Rick squinted his eyes at the blue-haired kid and spat, "Hey asshole know your place. Do you know in whose presence you are shouting?"

Monty also nodded and spoke with a sneer"Yeah shut up and empty your pockets or.."

Saying this, Ricky and Monty leapt ahead running forward to hit Ashton.

Ashton’s eyes stayed cold as he watched the fists flying toward him. He twisted his body slightly, just enough to let Rick’s punch slide past his face. At the same time, he stepped to the side, avoiding Monty’s swing entirely. The two bullies stumbled forward, their momentum throwing them off balance.

Before they could recover, Ashton struck. He caught Rick’s wrist, yanked him forward, and drove his knee into Rick’s stomach. A sharp gasp escaped Rick’s lips as he doubled over, pain spreading through his body.

Monty barely had time to react before Ashton turned to him. With a swift motion, Ashton kicked Monty’s knee from the side, making him stagger. Then, he twisted his hips and sent a powerful roundhouse kick straight into Monty’s chest.

The impact sent him flying backward, crashing onto the ground with a heavy thud.

Rick groaned, trying to stand, but Ashton was faster. He grabbed Rick’s collar and, with a sharp push, sent him tumbling beside Monty. The two bullies lay on the ground, gasping for breath, their eyes filled with shock and fear.

Ashton simply adjusted his jacket, his face unreadable. "Next time, pick someone else," he said calmly before turning away, leaving them sprawled on the pavement.

"ENOUGH!"

Henson image blurred as he moved leaving afterimages alarming Ashton who assumed a fighting stance.

BANG!

Two loud bangs echoed as Henson punched but to everyone’s surprise, the one who was at the receiving end of the punch was none other than his sidekick.

"Shut up, idiots. Who asked you to run your mouth?"Henson roared at the top of his lungs and then stared back at Ashton.

"You, why are you interfering here?"

"And why are you abusing your seniority?"Ashton eyed him coldly and warned him, "I am warning you. Stop this or else you will face grave repercussions. I have proof of your abuse and I can use it to suspend you. It won’t reflect well on Smith will it?"

Rick was about to open his lips but Henson’s glare made him shut up.

Henson looked at everyone. Despite the anger, he restrained himself from pondering over the matter deeply.

The Grim house still maintained its glory after the passing of the Lord because the Madam of Grim was a Eclipse rank.

Let’s talk back today. I will surely get changes soon to straighten you up.’

"Let’s go!"Henson, after giving everyone an angry eye, walked around while staring at Ashton venomously.

"Ashton Grim...It’s better if you know your place. Not every time your noble status would save you."

But before parting, he didn’t forget to send a warning.

........

Slowly everyone dispersed, and soon the place became empty except for the two individuals.

"I guess you wanted to ask something," I asked, seeing Ashton gazing at me deeply.

Ashton’s face flustered a bit and he scratched his cheek. A usual behavior of his when he feels embarrassed.

"Was it that obvious?"

"Yes!"

"I just want to know why all of you don’t fight back. I mean if you all unite then you can overwhelm him."

I looked at the wall and gazed at the greenery outside letting my hair sway in the air as I spoke, "You ask this despite knowing the answer."

I raised my brows, giving Ashton a serious look, "Those at the lower standing already had their pride crushed and fear of pain had been engrained deep within them to act."

"Then what about you? You seem different," Ashton asked, taking a step closer towards me.

"It’s troublesome."

"Troublesome?"Ashton tilted his gaze in question.

"Do you think he alone is doing this thing?"

Ashton’s eyes narrowed upon hearing this.

"You don’t know, do you?"I laughed at his naivety.

"There are many here who use the authority to suppress us. They are close to an intricate web and if I cut strings of one, others will follow it and I am simply not strong enough to enact my revenge now but..."I smiled lightly and looked at the sky.

"Time will change, so will our position and at that time, I will enact my revenge and let them suffer worse than I have."

Ashton fell silent and spoke with a slight hesitation.

"Your thought seems mature. I mean I don’t think I can hold onto such injustice and suffering."

Hearing this, I laughed, "It’s because you haven’t seen the world enough. You haven’t suffered enough pain and don’t have enough experience."

Before the incident where Ashton killed for the first time in his life that was a few weeks before the Academy, he was quite a shelter kid due to his mother’s overwhelming protection.

For him, the world was a beautiful place until he was exposed to the veil for the first time.

The reader and gamers of Gen Z are a different breed of monster who partakes in the joy and suffering of others. Committing crimes and destroying other lives in the name of humor.

For such people, cold-blooded, anti-hero antagonists were revered but have they ever considered how they came to this?

What circumstances led the protagonist to become like this?

The breaking point of everything brings old pain that won’t let you sleep in the deep night and won’t let you live in brighter sunlight.

That’s how he had been feeling when Ashton saw someone close to him getting humiliated and torn to shreds.

"Your eyes, it looks like someone trapped in guilt."

"Huh!" Ashton squealed, taking a step back.

"I..I.."

"No need to make excuses, I can read everything from your expression."

"What! Dont lie. You don’t know anything?"He screamed flustered by the sudden shift but I didn’t cower rather I stepped forward.

"I know everything. I am experienced enough to tell what you are going through."I lied with a straight expression.

Ashton’s fate is distorted and he looks at him angrily.

"You are quite good at jok...

"You are having a nightmare," I said, cutting him off.

"The nightmare stems from guilt from past events. Since you are famous and the incident of you wiping out bandits has been spread, I assume it has something to do with that."

Ashton opened his lips to refute but closed his lips immediately.

I took his silence as a sign of acceptance so I spoke further.

"You feel guilt because you think what you did wasn’t right and your deeds have devastated the lives of many."

As I spoke Ashton’s eyes flickered with disbelief.
