Chapter 789: Chapter 626: Astonishing Secret
Sela and Bilenna arrived at the village tavern.
Compared to the frequently packed city taverns, the little village tavern was almost empty. Of course, it might have something to do with the Village Protection Lake. The troublesome ferry ride quickly deterred many passing NPCs from entering the village.
Sela spoke directly: "I’m an Elder of the Broken Bottle Gang, very concerned about the situation of our guild leader."
Bilenna snapped back: "He’s already in jail, isn’t he? If you’re concerned, go visit him in prison. Why come to me?"
Sela raised an eyebrow: "So, you think just because he’s in jail, it’s all over?"
Bilenna huffed: "What does it have to do with me?"
Seeing her uncooperative attitude, Sela decided to find some common ground: "Rumor has it, Miss Bilenna was someone the guild leader met during his exile on Plague Island, and he’s supposed to help you collect a debt of 2 billion."
Bilenna sighed: "That’s an old debt from my grandfather’s generation, a hundred years ago. Nobody wants to acknowledge it, so I’m not holding any naive hopes. I’m lucky enough if I don’t get killed."
Sela said casually: "As long as the account book exists, your debt is always legitimate. Even if the guild leader is locked up, we are still here, and we’re willing to help you think of a solution."
Bilenna brightened up: "Oh? As long as the Elder helps me think of a solution, your reward can be negotiated once it’s done."
Sela smiled: "Although it’s certainly not easy, as long as we persist and don’t give up, we can definitely find a way. After all, there will always be some weak descendant obliged to pay back the debt."
Bilenna laughed: "Makes sense. Cheers!"
Seeing her change in attitude, Sela got to the point: "I think our guild leader is quite remarkable. He’s been in jail for 20 days, yet still ranks 11th globally. When he clearly has no opportunity to train, how does he manage to do that?"
Bilenna was taken aback: "Is it because the other adventurers are just too worthless?"
Sela cleared his throat: "Could it be that the guild leader is simply too strong?"
Bilenna took a sip dismissively: "Well, it’s good if the guild leader is strong."
Sela then placed down a privilege point worth 10,000: "So, Miss Bilenna should be the one most clear why he’s so strong. Please answer me!"
Bilenna frowned: "For example, encountering a beautiful angel on an island and receiving a blessing of love?"
Holy Shit!
Chun, watching from behind the scenes, was appalled. Could you not ruin Nancy’s reputation? She’s just a loli!
Sela also frowned: "But this blessing couldn’t be stronger than the newly ranked 14th hero who already received a Church blessing and gained a Domain."
Chun’s heart skipped a beat, thinking, is that talking about King Arthur? The Ten Lords gave him a Divine Artifact the day before yesterday, and it’s not enough. Yesterday he used it to farm for a Domain?
Sela was getting impatient: "Miss Bilenna, you’re not telling the whole truth. With this attitude, it’s difficult for us to help you with your debts!"
Bilenna said solemnly: "Elder, you don’t have to use privileges to coerce me. Trade me 30,000 privileges, and I’ll tell you an astonishing secret!"
Sela was stunned!
The Ten Lords Chat Group was shocked!
Even Chun was stunned, Bilenna proactively asking for Privilege Points? Exactly, it had to be proactive; otherwise, if the opponent kept bombarding with privileges, Bilenna might not withstand it!
Sela looked displeased: "Are you sure it’s an astonishing secret?"
Bilenna replied seriously: "The Elder can try to coerce me with privileges and see if I spill."
Sariel was anxious: "Sela, be careful! Yesterday I encountered a security guard at the hospital who was too strong; even with privileges, it was useless and wasted a few thousand privilege points!"
Michael said sternly: "Privilege effectiveness is related to the opposing party’s power alignment. If the opponent is strong and belongs to an adversarial alignment, then privileges are difficult to work. This Bilenna is disguising as an opposing faction’s Siren, and she’s likely very strong. Coercive privileges would be tough; trading is the safe course."
Gabriel said: "First she bluffed about angelic love; now she’s actively seeking a trade. This is just to cover up her Sea Enchantress clone parasitizing Chun, which is no secret to us. So we should see what other secrets she might have."
Sela almost burst: "I’m just asking for intelligence, and it costs me a total of 50,000 privilege points?"
Gabriel sighed: "You don’t really have a use for your privilege points anyway, do you?"
Sela grudgingly said: "Alright, let’s trade then!"
Once the trade was completed, Sela’s eyes blazed with fury: "Miss Bilenna, please reveal your astonishing secret!"
Bilenna remained unhurried, finishing her drink in one gulp: "Does wealth count as a ranking in strength?"
Sela was taken aback: "It counts! But the weighting is low, way below a Domain and even lower than personal skill attributes."
Bilenna asked: "Does a property deed count as wealth?"
Sela was incredulous: "Does the guild leader own property?"
Bilenna replied seriously: "He dug a pile of property deeds out of a safe on the island. My debt book also came from that safe."
Sela was dumbfounded!
The chat group was full of gasps!
Chun’s heart was in his throat!
Sela’s voice trembled: "A pile of property deeds? To what properties?"
Bilenna replied solemnly: "I don’t know!"
Sela was getting frantic: "Miss Bilenna!"
Bilenna sighed: "I really don’t know. He treats them like treasures, never letting me see. Actually, I want to know, Plague Island was normal years ago, right? The property deeds from the safe should belong to homes on the island, yes? Now that the properties are destroyed, do the deeds still count?"
Sela was instantly dumbfounded!
The chatroom was in awe!
Gabriel asked with a laugh: "Butler, you understand this, care to explain?"
The butler cleared his throat: "Simply put, property deeds tie together land and buildings, not only valuing the house but also the land. Though the buildings were destroyed and lost their asset value, if in the future, someone rebuilds on the original island plot, the deeds regain effect."
Sela was amazed: "So, within the game, even if it’s a wealthless ruin, the property deeds still count as wealth?"
The butler was embarrassed: "Well, um, in-game specifics, not too clear."
Sela had to ask Bilenna: "Could they be properties of the Empire? Like nobles on the island having properties in the Empire back then?"
Bilenna laughed: "I said I don’t know! The guild leader having properties, should you, as an Elder, not be happy? Anyway, that’s the situation. Now I must go for an afternoon nap. Excuse me."
...
Meanwhile, the chat group was abuzz with discussion.
Sariel laughed: "If his ranking is propped up merely by a bunch of useless property deeds, that’s truly hilarious."
Michael frowned: "I should still look into the property status within the Empire; it’s a big task though..."
Uriel said sullenly: "Boss, focus your efforts on the upcoming Void War."
Gabriel laughed: "Exactly, it doesn’t matter at all, who cares about properties, don’t stop taking your meds!"
Sariel laughed: "Yes, yes, don’t stop the meds!"
