Chapter 15: Assaulted!

-----

After leaving the training room, Theon headed for the ground floor using the same elevator that brought him up.

’I guess I left the training hall quite late.’ his eyes scanned the empty ground floor. Not student could be seen, making the large room feel quieter than it already was

His gaze then shifted to the large counter, and he sighed helplessly. ’I really don’t want to meet that weirdly lazy woman—’ he looked down at the weirdly shaped key in his palm. ’But I have no choice now, do I?’

He slowly walked over to the counter. The other receptionists smiled politely at him as he passed by.

Then he saw her— Rebecca was still in the same position from when he went to train. She was still sleeping. Infact, it almost looked like she hadn’t moved since he left.

He stared at her hesitantly, before exhaling softly and tapping her on her back.

Once more, she flinched and shot upward, a bead of what could only be saliva, rolling down the side of her mouth.

"What? Is it closing time already?" She asked, still slightly in a daze from waking up abruptly.

"Erhmm, No—" Theon said awkwardly, then dropped the key on the counter table. "I’m done with the training room, so I came to return this."

Rebecca’s eyes cleared slightly as she looked Theon up and down with an unreadable expression. "Ohh!! The weird kid."

Theon eyed her with a stunned expression. Out of everyone he knew, she was the least person on the list that had the right of calling people weird.

Of course, he didn’t say that aloud. He didn’t want to risk offending the weirdly lazy receptionist.

"This is the second time your disturbing my sleep." She groaned as she collected the key.

"You’re the one who gave me," Theon exhaled. "I had to return it to you." He said, putting more emphasis on the final word.

Rebecca slowly squinted her eyes, then waved him off. "You can go now! I need to get back to my sleep. I was having the most amazing dream before SOMEONE interrupted."

Theon looked at her irridiculously, then bowed his head slightly before walking off to the large entrance door of the training hall.

As he walked off, Rebecca’s expression became more serious as she looked at the tablet beside her.

"He was able to defeat ten E-ranks at hard level difficulty, as well as Five D-ranks at medium difficulty." She pondered quietly. "He is an incredible student, I will give him that—"

She grabbed the tablet, and swiped the screen softly. The information on the tablet changed, and a picture of Theon’s ID card was displayed on the screen.

"So why are they still grading such a student as an F-Rank." She muttered as she squinted her eyes softly.

"Lily!" Rebecca called out, and the receptionist from before that had been scolding her about sleeping around rushed over.

"Yes, Lady Rebecca." She said, her head bowed slightly as though she was paying respect. Her entire tone seemed different from when she addressed Rebecca before.

Rebecca swiped the tablet once more, and a feed of when Theon had walked into the training hall appeared. "I want you to keep an eye on this student." She ordered, pointing at Theon. "Report to me whenever he comes back here."

"Yes ma’am—" Lily bowed down once more.

"Are you going somewhere?" Lily asked with raised eyebrows.

"Ahh, yes I am," She said softly as a pair of round glasses materialized around her eyes. Her hair which was once black, slowly changed into a soft, light blue color, while her eyes changed into a dark crimson hue.

A wave of essence suddenly erupted around her. The receptionist uniform she once wore burned away as it was slowly being replaced by a dark dress that clung tightly to her body displays her well shaped, hourglass body.

She had suddenly transformed from a disheveled-looking receptionist, to a heaven-sent saint. Her aura alone seemed to send shivers down the bodies of the other receptionists at the counter.

"I’m going to go and see the director." She grinned, before her essence erupted once more and then— she disappeared.

Meanwhile, oblivious of the chaos his little training was brooding, Theon walked slowly on the concrete road of the academy.

The skies where already slightly dark, and the concrete road was only illuminated by the crystal empowered street-liggts that lined both sides of the road. Only a few students could be seen around the campus, but none of that concerned Theon as his mind was on a completely different matter.

"It’s already way past the time I’m supposed to meet with Adrian—" he muttered to himself. "But if I don’t see him today—" he clenched his fist. "Then I might not get another opportunity like this to be able to find out whether he was the one who murdered me."

After his confrontation with Adrian, he scanned through his memories once more as he couldn’t fully remember who Adrian was. In fact, it almost felt like Theon’s memories of Adrian had been forcefully suppressed.

Of course, he was later able to view the memories but what he saw sickened him.

Adrian was of course, one of the many people who bullied Theon. But it wasn’t the bullying itself that angered him, but Adrian’s sick approach of bullying Theon specifically.

The first time Theon met Adrian was when he was being bullied by some other first years, luckily Adrian came and rescued him— easily defeating the group of First years.

Adrian, was nice— almost too nice in fact, and so— Theon fell for his act, not knowing the sick demon that hid within him.

Adrian grew extremely close to Theon, so close that Theon began to consider him as a true friend.

Theon told Adrian about how he was an orphan whose parents died at a young age. His parents weren’t rich, and so they left him nothing.

The orphanage that took him in only provided food and a place to live, but nothing else.

It was safe to say that Theon struggled financially.

On hearing this, Adrian, being the good friend that he was offered to lend Theon some money.

Theon was hesitant at first, but after much persuasion on Adrian’s side, he finally accepted the money. And that was when Theon’s hell began.

It was like Adrian had changed overnight. He suddenly started asking for the money after Theon had squandered everything, settling his debts.

Theon had no way of paying back of course, and like the true demon he was, Adrian began beating Theon, to the point of death in fact, before healing him and sending him back to his dorms.

As time passes, it only grew worse. He would call Theon to a secluded location and torture him with his sick group of friends. Sometimes they would feed Theon poison, and watch writhe in pain while laughing their asses off.

Other times, they would slowly break his fingers, or his limbs, before healing them and repeating the same process till they grew bored.

Why Theon never reported this, well firstly ut was because Adrian always healed Theon to peak condition before sending him off, so he never had proof even if he wanted to report.

Secondly, it was because Adrian threatened to brutally kill each and every one of his friends if he ever muttered a word to anyone.

Theon of course, being the caring human he was chose to shoulder everything alone.

"That sick bastard." Theon gritted his teeth, as he suddenly halted in front of a large building. It was in a secluded part of the academy, separate from all the other buildings and facilities, located at the edge of the academy where one would see or hear what was happening.

Theon’s eyes glowed dangerousky as he stared at the building. "I will get my answers today— one way or another." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

He took a single step forward, then suddenly—

WHAM

He felt something incredibly heavy slam into the back of his head with great force.

"W-What the—" he managed to mutter as he fell forward, his eyes slowly darkening as he lost consciousness.
