out all of his True Essence without reservation, he thrust the spear forward—a strike that seemed capable of freezing everything and incinerating the world.
"Not a bad Spear Technique!"
But Ying San merely sneered. He reached out with a withered, skeletal hand and caught the spear shaft with perfect accuracy. Qin Ya was stunned. The Ice Flame immediately surged down the spear toward the old man, who just laughed coldly as black energy erupted from his body.
The intensely dense black energy instantly snuffed out the Ice Flame.
"You may have grasped a hint of the Mysterious, but how could it possibly compare to the real thing?" A cruel smile twisted Ying San’s wrinkled face. With a sharp tug, he yanked Qin Ya toward him and slammed a palm into his chest. "Now, die!"
PFFT...
Qin Ya’s body was launched high into the air, blood spraying from his mouth. The power of this palm was far greater than the one he had taken from Lan Qijin; Scenic Landscapes could not fully defend against it!
Previously, Lan Qijin hadn’t known Qin Ya possessed a Pseudo-Spiritual Artifact, so he had obviously held back, not even using thirty percent of his power in that strike.
But this demon was different. He clearly knew Qin Ya had Scenic Landscapes, and this strike contained nearly eighty percent of his power. A Celestial Essence Realm Martial Artist, even with a Pseudo-Spiritual Artifact, would have died seven or eight times over from such a blow.
"Heh, that Pseudo-Spiritual Artifact of yours is certainly formidable, but your Cultivation is too low to unleash its full power. It might be enough to fend off an ordinary Extraordinary Martial Artist, but against me, death is your only escape!"
SPLASH...
Qin Ya’s body fell into the sea, sending up a massive splash.
Pain... Qin Ya knew his internal organs had been pulverized by that strike. Blood and fragments of viscera poured from his wounds, turning the surrounding seawater crimson.
His consciousness began to fade. ’Am I going to die?’
’No, impossible!’
’How can I die at the hands of a member of the Demon Race!’
’Besides, my aunt and Ningshuang are still waiting for me!’
Using the last of his strength, Qin Ya took an Eighth-Grade Elixir from his Storage Ring. It was one of the High-Level Elixirs he had refined recently, using the countless medicinal herbs within the Vast Sea Divine Palace. As part of a deal, he had kept half of them for himself.
He opened his mouth and swallowed the elixir along with a mouthful of blood and seawater. Immediately, a vast Medicinal Power surged through his body, rapidly repairing his injuries.
The effects of an Eighth-Grade Healing Elixir were, needless to say, extraordinary. Within a few breaths, his injuries were already more than halfway healed. Yet Qin Ya didn’t surface, because he knew the demon was still waiting above.
"Hm?"
Ying San let out a soft sound of surprise, his expression one of shocked uncertainty.
’Why hasn’t the body floated up? Could he...’ Ying San was a cautious man; he had to see the body for himself. Seeing that Qin Ya hadn’t surfaced, he dove into the sea with a flash. ’He took that palm strike from me. Is it possible he isn’t dead?!’
’He’s coming down!’ Qin Ya’s expression changed.
Just then, a massive, shark-like Sea Beast swam past, its cavernous maw gaping as it lunged for him. But seeing this, a flicker of joy—not fear—appeared on Qin Ya’s face...
Ying San dived into the seawater, but he didn’t see Qin Ya’s corpse. His heart sank. His eyes swept through the water, and suddenly, he saw a huge shark in the distance, its body stained with blood, swimming rapidly away.
He could clearly see a figure on the shark’s back.
Who else could it be but Qin Ya?
’Damn it, he’s really not dead! Just how many life-saving tricks does this brat have?’ Ying San thought, grinding his teeth. Then, his expression froze. ’How could I forget? The kid is an Alchemist, Eighth Grade or higher! He must have a stash of High-Level Healing Elixirs on him. Damn it, I was careless!’
An Alchemist might lack for many things, but never for Elixirs!
Without another thought, Ying San shot towards the shark.
However, as powerful as an Extraordinary Strong Person was, their movements were still hindered in the water. The sea’s resistance drastically slowed Ying San down. The shark, on the other hand, shot through the water like an arrow.
For the time being, Ying San found himself unable to catch up to it.
