Chapter 235: Leaving the Capital City
"We’re finally done here." Auric smiled, looking at the store he had just closed. Even though only two weeks had passed, it felt like a very long time.
Still, he finally finished everything he needed to do in this city.
"It’s time to go home." Auric had already missed his home, considering he hadn’t been back for three weeks.
Auric turned to Katarina and said with a smile, "Thank you for helping me, Katarina."
"Not at all. I actually enjoyed this a lot. Besides, I learned a lot from you." Katarina knew that without Auric, she wouldn’t figure out a way to improve her bullets.
But now that creating composite bullets could be done, her path widened. There was no need for her to worry about her progression for a while.
"If you need anything, you can call me." Katarina winked playfully while taking out her phone.
Auric chuckled. "I will if there’s an opportunity."
"I hope we will meet again in the future." Katarina extended her hand.
"Yes. I’m looking forward to it." Auric nodded and shook her hand. Katarina hadn’t done much, but that wasn’t because Katarina wasn’t willing to help. It was because Auric kept rejecting her help.
She would be able to do a lot more if she were given a chance, but Auric didn’t really want to owe someone due to his principles.
"Let’s go." Auric turned to Milinda.
Milinda nodded and walked to the car.
Katarina waved goodbye until the car left the vicinity. Although it had only been two weeks, the experience she gained far exceeded that time.
Katarina looked at her own clothes before muttering, "Well, I feel a bit reluctant to part with this maid uniform. As expected, I should really pick this up as a hobby. Maybe I should also learn how to sew."
Katarina looked surprised at first, before chuckling. "Well, sounds fun enough. Just during my free time, though."
She shrugged and got a taxi to go home.
At the airport, the rest of the group was already waiting.
"Yo, isn’t this the famous master?" Arina smirked.
Auric shook his head helplessly. "Now, even you are teasing me."
"You bastard. You have been so busy that you haven’t had much time to spend with us!" Tommi pointed at Auric and complained.
"Sorry, sorry." Auric scratched the back of his head.
"You should have told me if you’re going to make a big fuss of it. I would have done it together with you. Just imagine that a national prospect also denied the university; it would have created a bigger mess." Tommi grinned.
"You shouldn’t do that. Your reputation is on the line."
"What are you talking about? I have cut the sponsorship agreement with that governor, you know?! I asked him to support you as well, but he didn’t." Tommi snorted.
"What? You really did that?" Auric widened his eyes.
"Yeah. I told him that ever since I met you during that mission. But because of the mess you created a few days ago, the process accelerated. I’m now free from that blind governor." Tommi harrumphed.
"But without that support..." Auric narrowed his eyes.
"Because you haven’t hung out with us, you don’t know about that." Tommi grinned. "You know Ruka, right?"
"Yes. What about her?"
"Her element can’t do anything against me. Her family is worried about it because I’m the only one who can completely bully her. After learning about me cutting the governor’s support, they came to me two days ago. The only condition was that I support her within my limits and not bully her. So, I accepted."
"No, no. That kind of support has another meaning." Auric smiled wryly.
"I know. I don’t care. That depends on her ability, no?" Tommi shrugged. "All I care about is cutting the governor’s support."
"You really..." Auric shook his head helplessly before turning to Eric. "You didn’t stop him?"
"Trust me. I almost kicked him in the nuts." Eric sighed.
"You don’t have to think much about it. I have my own code as well."
"Code?"
"Yeah. Bro Code no. 1: I can kick you in the nuts, but no one can." Tommi grinned. He was implying that if anyone tried to bully them, he would retaliate, even if it was the last thing he did.
Auric’s eyebrows twitched. "You’re not going to say that again, are you?"
"..." Tommi fell silent. He obviously knew the words that Auric mentioned. It was definitely the same words he had said after they fought for the first time.
"I like women." Auric raised his hand, stopping Tommi from getting closer.
"Such a coincidence. I like women too. Since we have a mutual interest, we can have an in-depth conversation." Tommi smiled.
"..." Auric took a few steps back.
"See? How easy." Tommi scoffed.
Eric just remained silent while thinking, ’People will think it’s a joke, but knowing you, you are crazy enough to actually do it. Well, it’s better to let you focus on Auric, so I don’t have to run as well.’
Tommi waved his hand. "In any case, good luck to you all. Do you really not want to stay with me here?"
"I don’t think that’s possible with me." Auric shook his head.
Eric nodded in agreement. "That’s just the situation."
"Such a shame. Well, let’s keep meeting from time to time. Next time, you won’t be able to defeat me so easily." Tommi smirked.
"No. Next time, you’ll probably lose against me." Eric shrugged.
"We’ll see whether you can defeat me at that time." Tommi harrumphed. He then chuckled before extending his fist. "Let’s meet again, brothers."
Eric chuckled and bumped his fist.
"Yeah." Auric nodded and gave a fist bump.
"What an enviable friendship." Mathias walked toward them.
"Sir," Auric greeted him politely.
Tommi and Eric straightened their backs.
"Relax. I don’t bite." Mathias chuckled before turning to Tommi. "If you ever need additional sponsorship, you should tell me. The Relesha family can help you."
"Ah. I don’t really want to bother the family that supports my friend. I don’t want you to invest in me because of your relationship with him." Tommi shook his head furiously.
"Not at all. You have the talent to receive it. In any case, I’m not going to steal you from someone else. But if that deal falls apart, give me a call." Mathias smiled.
"Yes, sir. Thank you for your appreciation."
Mathias then turned to Eric. "Your talent is also exceptional. Do you also want me to become your sponsor?"
Eric froze for a few seconds. In the end, he said the same thing as Tommi. "I don’t really want to bother the family that supports my friend. I don’t want you to invest in me because of your relationship with him."
"Oi! You’re cheating. That’s what I said earlier." Tommi complained, but Eric ignored him.
"Hahaha. Figured." Mathias smiled. "Which is why I have prepared a gift for you. Well, it’s not my gift, so you don’t have to think much about it. You will receive it at your home, so just enjoy your trip."
Eric was confused about this gift, but since there was no other mention, he remained silent.
"Thank you very much for your care over the past two weeks. Thank you for all the help as well..." Auric politely bowed to him. Without Mathias, Auric and Ellia might end up in a much worse state.
"Not at all. I’ve promised your safety, so that’s what I should do." Mathias patted Auric on the shoulders. "Just keep growing. That’s all I ask."
"Yes, sir. I won’t disappoint you."
"Very well. There’s nothing more I should say. You have your own path, so do your best."
"Yes." Auric nodded.
Mathias waved his hand.
Auric and the others finally boarded the boatplane. After showing his card, the flight attendant immediately brought them to the best seats.
Fortunately, nothing big happened during the return trip. They managed to return to Thunderer City safely.
Without wasting any more seconds, Auric rushed back to his home. He had troubled his mother a lot this time, considering she had almost been kidnapped. Although he had prepared for such a thing, he still felt a bit guilty toward his mom.
That was why he rushed back home.
Clack!
When he opened the front door, he saw his mother watching TV while waiting for him. She turned to him and gave a gentle smile. "Welcome back, my dear."
With a big smile on his face, he answered, "I’m back, Mom."
...
While the person in question didn’t think much about his own influence, his talent had shocked not only domestically but also internationally.
In a certain city, the governor who once oversaw the teacher’s conference couldn’t help but look at the news.
"..." The governor let out a long sigh. Tommi had just severed the support from him. Let alone promotion, at this rate, he might not be able to keep his job.
After learning that he hadn’t given his support despite finding Auric, he became a laughingstock. Tommi was a prospect who could launch him to the top, but Auric was a whole other level, not to mention that these two were like best friends.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be in this position because of a person." The governor shook his head in defeat.
There was one more person who was dejected by the news. It was none other than Auric’s former high school.
The principal also read the news about Auric.
If he had just kept Auric as the top student instead of letting his greed take over, Auric would have been proud of his high school. At that time, this high school would have received a lot more support, and he would be the center of attention.
Of course, the high school wasn’t treated as badly as the governor. After all, Eric was Auric’s friend. At the very least, the situation wasn’t as bad.
In the end, Auric didn’t think badly about his high school. It was just something he didn’t want to mention.
"I regret, I regret..." The principal muttered while looking at the ceiling.
Unlike those two, there was one person who seemed to be having a hard time containing their joy.
"Hahahaha." Dexter Aheron laughed uncontrollably. "Good work, kid."
Axel smiled. They managed to maintain their relationship with Auric, but they didn’t realize that the previous attempt had created a wall between him and Auric.
Nevertheless, they would still be considered an ally. It was something joyful.
After replying to his friend’s message, Axel looked up and politely nodded to his grandfather. "It’s thanks to your guidance."
On his phone, his friend texted him in tears, "I almost died offending that kind of person."
Still, this news spread extremely widely. This kind of talent was something that the world had never seen before after all.
In another country, a woman wearing a military uniform walked across the room. She stepped hard and saluted.
"I give you an order. Do whatever you need to do to bring this person to our country. If he wants anything, agree to it as long as he becomes our citizen."
"Yes, General!"
