Chapter 2405: Chapter 2404: Interrogation
It was late at night, and the office building over there was pitch-black.
It was a standalone three-story building, and with a sweep of his Divine Sense, Ling Feng instantly had a clear picture of the environment and structure inside.
Turned out this place didn’t just have three floors above ground, it actually had two more underground!
One of them was an underground parking lot, while the very bottom floor was a massive office.
Right now the lights there were blazing, but there were only seven or eight people inside.
After locking onto them with his Divine Sense, Ling Feng pulled Ah Min into a hidden spot and told her what he’d found.
After hearing him out, Ah Min suggested, "Boss, we’d better not act yet. Let’s observe first. At this hour, the real mastermind has probably already gone home!"
"You mean wait until work time tomorrow?" Ling Feng asked.
"Mm, that’s the only way to catch them all in one net!"
Ah Min said, then chuckled, "Don’t worry about me. I’m fine staying here for a whole night, I can handle it!"
Ling Feng smiled, "Being able to handle it is one thing, but I don’t want you suffering. Actually, we can sneak in right now, and tomorrow morning just wait here like a hunter by the stump. Whoever shows up, we nab them!"
"Hm? That works too!"
Ah Min’s eyes lit up at that, and she hurriedly nodded. "As long as we take precautions and don’t let them send out any emergency signals."
"Don’t worry about that, I’ve got a way!"
Ling Feng smiled, then said, "You go into the Jade Pendant first. Once I’m inside, I’ll bring you out again!"
"Okay!"
Ah Min said, and her figure vanished in an instant.
Ling Feng drew the God Slayer Saber, lifted the manhole cover in a dark alley, and then jumped down.
Little Hei was summoned out and quickly dug a tunnel underground, leading straight to the bottom of that basement.
When there was about one meter of thickness left, Ling Feng had it stop, then took out Kai Tian and dug twice himself, before leaping up and blasting through the last few dozen centimeters.
The people in the basement were working nervously, with no idea the floor beneath them was cracking open!
Even less did they expect that someone would jump up from underground right after!
By the time they saw that the person who’d come was Ling Feng, it was already too late.
Their vision went black, and they lost consciousness on the spot.
Ling Feng swept his gaze around the room with a cold smile. With the activation of his Mind Soul Art just now, everyone here had been taken down.
The security measures in this basement were top-notch, but there was no alarm system at all, and communication with the outside world relied entirely on the internal network, so nothing had a chance to get out.
After Ah Min appeared, the first thing she did was look around at the surroundings, then said, "There’s no surveillance here."
"Mm, then let’s check what they’ve got on their computers first," Ling Feng said.
"Got it!"
Ah Min nodded. This wasn’t her first time doing this kind of thing with Ling Feng; she was practically a veteran. She immediately picked a computer, then took out her own laptop.
Meanwhile, Ling Feng walked a circle around the room and found a guy with blond hair and glasses. He got the feeling this one was the bookworm type—people whose mental defenses were usually very fragile and easy to deal with.
He first set the man on a chair, then tapped a few of his acupoints before waking him up.
The young man slowly came to, reached out wanting to rub his groggy head, and then froze when he realized he couldn’t move at all.
He raised his head and saw Ling Feng’s half-smiling eyes, his pupils shrank, and he opened his mouth to shout—only to find no sound came out.
"Don’t panic. I hit your acupoints, so you can’t move or speak."
Ling Feng said this to him in English, then continued, "I need to ask you some questions now. If you can cooperate, blink. If you can’t, then forget it."
The young man’s eyes hesitated. His eyeballs rolled a few times before he blinked hard.
Seeing this, Ling Feng nodded. "Good. You’ve seen what I can do, so you’d better cooperate from here on out, or the consequences will be very serious!"
The young man shuddered at that and immediately blinked again.
Only then did Ling Feng reach out and release his acupoints.
The first thing the young man did was take a deep breath, then he asked, "Mr. Ling, w-why are you here?"
"You can’t guess?"
Ling Feng let out a cold laugh and stared into his eyes. "Given that you’re seeing me, you should immediately be able to figure out why I came!"
The young man’s eyes were full of confusion. He shook his head. "I...I really can’t."
"Then let me give you a hint."
The corner of Ling Feng’s mouth curled up. "It has to do with an operation you’re running right now. Over in Southeast Asia."
"Uh..."
The young man was still blank-faced. "I don’t know what you’re talking about. Our projects here are compartmentalized. Everyone’s responsible for their own work, and we’re not allowed to discuss content with each other!"
"Is that so?"
Ling Feng looked him over and put a hand on his shoulder. "Lying to me carries very serious consequences. You’re not lying?"
The moment he asked that, he knew the young man wasn’t.
Right now the guy’s mind was a complete blank; he really had no idea what was going on.
Seeing this, Ling Feng could only sigh, then asked, "All right then, tell me about the organizational structure here—who’s in charge, and the member info for each group!"
"I—I’m just an intel analyst. I don’t know much about the higher-ups!" the young man said.
Ling Feng frowned. "So what you’re saying is, you’re completely useless to me?"
"No, no, no!"
The man was stunned at once and rushed to say, "I’m useful! I can tell you about a project I’m working on right now!"
"What is it?" Ling Feng asked in a deep voice.
"It’s the God Slayer Plan, a cyborg super-project the American government is running!" the young man said.
"Oh?"
Ling Feng frowned. "What cyborg plan? Be more specific."
"This is a newly established project. The goal is to create a batch of cyborgs with extremely strong physical capabilities and agility, along with various special abilities, like using flames, using ice, or Invisibility," the young man said.
Ling Feng let out an "oh," then sneered. "Isn’t that just those mutant movies? X-Men?"
"Those are made-up for movies. What we’re implementing is real. So far, ten cyborgs have passed testing and are undergoing further enhancement," the young man said.
"And what’s the ultimate goal of this project?" Ling Feng asked.
"To create one thousand cyborgs, then control the top levels of governments around the world and let America reclaim its position as the world’s strongest power!" the young man said.
"Damn, still up to your old tricks!"
Ling Feng frowned and asked in a deep voice, "What’s the force behind Joseph?"
