Chapter 51: A Pest Infestation
"Galen! Let go of her this instant!"
Lyra screamed while stepping forward, and Rita’s blood-red eyes shifted from the choking Galen to look down at Lyra. And the moment Lyra saw who it was, she took a step back in shock!
"Rita?"
Lyra couldn’t stop her shock from showing, and the only thought in her head at that moment was how in the world this woman was still alive! Rita’s story was one of the most popular ones in the vampire world! Rita had been hailed as a prodigy from a young age, and she was seen as an extremely talented child! For the longest time, everyone believed she would grow up to become one of the strongest soldiers in the military, but Rita never managed to live up to her potential.
From the rumors that travelled around, the main reason for this was because she was held back by her family, who scorned her. Her stepmother and stepsisters treated her like a cancer, and they did everything they could to sabotage her progress.
The last thing anyone heard about Rita was that the castle where she lived had been attacked and her mother was killed. Rita had been captured by the Horox faction as a prisoner of war, and rather than being rescued, she was abandoned by her family since they didn’t see her as someone worth losing soldiers over.
Everyone believed that Rita had died when the Horox Faction was attacked by the mysterious mage, so what in the world was she doing here!?
"Grk!"
Galen was still being choked out by Rita, and no matter how much she struggled, Galen couldn’t break away from Rita’s powerful grip. Rita looked around at the three vampires, and she spoke to Percy in a low, dangerous tone.
"Babe, it seems we have a pest infestation in our library. Shall I get rid of them?"
Percy just waved his hand to tell Rita to stop.
"There’s no need for that. They were actually just leaving."
Rita narrowed her eyes angrily while glaring into Galen’s terrified gaze, and Rita finally huffed and threw the vampire woman off the balcony! Galen fell for two stories and crashed to the floor before she held her throat in pain and began coughing desperately! Galen struggled for air, and Tiran appeared from the side and quickly went to a knee to help her!
Lyra was still looking up at Rita like she was seeing a ghost, and Rita turned to Lyra and spoke with a sneer.
"What are you looking at, you worm?"
Lyra’s gaze hardened!
"I am a general in the Ashton army. You will be wise to show some respect."
"The Ashton? Why am I not surprised? You bastards have always been opportunistic parasites. You come in, and you consume everything without leaving anything behind. But I won’t let you desecrate the home I have made for myself. Get out of our library before I lose my temper. And if I ever see you in here again, I will rip your heart out."
Rita’s eyes glowed with an intense red light as her aura flared to life, and Lyra’s eyes widened when she realized that Rita’s aura was stronger than her own! Rita had grown higher than the Sixth Realm!
Lyra knew in that moment that she couldn’t defeat Rita even if she wanted to, and she decided that it would be wise to simply step back and come up with a new plan.
"Tiran, help Galen. We’re leaving."
Lyra turned and began walking out of the library, and Tiran put his hand around Galen’s shoulder and helped her to stand so they could leave as well.
Outside the library, there were multiple students walking around as they headed towards their classes from the dorms, and some of them glanced towards the beautiful Lyra once they saw her leaving the library! The students had never seen Lyra before, but they could all tell that she was somehow related to Rita the librarian since she had the same pale skin and beautiful appearance! Lyra ignored the students, and she was about to activate a teleportation circle, but she glanced to the side and noticed a carriage heading towards the library. The carriage looked ordinary, but Lyra narrowed her eyes when she saw that the man driving the carriage had a golden badge attached to his chest.
’Some sort of noble?’
"General, aren’t we leaving?"
Tiran spoke up from the side when he noticed that Lyra wasn’t moving, and Lyra narrowed her eyes at the carriage one last time before she activated a teleportation circle and transported them out of the academy.
Once the vampires left, a brown-haired girl came down from the carriage, and she quickly ran into the library with her rabbit maid following behind her!
"PERCY!"
Princess Vivian’s loud voice echoed through the library once she entered, and she ran towards the librarian’s desk with a glowing smile on her face! Percy grinned when he saw the princess and spoke to her in a pleasant voice.
"Hello, princess. What can I do for you today?"
"We’re going on a date! Are you ready!?"
Vivian exclaimed happily, and Percy couldn’t stop himself from chuckling at her enthusiasm. Percy had promised to spend the morning with Vivian today since Rita offered to look after the library, and Percy could tell that Vivian was really excited about it.
Percy glanced to the side to see Rita walking up to them, and he watched her expression to see if she was still pissed off about the vampires. It was rare to see Rita angry, but whenever she lost her temper, she could become really scary.
But Percy was glad when he saw that Rita was no longer angry. Rita smiled and reached out to pinch Vivian’s cheek.
"Hello, Vivian. I see you’ve come to take ’my’ Percy on a date."
"Owowowow! That hurts, Rita~!"
Vivian cried out while holding Rita’s arm, and Vivian’s maid looked frantic as she tried to hold herself back from saying something! Fio had learned quickly that Rita didn’t care about Vivian’s status after yesterday’s meeting, and the best Fio could hope for was that Rita wouldn’t hurt the princess’ beautiful skin!
Rita eventually let Vivian go, and she patted the head of the shorter girl and asked her what she had planned for the outing.
Vivian’s face brightened as she quickly began to list the many attractions in the city! Vivian had been awake all night yesterday planning this outing, so she knew everything that she wanted to do!
"... then we’ll go to the circus on the other side of the city, and we’ll visit the Colosseum to see some magic battles! And then... uhm, we’ll go back to my room so Percy can help me with... something."
At this point, Vivian’s cheeks reddened, and she put both hands over her mouth like she was whispering a dirty secret to someone, and Rita’s eyes twitched as she grabbed Vivian’s cheek and pulled it again!
"Don’t you dare take Percy anywhere near your room, you understand?"
"Muuu~! That hurts, Rita~!"
Percy just chuckled from behind the girls as he came around the librarian’s desk, and Rita finally let go of Vivian as Percy put his hand around Rita’s waist and gave her a soft kiss.
"I’ll be back soon, babe."
Rita nodded to Percy’s words, and she helped him to pat down his robe before she smiled.
"I’ll look after things while you’re gone. But try not to have too much fun without me, okay?"
Percy chuckled, and he told Rita that he would try.
