Chapter 168: Overwhelming Power

"God Mode."

’Is that even a problem right now? We don’t have time for this,’ Auric complained.

"The shield will be activated for three minutes. We do have time to act." Lindwurm looked around.

"Auric? What is this?" Ellia asked. She was confused about the situation.

The assassins were even more confused. "What’s going on?"

"We know that this guy has a unique element. But that shield... It might be his teacher, Maya Relesha, who provided him with such an item."

They were hiding behind the trees, observing Auric’s movements. This shield had just made it clear. They needed to take down Auric first to remove all the unknown variables.

Auric, on the other hand, was confused by what Lindwurm had just said. ’What did you say?’

"The reason I don’t show you my power is to not let you copy it until you have reached a certain level. This element might end up elevating your skill beyond what you have. As a result, you may make a mistake that will haunt you for the rest of your life."

Lindwurm’s expression was grim, making Auric believe that this element might be weirder than he thought.

He asked, ’So, you’re telling me that my father made a mistake like that?’

"Yes, you."

Auric was startled. He certainly didn’t expect that answer. If it hadn’t been for the current situation, he would have snapped angrily.

Auric asked instead, ’What do you mean by ’me?’ This is not supposed to be a bad dad joke, right?’

"No. What were you saying about your body again?"

This time, Auric was dumbfounded. His body was definitely something that he couldn’t comprehend.

It all began at the Awakening Ceremony. He failed to awaken his avatar, but he received these eyes.

However, what if the eyes were not part of the equation? The narrative would change drastically.

In a way, it could be said that his father already knew about the truth in his body. He might have used his element to somehow affect his body, causing Auric to be unable to awaken any avatars.

If this was a mistake, his father was running away in the name of a business trip to wash away his shame. He could no longer look his son in the eye because of this one mistake.

Auric could definitely see this possibility as a way his father interpreted it. At the same time, he noticed something.

His father was able to do something this amazing, so what was his strength? Why would someone like him stay as a store owner?

"Unfortunately, our time is about to end. Once I activate this power, I will draw out your unique element energy to help supply this ability. It’s an ability that can definitely help you escape this situation, so you have to trust it."

Auric wanted to ask a few more questions, but it looked like he really didn’t have any choice. The barrier had started to flicker.

"!!!" Ellia and the rest started to get anxious. The assassins were getting ready to spring into action while the beasts were looking at them as though they wanted to devour them. At least four more beasts had come, making the situation trickier.

Lindwurm flew up and clapped his hands. He closed his eyes and started channeling the energy.

Gray energy burst out of Auric’s body.

Because of this energy, Auric noticed a few things. His senses had become sharper.

The less he focused, the more he could see. As Lindwurm said, it was an ability that utilized his current senses to the limit.

Once he let go of his focus entirely, Auric felt like his vision was being drawn out of his body and moved upward, allowing him to see the entire area from an omniscient point of view.

Auric could see the energy surrounding him, such as the ten beasts that were angrily looking at him, the three assassins that were hiding behind trees, or even the fourth assassin who had remained hidden all this time.

Everything had become clear to him.

With this ability, nothing could sneak up on him. In fact, he could see what was going on and quickly intercept them.

Just from experiencing this ability, Auric couldn’t help but wonder, ’Who is my father? With a unique element this powerful, there’s no way he’s someone as ordinary as a material store owner. However, there are only three unique element users who are strong enough to maybe make something like this. None of them are my father.

’Or is my current father an adopted one? No way. With how similar I’m to him and my mother, there’s no way I’m adopted.

’Then, who exactly is he?’ Auric couldn’t find the answer no matter how he thought. There could only be one conclusion. ’Is he some sort of a hidden expert that is not even on the list known to the public?’

This was the only explanation.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have time. Lindwurm had fully activated this ability.

"God Mode is now activated."

The barrier started to disappear, so Ellia immediately said, "We need to go right now. Get ready."

Ellia wanted an explanation, especially since they had three minutes earlier. However, Auric didn’t seem like he wanted to talk.

Since no one was saying anything, they also didn’t say anything to Auric.

Now that the barrier had disappeared, there was only one thing they could do.

Auric could see everything that was happening around him, including the fact that all his teammates were doing almost nothing during those three minutes.

It might be due to the shock, but one of them could at least have used the time to call his number, considering Maya had his phone with her.

Then again, he should be blamed as well since he didn’t even ask for someone’s phone after realizing it. He was just too curious about his father and the secret of his body.

Unfortunately, playtime was over. As the others were raising their weapons, Auric suddenly said, "Stay!"

"!!!" They were startled, not expecting Auric to suddenly give an order.

Auric didn’t bother to explain. He simply raised both arms and created a ball of wind and lightning between his palms.

The moment the barrier disappeared, Auric clapped his hands, causing the wind to burst in all directions.

This wind sent out lightning as well, causing the beasts to be electrocuted. It might not have been strong enough to kill them, but it was powerful enough to stop them for a moment.

Ellia and Eric immediately turned around, ready to intercept the beasts.

Suddenly, Auric formed the Night Arrow using his lightning element.

He took a step forward and tilted his body to the left before shooting the arrow.

"Gah!" The invisible assassin appeared again, but this time, an arrow blasted into him. It was even more surprising that the assassin actually flew toward the beasts.

Seeing a body suddenly fall in front of their eyes, the beasts hurriedly pounced on him and ripped his body apart.

Auric then raised his hand, using Rain of Fire with the lightning element.

This attack was meant to restrict the beasts’ movements. "Ellia, right, two steps!"

"!!!" Ellia was startled and looked to the right. She didn’t know what was going on, but she tried to follow his instructions.

The next thing she realized, a beast entered her vision. This beast was supposed to avoid Auric’s lightning, but due to its movement, it was actually not in a position to avoid Ellia’s attack.

Hence, Ellia immediately swung her blade, cutting the beast’s head in two.

This might be the first time Ellia found herself killing a rank 2 beast so easily.

"Arina, wall, front." Auric continued with the command. "Eric, blood attack, 2 meters, diagonal."

Arina and Eric were startled. But after seeing the result from Ellia, they knew something was going on with Auric.

Arina formed a barrier with her roots, which resulted in the beast to jump diagonally. It reached two meters high, making it a perfect target for Eric.

A blood sword flew and stabbed the beast’s body, killing it instantly.

"!!!" They were completely in shock. It was as if Auric could see the future.

However, Auric wasn’t looking at the future. He merely utilized the full potential of his senses.

Auric could see the beast’s movement from his omniscient vision. Because of his special eyes, he saw the energy particles concentrated on the beast’s right foot. In other words, once it avoided the lightning, the beast had no choice but to leap diagonally if a barrier appeared in front of it.

By calculating the amount of energy in its feet, Auric could figure out how high it was going to jump.

Of course, calculating like this was impossible for Auric, as he had no experience or knowledge to use as a base. But that gap was bridged by using Lindwurm as a medium.

Auric got the sensation of how much he could predict by using the instinct provided by Lindwurm.

As Lindwurm said, this ability might allow them to escape.

"Ellia, Void Step, 12 meters to the right. Cut above..."

Ellia showed no more hesitation. She used her Void Step, teleporting 12 meters to the right. The next thing she realized, she was behind a tree.

Nevertheless, she trusted Auric’s judgment and sent a sword strike upward.

"!!!" The assassin suddenly leaped away from the branch. "Ugh..."

This time, everyone was surprised. It was an assassin they had never seen before.

In other words, Auric could actually find a fourth assassin even in this situation. And after leaping away, what awaited him was Auric’s lightning bolt.

"Aargghh!" The guy gritted his teeth as Auric’s Piercing Thunder obliterated his right arm.

In addition, it created a gap in the assassin’s defense. Ellia wasn’t someone who would waste such an opportunity. With no hesitation, she leaped into the air and cut down the assassin.

"Arina, maze, beasts." Auric paused for a second. "Milinda, spear, third tree on your right."

Arina summoned as many roots as possible to create a maze that would hinder the beasts’ movements. It was only meant to slow them down, but Auric had another plan.

Milinda, on the other hand, looked to the side and found the tree Auric pointed at. She rushed to that tree and thrust her spear.

"Aaahhhh!" The assassin, who was hiding behind the tree, screamed and spat a mouthful of blood as his chest was stabbed by Milinda.

Auric then turned around and used the Ice Spike but with the earth element to create a more realistic boulder, Piercing Thunder, and Plant General while saying, "Eric, on your right, kill."

The realistic boulder hit one of the beasts, stopping it in its tracks. The Piercing Thunder blew the front feet off another beast.

Auric summoned the roots with Plant General to create a complete wall in Arina’s maze.

Still, Auric could see the energy within the beast’s body. It had enhanced its feet and head, making it clear what it was going to do.

The beast smashed the root with its head and continued forward, only to find Eric already waiting for him.

With a single slash, Eric took down this beast that wasn’t in a position to block any move.

Auric used Rain of Fire with his lightning element one more time. This time, he spread the ability even more widely, as though the beasts were not his true target.

Two lightning bolts flew toward one tree, almost hitting one of the assassins.

"Close..." The assassin thought he had been able to escape, but little did he know, Auric had positioned the lightning slightly to the right so that the assassin would escape to the left.

It was there that he would meet Ellia, who was on her way to return to the team.

Seeing yet another assassin, Ellia immediately cut him down.

Auric then pointed to one tree. "Milinda, ugh..."

Auric’s energy flickered as though he were starting to run out of it. It had only been a few minutes since he had used this technique.

At the same time, looking at how powerful this technique was, he could understand the high energy consumption of this technique.

Milinda was startled, worried about him. But Auric continued, "Swing, come from the right."

Milinda shook her head and chose to focus on this chance to kill her target. She ran toward a tree and looped around it from the right while swinging her spear.

The assassin put his dagger in front, blocking it, but Milinda pushed him back.

Auric was already prepared with his Piercing Thunder.

The assassin turned pale as he saw the Piercing Thunder coming at him.
