Chapter 2431: Chapter 2430: Found It
As night fell, a campfire lit up in the forest by the lake, where Ling Feng and Feiyan sat by the shore, gazing at the water and starlit sky, enjoying the peace of their world for two.
Ling Feng took the opportunity to answer some of Feiyan’s curious questions about how he received his inheritance and step by step reached where he was today.
The night passed peacefully, with the two of them chatting and barely sleeping.
As dawn broke, Ling Feng and Feiyan huddled together, dozing off for a short while.
Soon, they were awakened by the sound of Little Sha rushing over.
Seeing it, Ling Feng asked, "What’s going on?"
"Master, my subordinates have found what you were looking for!" Little Sha said.
"Really? Where is it?" Ling Feng immediately stood up.
"Not far from here, I can take you there," Little Sha said.
"Alright, let’s go!"
Ling Feng spoke at once.
"Let me put on some clothes, I’ll be right there!"
Feiyan quickly got up and rushed into the tent.
Soon she emerged dressed, and followed Ling Feng along with Little Sha, leaving the oasis.
Little Sha was extremely fast in the desert, while Ling Feng and Feiyan could fly in the air, so they easily kept up, quickly covering several kilometers.
Ahead, a massive sand dune suddenly appeared, and Little Sha said, "Master, it’s at the higher point over there!"
"Got it."
Ling Feng and Feiyan swiftly flew over and landed at the foot of the sand dune.
"There’s a space inside here, artifically constructed. My subordinates tried to get in but it’s too solid, so they couldn’t succeed," Little Sha said.
"It’s okay, you’ve done well enough."
Ling Feng nodded, then said, "You can let them rest now, and you can go back to Jade Token Space."
"You don’t need my help?" Little Sha asked.
"No need, you can stay and watch if you don’t want to go back."
Ling Feng said, calling out Jin Gang.
At this time, the horizon lit up, with the sun not yet risen, the air was still quite cool.
Jin Gang appeared, and Ling Feng said to him, "Help me clear this sand dune, I want to access the space underneath it."
"Understood, Master."
Jin Gang nodded and crouched down to start digging through the sand.
His massive size allowed one handful of sand to equal that of an excavator, quickly clearing a significant portion of sand around the dune.
After a few minutes, a rectangular building with no windows or doors was revealed.
The structure was over five meters high and over ten meters long and wide, providing more than a hundred square meters of space inside.
Under Jin Gang’s clearing, the full appearance of the structure gradually emerged, leaving Yang Guang and Feiyan stunned.
Judging by appearance alone, it seemed like a massive solid concrete block.
However, Little Sha informed Ling Feng that it wasn’t solid inside.
Confronted with something without any entrance, Ling Feng was puzzled, unsure how to gain entry.
After some thought, he took out the God Slayer Saber and asked, "Help me see if you can carve an entrance."
"Alright!"
The God Slayer Saber spoke, with white light shining on its blade, then it flew out.
Quickly, the blade pierced through the wall of the structure.
Seeing this, Ling Feng felt relieved at heart!
The outer rough and hard wall, under the God Slayer Saber’s blade, was like tofu, easily sliced open.
Next, it cut vertically, creating an opening large enough for a person to enter.
Inside was pitch black; Ling Feng shone his flashlight in, immediately spotting a rectangular black wooden box on the ground.
Seeing its length and width, it seemed very similar to a coffin used on Earth after someone has died. Ling Feng excitedly turned to Feiyan and said, "We’ve found it!"
"Shall we go in and take a look?" Feiyan suggested.
"Yes!"
Ling Feng nodded and stepped into the space.
Feiyan quickly followed, and upon entering, they found that besides the black box, there was nothing else inside the space.
All six surfaces were smooth, with no indication of how they were made.
"Amazing, the outside is an outer coffin!" Ling Feng said.
"What’s that?"
Feiyan asked.
"It’s a protective shell for the coffin."
Ling Feng replied, stepping next to the black box, "There must be a corpse inside, but whether it’s Mu Di remains unknown."
"Could there be other bodies in the desert? It must be him!" Feiyan insisted.
Ling Feng agreed, "I hope so."
With that, he squatted down, attempting to open the wooden box.
The lid wasn’t nailed down, just placed on top, so Ling Feng easily lifted it off.
Then they saw a middle-aged man lying inside.
The man’s complexion was pallid—a telltale sign of a body.
However, his appearance suggested he hadn’t been dead long, showing no trace of enduring the ravages of centuries.
Ling Feng couldn’t help but doubt, glancing at Feiyan, "A thousand years have passed, yet he looks like this?"
"Perhaps it’s the coffin’s protective effect?" Feiyan speculated.
"Possibly."
Ling Feng nodded and continued, "The Elder’s request was to bring back the body, but let’s not rush. Let me check what he has on him first!"
With that, his hand reached inside.
Through some probing, Ling Feng discovered something cool beneath the neck of the body.
Taking it out, he found it to be a rectangular object, resembling carved jade, with some patterns and a few unfamiliar characters.
Though Ling Feng didn’t recognize them, Feiyan did and somberly stated, "This is Mu Di’s belonging, it bears his name!"
"Excellent!"
Ling Feng nodded upon hearing this, and continued, "With that, my mission is accomplished!"
However, he didn’t store the body immediately; instead, he carefully examined it and found three different colored rings on Mu Di’s hand.
"There are no grave goods; perhaps they are all inside here!"
Ling Feng removed the three rings, playing with them while speaking.
Feiyan, intrigued, moved closer to look, "Are these spatial equipment? What’s inside?"
"We’ll find out soon."
Ling Feng smiled, his mind instantly infiltrating one of the rings.
Then he was stunned.
Because indeed, there were things inside the ring!
But to Ling Feng’s shock, it contained nothing but corpses!
Body after body lay there, presenting a truly terrifying scene!
Stunned, he refrained from mentioning it to Feiyan to spare her discomfort, and then began inspecting the second ring.
