Chapter 2426: Chapter 2425: Entering the Desert

Regarding the Desert Sea, Feiyan didn’t know much. She only knew such a place existed, but had never been there.

So the two of them were blindly flying westward without any clear destination, not knowing how long it would take to arrive.

After flying for an entire morning and still seeing only alternating jungle and grassland below, Ling Feng started to feel a bit confused.

Then the two landed and took a short rest.

During the break, when they talked about the mission’s target, Feiyan felt that this time it would probably be extremely difficult. After all, if it could be found easily, they wouldn’t have had to wait this long.

Ling Feng didn’t have much confidence either, only thinking that if there were insects in the Desert Sea, things might be easier.

That way he could rely on Little Fei’s ability to control insects to search.

But if there weren’t, searching would be like looking for a needle in the ocean—almost zero chance.

After resting for a bit, the two rose into the air and flew westward again. Only when the sky was getting late did a streak of golden color finally appear on the horizon!

Under the setting sun that color became incredibly dazzling and especially eye‑catching, like a golden edge between heaven and earth.

Ling Feng and Feiyan exchanged a glance, then immediately sped up and flew toward it.

As that golden edge slowly widened, by the time they reached the edge of the Desert Sea, everywhere within sight was a vast expanse of golden sand.

The desert was made entirely of sand; not a single large rock could be found, just fine sand everywhere.

Ling Feng and Feiyan landed. Seeing the sun about to tilt west, they decided not to head deeper into the desert, planning to rest and leave it for tomorrow.

After trying it out, they found that Divine Sense still couldn’t be used here. Ling Feng had no choice but to summon Little Fei and have it try to see if there were any traces of insects nearby.

At the same time, Ling Feng took out the tent, sleeping bags, and other gear, and he and Feiyan set up their camp.

Once they were done, Little Fei brought Ling Feng good news: there were insects in this desert!

Don’t be fooled by the endless yellow sand—its thickness actually wasn’t great. The shallowest spots were only a dozen centimeters, and even the deeper places were just over a meter.

This surprised Ling Feng greatly; he’d thought the sand layer in the Desert Sea would be extremely deep.

He hadn’t expected it to be like this.

So he immediately said to Little Fei, "Since that’s the case, start gathering insects right away. The more the better. Tomorrow morning we’ll move out and conduct a carpet‑style search of this place!"

"Understood, Master."

Little Fei replied, then immediately beat its wings and flew high, heading into the depths of the desert.

Feiyan was still inside the tent making the bed. Since their relationship had already broken through, they no longer needed to sleep separately, so this was a large tent that could fit two people.

Watching her busy figure, a wave of warmth rose in Ling Feng’s heart. He smiled and took out the grill and other things.

Under Ling Feng’s influence, Feiyan had rekindled her interest in food and was very fond of his grilled meat, so this was the perfect chance to give her a good treat.

The two busied themselves with their own tasks. After Feiyan finished the bedding, she came out and quietly sat beside Ling Feng, her eyes full of tenderness.

The sun slipped below the horizon, and with its light withdrawn, the land dimmed, gaining a desolate sort of beauty.

The two sat by the fire, admiring the desert’s unique scenery while also savoring the food.

"Once the sun sets, the desert temperature will drop rapidly. It might be a bit cold tonight," Feiyan said.

Ling Feng gave a low "mm," then smiled. "It’s fine. If you feel cold, you can burrow into my arms."

Feiyan was taken aback, then her face flushed slightly, but she still nodded.

The atmosphere at that moment was incredibly warm. Ling Feng pushed everything else from his mind, wanting only to quietly enjoy this feeling.

When it grew late, Ling Feng stood up, took Feiyan’s hand, and led her into the tent.

Although their relationship had already crossed that line, Feiyan’s cheeks were still rosy, her shyness unabated.

And that look only made Ling Feng like her all the more.

Once they entered the tent and pulled the zipper shut, it became an enclosed private space.

The firelight outside barely seeped in, making the atmosphere inside the tent especially ambiguous.

The two were sitting, and looking at Feiyan’s pretty face, Yang Guang’s heartbeat couldn’t help but quicken.

Meeting his gaze, Feiyan found herself unable to bear it. At last she let out a soft whimper and threw herself into his arms of her own accord!

........

...

After a bout of tenderness, it was already midnight.

The two of them were snuggled together in the tent, not yet asleep.

Outside, the sound of wind gradually began to pick up.

Ling Feng listened carefully for a while and felt the wind wasn’t too strong, unlikely to be dangerous. He then kissed Feiyan’s forehead and whispered, "Get some rest early."

"Mm....."

Feiyan nodded and closed her eyes, content.

Ling Feng didn’t fall asleep right away. He watched her face for a while, his heart filled with nothing but satisfaction.

He didn’t know how much time had passed when the wind outside suddenly grew stronger, gradually turning into a howling gale. Ling Feng’s brows furrowed slightly. What’s going on—are deserts usually like this?

"Could it be a sandstorm?"

Ling Feng muttered, gently loosening his arm from around Feiyan’s shoulders. Then he quietly unzipped the tent and stepped out.

Out here on the wasteland, there was no need to worry about being seen, so he went out naked, not a single piece of clothing on.

When he stepped outside and glanced around, Ling Feng froze for a moment.

He saw a glow in the desert, bright red and apparently illuminating an area of dozens of square kilometers.

That red light was somewhat eerie, making a sense of fear rise from the bottom of one’s heart, as if something ghostly was about to happen.

As the wind grew stronger, the fine sand was lifted and rolled by it, forming curtains of drifting smoke, which only made the scene look even more mysterious and uncanny!

"Little Fei?"

Ling Feng looked around and called out in his mind.

"I’m here, Master."

At Little Fei’s voice, its body burrowed out from a nearby sand mound.

Ling Feng hadn’t expected it to be there. He paused and asked, "Did you see that? What’s going on with the light in the desert?"

"I saw it. That’s a giant beast exhaling and inhaling its inner core," Little Fei said.

"Oh?"

Ling Feng’s brows rose. He quickly asked, "What kind of giant beast can emit such intense light? Is its cultivation very deep?"

"Yes, Master. It’s a sand scorpion that has awakened its Beast Soul," Little Fei said.

"Oh, aren’t scorpions insects too? Can you control it?" Ling Feng hurriedly asked.

"No. Its rank is higher than mine. I don’t have that ability," Little Fei said.

"All right then."

Hearing that, Ling Feng could only shake his head, then said, "In that case, we’ll just wipe it out!"
