A brief silence ensued for a moment. Freya wasn’t jubilant at victory rather she harbored a deep seat of resentment and disgust towards it.

Till now, she found it unbelievable that someone tried to harm her on the Academy premises.

Blinking her eyes, she looked back only to find Talia slumping on the door.

"Huh! Where did he go?"Freya asked in shock and looked around to see Lukas dragging around the tattered corpse to one place.

"YEEWWW!"

She held her churning stomach and stepped back.

"Wh....what are you doing?"She spat in contempt asking for an answer but Lukas clearly ignored it and, amassing the corpse, took out something from the pouch.

Then he scattered it over the ground, then taking out a lighter he threw a small flame.

SWOOSH!

A large mound of fire erupted burning the place.

Talia and Freya’s expressions froze. They shivered seeing the brutality of the guy not leaving the corpse and started wondering if he was even sane.

Noticing their thoughts, Lukas shrugged his shoulders.

"Sorry, but we shouldn’t leave this corpse. Who knows if the specter was alive or it might come back to life."

In game, many specters attached to the body were easier to kill without the need of holy charm. Once a spectre takes over the body, the soul gets bound to it and it needs to go through a ritual to get over another.

So, just killing the body was enough but there have been cases where high-level specters despite being killed managed to survive. If not for the situation, he might have even taken the ashes and spread them in a different direction but if he did that now these two girls might have labeled him as a lunatic for real.

Clapping his hands, he looked at the two girls and asked, "Dont you want to go out."

The two nodded obediently.

"Then why the hell are you wasting time watching me burn things as if I were organizing a show, go and call for help. We might be in some serious trouble."

Realizing this, Talia’s expression paled, and looked around.

"Will we be really in trouble?"Talia asked again softly only to see Lukas giving an evil smile.

...

The atmosphere inside the room was suffocating, weighed down by an unspoken tension that pressed heavily on the three students.

Emilia, their homeroom teacher, sat behind her desk, her sharp eyes scanning each of them with a mix of curiosity and suspicion. The room felt eerily quiet, except for the occasional creak of her chair as she shifted, trying to process the situation.

After a moment, she folded her hands neatly on the desk and finally broke the silence. Her voice was calm, yet carried an edge that made their skin crawl.

"So, Professor Linden attacked you," Emilia began, her tone sharp. "And the blast… killed Ryan." She paused briefly, her piercing gaze making all three of them squirm. "Then…"

Her eyes darted to Lukas as she continued, "According to you, Freya took the lead and fought her. Talia helped by buying time for Freya to attack. And you were gravely injured, only waking up at the last moment to give Freya a potion that gave her the boost she needed."

Emilia leaned back in her chair, raising a brow. "So, is that it?" she asked, her voice cold and cutting.

Freya’s mouth opened, but no words came out. Her mind spun, trying to piece together what had just been said.

Talia, seated beside her, remained equally silent, her hands gripping the edge of her chair.

Freya clenched her fists under the table. Back in the dungeon, when Lukas had said he would "take care of it," she never imagined this was what he had meant by pinning the entire situation on her.

Suppressing the simmering anger rising in her chest, Freya forced herself to speak. "Miss, that’s not entirely true. He also played a very important role. He even fought against the specter."

Lukas smirked faintly and shrugged. "Oh, yeah, I played a ’vital role’ by handing over the potion," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "And as for fighting the specter, I was just beaten. Badly. Very badly, in fact. You know how weak I am, Miss Emilia—I’m only at Spark rank. Fighting a specter would have been a death wish for me."

Freya’s face twisted in frustration, and her voice rose. "He’s lying, Miss! He’s clearly downplaying what he did—"

Emilia raised a hand, silencing her. She turned to Talia, her gaze sharp and probing. "What about you, Talia? What’s your version of events?"

Talia froze, her eyes darting to Lukas. For a brief moment, she hesitated, but when she caught Lukas’s expression, she faltered.

His gaze was calm, but his eyes conveyed a silent, chilling warning like saying,’If you mess this up, I’ll make sure you’re dragged into even deeper trouble.%

Swallowing hard, Talia stammered, "Y-Yes, Lukas is correct. Miss Freya played a crucial role."

Freya shot up from her chair, her anger finally boiling over. "YOU!" she shouted, her voice trembling with fury. "What is this? What are you two trying to pull?"

Emilia sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of her nose. She didn’t react to Freya’s outburst, her eyes instead narrowing on the trio. After a long pause, she spoke.

"I see," Emilia said, her tone laced with disappointment. "I understand."

Freya’s glare turned to confusion. "Understood? What do you mean by that?" she demanded, her voice still tight with anger.

Emilia folded her arms and leaned forward. "I find it commendable that you, are giving credit to others. But…" Her voice turned cold, her words biting. "I can’t fully believe everything you’ve said. We’ll conduct an investigation before deciding on anything further."

Before Freya could respond, Lukas raised a hand. "Oh, wait a moment!" he said, rummaging through his belongings. After a few seconds, he pulled out a small device—a camera—and placed it on the desk.

Emilia frowned. "What’s this?" she asked, leaning forward.

Lukas smirked faintly. "Miss, this is a recording. It captured some of the events that happened toward the end of the dungeon."

Emilia raised a brow, her voice skeptical. "And what were you doing with a camera inside the dungeon?"

"What else?" Lukas replied casually, shrugging. "Recording and keeping evidence. Just in case someone decided to frame me for something I didn’t do."

A heavy silence followed his words.

"…" Emilia stared at him, her expression unreadable.

"…" Freya gaped, her anger giving way to disbelief.

"…" Talia shifted uncomfortably, avoiding everyone’s gaze.

Lukas simply leaned back, looking entirely too pleased with himself.
